For those of you who can't get past the Paywall, three snippets:
1. An MK throw of 65.4m last September is further than any PL player has achieved since Opta began recording such data in 2019/20;
2. No player aged 21 or under has played more minutes in the PL this season than MK;
3. MK is among the top 10 players for distance run in the PL this season (355km and counting), with Adrien Truffert (Bournemouth) the only defender to have covered more ground.

Michael Kayode

Kayode not available as a selection for the “player of the season” vote that’s now gone live on the app. Something’s gone wrong with that…

That’s odd he is on mine! He’s at the bottom when I scrolled.

My taps are several hundred out so I don’t trust the thing though!

Michael Kayode

Thoroughly deserves his nomination among the top 8 young players of the year. What a player and a prospect.

Michael Kayode

“Discarded by Juve, it was a beating. Now I'm in the Disneyland of world football”

The right winger is the Italian with the most appearances in the Premier League this season: "Sorfacet championship. Are the Bianconeri interested? The voices are pleasing”

More appearances from Gigio Donnarumma, who however signed with City at the end of August, almost at the end of the market. More tokens even than Sandro Tonali, protagonist of an excellent season at Newcastle and destined to become the market man of the summer. Yes, there is someone who managed to surpass the two symbolic players of Made in Italy in the Premier League: Michael Kayode. Sold too hastily a year and a half ago by Fiorentina to Brentford, a reality that has been able to value it in the best possible way. In the Premier League, the 2004 class outsider exploded: 35 appearances this year, for one of the symbols of a team that two rounds from the end still plays a place between the Europa League and the Conference League. Difficult, yes, but not impossible. But Kayode, the most curious of the Juve-Fiorentina doubles, still watches a bit of Serie A.

Michael Kayode, do you know that you are the Italian with the most appearances in this Premier League season?
«I know and it's an honor. This is a fantastic world, I'm doing great: Brentford has an exceptional project. I was very lucky to find this club, which we hope to bring to Europe in these last two league matches»

The difference of the Premier

What's the atmosphere in England?
«The Premier League is the Disneyland of world football: everything is really perfect, I'm really happy here. For structures, quality of the game and of the players there is no more competitive championship than this».

Which opponent amazed her the most?
«I say Doku from City: impressive for technique and speed. But also Haaland, who is a goal machine, and Bruno Fernandes: he has an incredible quality in managing the ball».

It's a football that in Italy, these days, we can only dream of.
«Yes, it's true, here there are different characteristics of football: I love duels and this is definitely the most suitable place for my way of playing. In Italy there is much more tactics, but in Serie A the games are prepared with a care of detail that really makes you grow».

She played in Serie D at Gozzano, then returned to the youth sector when he moved to Fiorentina. Did you need it?
"A lot. Serie D at 16 was fundamental for my growth, I understood football on a mental level: it allowed me to face the Primavera championship at Fiorentina with much more certainty. At the debut in Serie A, which was the greatest joy of my life, I arrived ready».

"I will always give priority to Italy"

She is back from an exceptional season, yet there was no room for her in the senior national team. Why?
«I'm young, it's up, just by continuing to work I'll make this dream come true, which is what many guys like me have in common».

Also because for her she can still knock Nigeria. What choice would you make in that case?
«I will always give priority to Italy: even at the youth level I grew up with the blue jersey. I hope to be able to realize this dream as soon as possible, but I have no doubts about which crossroads to choose».

Have you ever heard from Gennaro Gattuso in recent months?
«Yes, we also had a dinner with the Premier League players. I was fine, I felt involved even without being called up for the playoffs».

Going back to your past, what did Juve represent for you?
«I have no regrets for that period, even if they discarded me. They saw something in me, I enjoyed myself every year in Vinovo. It was a beating to be sent away, but I always got up again. I learned a lot there until I was 14».

Gozzano, then Fiorentina: a remarkable leap.
«I will always thank Vincenzo Italiano for making me debut in Serie A against Genoa, I really didn't expect it. He is a coach who can do very well even in the Premier League, he has innovative ideas. He had the merit of never making me feel arrived, he constantly kept me on the piece. He gave me so much, he left a deep mark on my path: I owe him a lot».

