I think it's obvious now that the club aren't prepared to gamble on hickey recovering full form and fitness without an insurance policy. That's not to say he won't, but having just spent serious money on a highly regarded prospect in the same position they clearly want two dogs in this race.

If all goes well we will enjoy two top class RBs competing for the spot. I really hope that young Hickey does resume his career at the top level and I'm looking forward to seeing which of them gains the upper hand!

I love him already, seems to have smiled every minute of his first 24 hours.

Looks like he plays unrelentingly like a charging tank dismissing anything that gets in his way.

We need that physicality, so long as he’s advised that PL refs are quick to pounce on anything that looks too over-physical.

For example, the foul by the Arsenal player today didn’t look particularly bad, but he was sent off.

I think the sending off was a mistake that will be corrected in a few days time.

What a fine young man he is, a great example of a humble personality with a smile that lights up a room. Looming dorward to seeing him playing for us. Happy days ??

So, does this young man come in for his debut against Spurs on Sunday, or does Ajer get the nod at RB?

Personally I assume that Ajer starts and plays 60 minutes as he knows the systems and is familiar with the team, and Kayode comes on with some energy for the last 30 or so.

I reckon he starts . He had been brought to be 1st choice right back till at least hickey returns . I love ajer but he a centre half we now have a fit 1st choice right back in squad.
It’s not the way Thomas manages the team or squad. Ajer will start and Kayode will be eased in after he best understand our system of play and how best to compliment his fellow team mates

Quite a baptism of fire if he does start as he'll be up against son who's been one of the best in Europe for a few years now in that left forward position

Initial song thoughts

Kayode-de-de he's our number 33,
Kayode-de-de he's a bee like you and me,
On his left, on his right, we think he's f*cking dynamite,
When he plays in red and white, he makes Fulham look sh*te!

To the tune of Agadoo - Black Lace
Just replace Vitaly with Kayode
and Germany with Italy
song, sorted ?

Funny how we see things differently. I see Ajer as a full back. Who isn't a centre back!

....you just know that's exactly what his song will be....with Vitaly walking about the pitch with a chin on every time it's sung?

Ajer isn't built like a full back and doesn't play like a full back. He's got a lot better but his positional sense for the role was really poor at first. Newcastle at home against Fraser was the nadir.

Son has had a poor season though.

Son has had a poor season though.
Son always cuts inside… which is what Ajer does. As long as Collins understands what Kris is doing with his natural drift and we cover the Spurs midfielder who’s supporting Son, we should be fine on that side.

Is this a Kayode thread?
