that quality publication the daily star comments on manchester united having a defender crisis after johnny evans returned from international duty injured.

maybe, just maybe, sir alex will fancy bidding. if he does, mark hughes will want to outbid him. then rafa will have to up his bid. then mourinho will sit up and take notice (actually, didn't turner spend time at inter while with charlton) and finally christiano ronaldo will tell his boss about this 'lad at hull city who we should buy el gaffer'. matthew benham's valuation will look like peanuts.

I hope your right. :D

The Hull chairman was on the radio tonight said re Turner
Like him to stay for one more season
4 clubs in for him
No firm bids in
expects movement in the central defender market over the next week
Hull have 4 central defenders
seems like he will be off then.

Have you asked Keith if Southend are in for him?

Michael Turner

hull do seem to be splashing the cash. they MUST be thinking they'll recoup some soon!

Yep - I got the impression that they wold be happy to keep him but in reality expect him to move on as he's destined for bigger things. He agreed that it was very likely that there was more outward business to be concluded a Hull before the window closes.

Michael Turner

Can't see a deal going through for Turner.
Don't think he's worth the money Hull are touting him for.
He's a good defender, but he's not champions league!

Michael Turner

Brown needs to realise they won't stop conceding goals but the only way to survive is to score more. Cash in on a defender and buy 3 more strikers.

I think their problem is that they've got to give 30% away, so 6m is only 4.2m to them.

Michael Turner

I thought he played well against Chelsea, got in a good block against I think Drogba?

Thought he looked a real quality player and think a 12 million valuation in todays transfer market is justified.

Did Turner ask for a transfer?

Players that did't used to normally take 5% (£0.3m bringing it down to £3.9m)

Maybe Agent fees involved as well, making it even worse.

Hull could struggle to replace him for less especially if they have to pay new player and his agent signing on fees, so they may think it's better for them to keep him until they know their fate.:(

Michael Turner

is this deal ever going to happen?:zzzzz::zzzzz::zzzzz:

Villa stil need a defender and O'Neil likes em English.

No:nono: Check the previous threads we only get the dosh if he signs for a Premiership Club so the likes of Inter,Real and celtic can F*** Right Off!

Quote in the Sun today by Brown saying they are ready to do business (selling Turner) if they can get Sol Campbell in. Says they have already spoken to Sol as he is a free agent.I'm luvin it!

So why has Benitez clearly stated that he wants to buy him then?

But he clearly doesn't think he's worth that sort of money, otherwise he would've bought him already.
Maybe Rafa feels he can come on as a player.

I'd love to be proved wrong as liked Turner as a player when he was with us. But never saw a premier league or champions league winner which Benitez must be looking for.

Michael Turner

CB injury crisis after crisis seems to be the order of the day, why is he still there?

Michael Turner

After seeing how two Liverpool defenders "defended" yesterday, I think Rafa should buy Turner immediately at the bargain price of £12million!

Agree... Turner's good, but not that good. Playing in a crap Hull side he is highlighted each week for his Herculean performances. If we on this board didn't have a vested interest, he would be your average Joe Bloggs mid-table/bottom-half top flight centre half.

So hes playing against the best in the country, with the not so good around him,and has been making a name of himself and been doing what he does best.,then if he goes to a better club then hes job will be easier, but his reputation will just get bigger.

 Surely that argument means he's too good for Hull and all the other sides around them at the very least?

Michael Turner

Got a feeling he is going nowhere, all rumours and no actual action. Have Liverpol actually got £12m?.... not so sure.

Michael Turner

I thought Liverpool were a bit ropey financially

Michael Turner

You're probably right I imagine their credit card could probably handle another 12m.

Michael Turner

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has been told by the club's American owners he has only £1.5m to spend on new players.
Full story: Daily Mirror

So he will probably go to Liverpool for £15m:D

Michael Turner

My instinct is that he will move as at some point a centre half merry-go-round will kick off with Lescott, Hangeland etc and Turner will get on that.

However, I can't see him going for more than about £8m. It's only Man City paying silly money and they're not bidding.

They may do if they don't get Lescott.

Villa are looking at David Wheater according to papers this morning.

:imwith:

I'm not sure he will go to Liverpool afterall. While Benitez has been credited with an interest, things don't seem to be moving very fast. If his transfer pot is limited then striker seems to be the most pressing need. They don't have a lot to back up Torres. Speaking to a few 'Pool fans they all seem to rate a young centre half called Kelly who they expect to make the breakthough soon. Benitez might give him his chance instead of Turner and splash the cash up front.

Younger, cheaper & regular U-21 international. So might make economic sense.
Sol Campbell will pich up somewhere for nowt soon too, probably Newcastle to allow them to sell Taylor and again, he is cheaper in the market than Turner too. I cannot see Hull getting anywhere near £12m and probably might have to accept £5m-£6m with add ons at best.

i agree with this, Hull are asking too much for Turner, with Wheater/Taylor etc actually playing at U-21 level and their 'price' is cheaper than Turner's, i know i'd probably go for the other two before MT.

Michael Turner

I doubt Turner will go before January, and only then if he continues his form from last season. I think clubs willing to pay that sort of money would want to be sure he really is that good.

James Collins is going to Stoke from West Ham for £5m which almost certainly means that Shawcross is on his way. :sgrug:

Shawcross will be on his way to Anfield and another one of very few players who will have played for Man Utd & Liverpool :fishing:

Greece centre-back Sotiris Kyrgiakos claims he is set for a surprise move to Liverpool from AEK Athens.

"I would like to inform the fans of AEK that on Monday night I received an offer from Liverpool, an offer which I have accepted," said the 30-year-old on his personal website, www.kyrgiakos.gr.

However, his club have played down talk of a move by saying there is no agreement in place.

Uh-oh, looks like Hull have priced everyone away from Turner. I think Turner is now rated lower than Taylor, Wheater and Shawcross.

Well as all three are regulars in the England U-21 squad/team and Turner has not been near to any International recognition, so that doesn't surprise me.
The value of Turner is inflated and I do not expect Hull to get anywhere near that fee if the do sell.

Michael Turner

quite a few media outlets have reported that Turner was very close to getting into one of Mr Capello's squads........
