You'd be better off going to Kingsmadow to see AFC Wombles play them on the 27th Sept

Apparently a decision is being made after the reserve game today on whether we sign this guy or note.

Out of interest does he already being on trial with us mean we can sign him outside the transfer window or would Windsor terminate his contract for a nominal fee? Would we sign him on loan until January?

Michael Chennells

Anyone know who Louie Harris & Adam McSherry are, they also played in the reserves match (lost 0-3 to the Gills)

:computer:

McSherry might have played for Carrick United in Ireland and Louie Harris might have been a Wolves reserve.

I dont think he got a game today though?

Despite the club saying that Aaron Scott played for the reserves in the last game at home to Wycombe, it certainly wasn't him and the other players referred to the mystery man throughout as "Macca" so I guess it was Adam McSherry who has played up front in both reserve games to date.

What did you make of them both?

If by both you mean Chennells and mystery-man McSherry, I thought Chennells definately looked worthy of someone to take a chance on. Although he's a bit older than the normal recruit from lower non-league football, he looked lively and intelligent and his movement in and around the penalty box was very good.

McSherry was okay and he worked exceptionally hard but didn't seem to have the best first-touch. However, Terry Bullivant seemed impressed with him!

(all the above based on a single reserve game, of course!)

For Windsor this season, he has started 6 games, scored 3 whilst training and playing reserves for us too...

At least the attention from Brentford hasn't affected his game at Windsor. Looks, on their forum, that they really rate him and have wondered why he hasn't gone higher before now...

Michael Chennells

will yesterdays performance in front of goal go in his favour.

Personally I would love to add someone like him, as our other strikers have the experience, he would learn so much from them.

Michael Chennells

Good luck to the younglad. Just wasn't meant to bee. Sure he will get a chance with another team in the near future.

Michael Chennells

asked an old school mate (who's father is a coach at Windsor) he said hes still on trial as far as he knows,

but then again he could be wrong

Michael Chennells

friend at works son knows him and he not a 'bee to be' anymore.

Michael Chennells

Didn't play against Aldershot reserves today. Suggests he's left.

Michael Chennells

decision was apparently made not to sign him after last week's loss at gills

Michael Chennells

Shame for the bloke. He was obviously not far off as AS took such a long look at him. I hope he gets his shot at league football.

Michael Chennells

He will probably turn up at another club in a year and score 25 goals and every one will give it the large "we let him slip away" routine.

Obviously not quite ready enough to make it a good move for us at this point in time.

Michael Chennells

And your point is?

All it says is he has been on trial and we are making a decision... don't the problem myself:confused:

No problem at all, my post was out of interest as to what the decision was

I feel like I'm having a Blunstone moment ;)

What's the point of keep talking about this guy, we have Cort and Forster who cant' get into the team, in fact they can't even get off the bench when the other 2 are not firing, and we have Robbie Simpson who is clearly a centre forward but AS plays him on the right wing....we don't need any more strikers, we just need to give them better service and they will score.....phew !

Michael Chennells

Kirk Hudson will presumably be back from injury at some point too.

Yeh where is he ?
He looked very good when the shots came to us season before last, I remember he was a right winger and gave Dicko a few problems.

I think we have plenty of forwards, it's just a case of finding the right pairing as I don't think Charlie and Alexander work well together. I would like to see Simpson and Forster given a go, but I doubt it'll happen :(

You are having a Blunstone moment I'm afraid. Hopefully, you'll be over it soon.

Robbie Simpson has been outstanding at right wing as well as when playing through the centre. Remember Nicky Adams had failed to join when he first got played our right & Kirk Hudson wasn't ready / injured.

Really, must be different Simpson who played on the right for Coventry then. ;)

Michael Chennells

Simpson is the right midfielder we have been needing for years, keep him there!

No he's the same one who played as a centre forward at his current club - Huddersfield Town ;)

Cort and Forster will be picking up their pensions soon
Since when have we been in a position to hoover up local talent and bring them on whether that be out on loan or in the reserves with the odd game if injuries kick in. It seems that the future was the club's thinking behind this one as with players like Hudson. No doubt someone else will take that punt on Chennels and could make a tidy sum selling him on once he has league experience under his belt. Look at DJ Campbell, Beckford etc.

Equally look at the likes of Chris Moore. It doesnt always work out. We gave him a number of reserve games. Perhaps he isnt quite good enough. Who knows.

Yes but at least as a club we are out there sniffing around for a player. :sorted:

I guess the way AS and most other Managers see it is, if the player is no better than we already have then move on...

Was he still not at uni? If so, maybe we have stuck a pin in him, to come back to next season when Corts legs finally give up?! :fishing:

Michael Chennells

Yes it's definately encouraging that the club want to bring through untapped talent. Would be suprised if Bullivant was an influence in this, might also be a part of Mr Benhams long term plan?