The future is Juve-Fiorentina

Regarding her future, for her we also talked about Juve.
«I'm not thinking about my return to Italy: I just want to do well, improve here at Brentford and grow again in this club. Obviously the attention of Juve, but like any top club, is always a pleasure, but I am very focused on the final of the championship».

Will he watch Juve-Fiorentina on TV?
«I think so, after all I watch all the games of my former purple teammates, I remained very attached to that group. Honestly, I would have preferred to leave the club in another way. With Italiano I played a lot, with Palladino things went differently, so together with the company we chose another path. I would have liked to leave better, but also the fact of not having played much in those months helped me to take one more step. Everything is needed».

Who did he stay more attached to?
«I am very good friends with Dodo, but also Mandragora, Bonaventura and Biraghi supported me a lot in my first year of Serie A as a protagonist».

Do you still see each other in the Premier League next year?
«Yes, I'm happy here and I'm fine. I found a family at Brentford. We are a young team, the atmosphere is splendid. Between the staff and staff of the sports center I feel at home, for me it was easy to settle in, despite the normal doubts I had at the beginning. I feel like I've been here for ten years».

Juve and the call of Italy

In the summer, however, the big Italian clubs could come forward for her. Among these is Juve, which wants to create a block of young and strong Italians. Do you like it?
«Of coviously, when someone speaks well of you it's always rewarding. But now I'm really focused on Brentford and on doing well in the most beautiful and important league in the world».

She is not the only one among the most talked about names of Brentford: this season Igor Thiago's 22 goals in the Premier League stand out.
«He's a great striker, it's not easy to score so much in a championship like the Premier League. At first he had a knee discomfort, but since he's been well he's blooming and is showing his enormous qualities».

Going back to the technical and tactical perspectives of your role as an outsider, do you feel more inclined to defend or attack?
«I like both phases, especially here in England where the duels are so much exalted. But if I had to choose, I say defend: I know it's an atypical feature in modern football, but in one-on-one I find it much more stimulating».

So, now all you have to do is wait for Italy's call.
«Yes, but now I focus only on Europe with Brentford: until the last second we can aspire to qualify in the cups, so we don't want to lower our guard. The blue jersey would be a huge and unthinkable goal until a few years ago, but I'll think about it in a few weeks».

Michael Kayode

Love these kind of interviews, they must do the club so much good with other young prospects. "Come to Brentford, the atmosphere is splendid."

Michael Kayode

Best player on the pitch out of both sides today, I don’t see how we’re going to keep him.
I think Caoimhín Kelleher was the best player on the pitch out of both sides today.

Michael Kayode

MOTM for me yesterday. Very good and positive on the ball but seems to have learnt quickly. After being second best against Doku last week, he largely had their young starlet in his pocket yesterday

Michael Kayode

Easily MOTM yesterday. Great credit to Kelleher for his performance but MK was an absolute joy to watch.

Michael Kayode

The Athletic have just ranked Kayode's transfer to us as 3rd out of the 189 Premier League transfers this past season. A really impressive piece of business. Rankings based on the players impact for their club over the period.

For context Wissa to Newcastle was ranked 183rd.....😄😄

3. Michael Kayode, Fiorentina to Brentford

Reported transfer fee: £14.5million

Contract length: Five years

First impressions: Long throws are in vogue, and this guy is the best in the league at them, with his flat, hard cannonballs. Kayode is also quick and effective going forward when the ball is at his feet.

Verdict: Only four players in the league completed more take-ons than his 55, and he was the only defender in the top 15 of Premier League dribblers. Caused carnage like a red-and-white-striped Tasmanian Devil, with his ambling runs and exceptional long throws. A fantastic talent who doesn’t turn 22 until July and only cost them £14.5million.

Michael Kayode

He can have a restful summer then, which, given the miles that he has run this season, can be no bad thing.

But he should have made the Italian squad without any question. Their bad.
Yep one of the best RB in the league yet can't make a poor Italy squad...shows up Gattuso for the poor coach he is and the insular way Italy pick their squads
