First goal was just unfortunate I feel, second one he was being abit of a pansy, turned his back and dangled his foot out when he needed to be brave, especially given the circumstances

Agree, with the first goal he had to make a contact as he didnt know who was behind him. Got his legs in a tangle and the rest is history. Sure he will come back stronger, only 20/21.....

Though his game was a good reflection of the team performance. Unplayable at times and at others all too frantic and a little undisciplined.

Still walks into this team mind

First time I've seen him have a really bad game, and it's fresh off an injury when he's been back training for a few days, and even then we scored from a long throw of his. Nothing to worry about.
If that was his really bad game...wow.

Look, he made two pretty poor errors. He also lost the ball 2-3 times with poor decisions on when to release it and to whom, after doing the hard work.

BUT, I don't think I've ever seen a better 1v1 defender against wingers. He just wins every duel on the floor. And the way he drives past people or gets around them...class. Without the own goal, he'd be getting huge praise for a massive performance.

Very glad we still managed to win that game

Have to say we look so much better going forward with Michael in the team.

Ok he made 2 mistakes today but he will learn and become a much better player for it.
better as attacking f/b than defending currently but as said above, he is young.

maybe more wing back down the line?

He’ll remain as a full back who bombs forward what the game-plan allows. Recently, his Italian tendencies have got the better of him with his full back duties, though.

MK didn't have a bad game did he? He was on the end of two unfortunate ricochet. Apart from that, a 6/7 out 10 performance.
A bit like the Alan Partridge quote on the Titanic….

"Oh yeah, people go on about Titanic, Titanic... Let me tell you something about the Titanic, people forget, people forget that on the Titanic's maiden voyage there were over 1000 miles of uneventful, very pleasurable cruising before it hit the iceberg!"

Michael Kayode

He's a very good defender especially with one on one's,it's a bit mad to say otherwise as we see him neuter wingers every week.

If there is something he needs to work on it's when to lay it off when he cuts inside because sometimes he gets a bit carried away.

That was funny. However. It's not like ' apart from the red card and pass across the 6 years box that lead to the first goal'. Both goals were smashed towards him and not his fault. In my opinion of course.

The first goal, the keeper should shouted at him to leave it and it would have gone harmlessly wide, clearly he had no call. The second option is to either put the ball back from where it came from or help the ball on its way to the other touchline.

No way Valdimarsson has time to shout Kayode that is going wide or Kayode has to react even if their was a shout. Kayode went on instinct and it went wrong. It happens and the lad had one of those days.

For both “OG’s”, my impression (only from TV clips) is that he was actually in a position where he shouldn’t have been. So, the question is, in each case: who is the Brentford defender that should’ve been there and what was he doing?

Yep, he is an all-action player, who likes to be involved in the game as much as possible.

For most of the time that is what makes him so great.

Yesterday, it meant he found himself in the wrong place a couple of times or intervening when he shouldn't have. Ah well - let Michael be Michael!! :)

I’ll let you tell him he’s a bit of a pansy. See you on the Whats Wrong With You thread

Really bad game, and he’s looked a bit rusty since coming back - but before then was arguably our best player in so many games. He’s young and needs our support.

Not sure he was fully fit but with Hickey out decision was made for him to start. If Hickey was fit very possible Michael would have been on bench.

In fairness to Michael and Kris Ajer on the (first) disallowed fourth goal, the ricochets were unlucky. For most of this season their blocks have been heroic. Yesterday the deflections from those attempted blocks went against us.

Michael Kayode

Young player learning his trade, not 50 games done in the PL yet.

Errors happen in this young team, Collins last week, Kayode unfortunately this.

form is temporary but class is permanent and fortunately and we have a very very classy player here.

Michael Kayode

Here’s the bottom line. He’s a player of highs and lows, it’s natural due to the way he plays. As time goes on, his weaknesses will be shored up and he will be truly world class.

I haven't seen many lows, I think he is player of lots of highs.

He won't be the first player who slides into his own area to block a cross and deflects it in, he had no idea who was behind him and had to react, even if someone shouts leave it he was already committed. The second goal just deflected off him, nothing he could do.

He was fine for the rest of the game.

He missed what, one game?

He is fit as a fiddle,

Michael Kayode

Looked like 2nd half particular they were overloading his side to negate him going forward and exploit spaces. He'll learn. He's overtaken Danny Boxall and Michael Dobson as my favourite RB we've had.

Michael Kayode

He's a brilliant player and we are lucky to have him
World Class RB in the making, simply glides across the pitch and makes everything look easy. Hopefully Italy makes the WC and if he keeps it up, he can be part of their squad.

back to being chaotic (in a good way) and everywhere today- except for getting a bit fortunate with the robbie savage penalty situation.

he’s done that a couple times, notably against newcastle as well. but helped relieve a lot of pressure… Rico coming off put pressure on him to do more attacking work and he covered a lot of ground.

Back to chaotic (sort of in a good way). I find his his positioning poor at times. Provided superb attacking support on that side.

Is Ajer at RB and Kayode at LB a reasonable option for the next few games, even if only as Plan B. Kayode is more two-footed than Ajer and has some experience at LB.
