Michael Kayode

A lovely gesture by Michael Kayode here! Not sure I’d bother him through a wound down car window though.

Michael Kayode is enjoying a golden age: after scoring his first Premier League goal, the former Fiorentina player—already a local idol—is becoming more and more beloved by his fans. The latest story from Brentford further confirms this.

A Fan's Story

Pasquale, an Italian Brentford fan, wrote about a meeting with the 2004-born player: “Being Italian myself, I saw the silhouette of our incredible right-back through the rolled-down window. I shouted at him how great he was, that we wanted to see him at the World Cup, and that I was a Brentford season ticket holder. My son adores him; he just wants his shirt. As a father, I felt the need to satisfy him by instinctively asking Kayode if he had a shirt. Without batting an eyelid, with his big smile, he checked the car and handed me a shirt: he's a damn gentleman!”

They also took Marco Palestra, another 21 year old RB. Kayode may have an uphill battle if he wants to play for his country. The cynic in me can't help but wonder if some of it is because he's not *ahem* 'traditionally italian'. There may be bias as well simply because he's outside of the italian league. Not right but it is what it is.
Agree out of sight out of mind. Gattuso is a terrible coach anyway they probably won’t even qualify

Oh Michael. His positivity and extravagance got us a goal and cost us one too. Superb run for Thiago’s second but to go for the dummy and let the ball run through his legs at the end was a crazy decision, you can’t turn over the ball so softly in that situation. Otherwise excellent

These goals showed him at his absolute best and a good example of what he needs to work on.
He looked absolutely devastated at the end of the game as though he was solely responsible for the result.

He’s playing the way KA wants him to do and he brings a lot of excitement to the game with his unexpected twists and turns which surprises both the spectators and the opposing players.

He will also gain more experience with every game he plays so he will, no doubt, decide in the future what is the better thing to do when a similar situation arises.

Michael is a crowd favourite and he will receive a great reception next week, in any case.

A few coaching sessions with Rico at how to defend wouldn't do him any harm. Love him, young Raw will only get better.

Love him but his head went after his assist. Crazy diving in, falling over, and the attempted dummy right at the end. We really just missed some calm heads in the last 15, the whole team just totally lost composure which seems to happen alot when defending leads, we forget how to play

He was knackered

I’ll propose an alternative. The fact that MK is a supreme athlete and able to get back and be the last defender, whatever else he was doing shortly before. By getting back to the goal and involved in the play, he’s automatically deemed culpable. Yes, he’s made mistakes, but others that maybe haven’t recovered their positions as fast as MK, should also be taking some blame.

Michael has the powers of recovery to sprint back, but our two centre backs were up the field ahead of him for a long throw in when he attempted that dummy.

They had to chase back, in injury time.

I’m sure he’ll learn from it and without him the game probably would have finished 1-1.

He was exactly what the game was crying out for in that 2nd half. Someone to run at their defence. We were really coming up against a brick wall with long throws and crosses.

I'm quite happy to forgive the odd mistake for all the benefits he brings.

On the first point, I do think Romelle would have been worth bringing on for either Dango or Schade. It would have given their back 4 something different to think about and also maybe have kept us on the front foot, which we stopped doing once we went 2-1 up.

We were still attacking at 2-1.

The problem was that they penned us in for the final 10 minutes and we did not have the guile to play our way out.

Just wanna add that I'll never, ever criticise him. I don't care about the risk, only the reward.

For me he is what an elite player should be: fearless. He can change the game from full back. I'm very very excited for him and for us. I think he could be a 100M player and its his fearlessness that sets him apart from the 'slot into the system' types that dominate modern football now. Dango tracks back and fills in and the back four shuffles over... and why not?! Total football! He carries the ball like no one else. Incredible athlete, and totally unpredictable. I don't care about the mistakes. You gotta crack an egg to make an omelette. Run at 'em Mike! What a goal by the way!!!

Long may it continue.

Not sure on the second half, but it was very evident he was man-marking Ndaiye and following him everywhere in the first half. Did a very good job of it too

Plus... he shoots with the outside of his boot 😍

One of the very few who took on people at the weekend and drove forward.

He gets a pass from me on the second half error.

I love players who are willing to go for it.

Mistakes you can always learn from!

Michael seems to be getting a lot of flak for the dummy yet klp seems to have been let of lightly for his what i saw as a blatant effort to gain a free kick which didn't materialise and Everton scoring because of it. He does do it quite often but in a less riskier position, got caught out this time.
