Looks like Mr Turner is doing alright for himself these days.

Im at uni in Hull and my mate works at Debenhams and he was in buying some top of the range cabinets at £300 a piece!! He had to help load them in his brand new Mercedes, with his hot girlfriend looking on!

Cant imagine why he left us ....

Sorry but is a £300 cabinet that expensive? If it's the same gilrfriend as last season then he was already doing ok. As for a brand new Mercedes, what does Nelson drive?

Michael Turner

the grass isn't always greener on the other side....

Michael Turner

he's certainly better off at a crap team in the championship than a crap one in league one.

Don't think they do kitchens in the Hounslow Debenhams

I think a big chunk goes back to Charlton? It was a deal so we could afford him at the time?

surely they got a chunk of the fee that went to us from hull, not any future fees, as we (hopefully) put in that clause ourself.

Hopefully the hull boss wants big money as he know a lot of its going to us.

Michael Turner

I thought Charlton got 90 odd % of the fee we sold him to Hull for, I'm sure someone will be on soon to clear it all up :sorted:

Michael Turner

hmmm...
that says how if he moves to a premiership team we get a sell on, nothing about spl, with celtic interested. That could be annoying

Michael Turner

That doesnt really help

Michael Turner

He's got everything you want from a centre back apart from a slight lack of pace but his tackling makes up for that. Injury-free too and that adds up to a long spell in the game. Let's hope he goes for silly money. :)

Michael Turner

bugger....*@$% off Celtic, keep yer hands off

Michael Turner

Haven't a clue why this has been moved to general. Its about our sell on fee isn't it !!!

Bloody mods !

Michael Turner

"a sell on clause should Michael move to a Premiership side"

mentions "Celtic"

:(

Will that be another tick on Greggys babys negotiation skills CV if he goes to Celtic for £5m and we get bugger all. Or maybe we can just blame the CEO at the time. Whoever it was has left now!

I'm blaming you :)

Charlton received a healthy proportion of the transfer fee received from Hull (I think we got roughly two thirds, they got one third) as a sell-on linked to the original (£35K) purchase price (what a steal!). I would be pretty surprised (& peed off) if they can in any way be involved in a sell-on agreement as part of a deal agreed between us & Hull. Seriously hope there is an add-on purely based on transfer value, regardless of whether Premiership or outside. I am sure one of the GPG inner circle can confirm the true scenario.

Michael Turner was a class act in every sense of the word, who was always going to go on to bigger & better things. From memory, MT replaced Leon Cort, who Hull sold to Palace for £900K. If clubs the size of Celtic are sniffing around, this would be a serious piece of business. Hope he heads to the Premiership rather than Scotland, certainly if the sell-on clause is true, although Hull might not see it that way.

Good luck to him (& us!)

Michael Turner

My recollection is that Charlton waived their sell-on from us on the basis that we would split the sell-on from Hull 50-50, should there be one. I think we get 15% each. But clearly if it has to be only if he moves to an English Premiership club, then we don't want him going to the Bhoys, do we? Anyone else interested?

Michael Turner

tbh, i dont think many premiership clubs will be looking to championship defenders, onoly need to look at teams like fulham, sunderland who are full of them, and who have failed to make the grade.

IMHO Turner is a better player than Ingimarsson & could comfortably hack it in the Premiership.

They did. Charlton swapped their 30% sell on fee for a 20% sell on from Hull and half of our 30% sell on from Hull. We got nearly £300k of the initial fee after Charlton's share.

Edmundo said:
It was 30%, but Charlton agreed to reduce it to 20%. Hull will pay 30% of their profit to us and we will split it 50/50 with the Addicks.

these are taken from MJ thread on GPG.

I got to disagree IMHO..

I think it's a good comparison & I can understand you saying that.
Both have fantastic attitudes, neither are that quick, they are more readers of the game. MT is physically bigger, still relatively young & I am banking on the fact that he will continue to learn & improve, especially if he is challenged to move up a level. I think at Hull, they didn't realise what a diamond they had until he had been there for a good half season, as he found the next level. I think he has it in him to step up again.
Ingimarsson has already proved himself in the Prem, done a solid job, but is at / passing his peak.

I can see MT at a Prem club a level above Reading, but only time will tell.

As for the deal with Charlton, that have done us like kippers!
Not taking their sell-on from the £325K (i.e about £100K) in exchange for half of our 30% sell-on from any Hull deal. For every £1M, we will have to give them buggers £150K of our share. Bearing in mind Curtis Davies / Joleon Lescott deals of recent times, with Celtic & their CL cash allegedly in the mix, you can open the bidding at £2.5M & see how silly it gets.

Right, I'm off for a lie down & a cold Gambrinus

Depends how you look at it - they helped negotiate with Hull and I suspect they were rather more adept than we'd have been on our own. I suspect that we might not have got more than 15% anyway.
15% is unusually high sell on clause so glad Charlton involved given our previous history and cunning negotiating....take your pick from John O'Mara, Andy Mac, Nicky Forster and numerous others.

You agree with me :D

We don't have a pretty dire track record when it comes to negotiating sell on clauses and any other sort of clauses for that matter.

To be honest Ed, I fully agree. A club like ours is in no position to say no to £100K as & when it floats past. So many players come to the end of their contracts and move on a free. I really hope MT does move whilst under contract. I am fascinated to see what his market price might be, all in the hope that we land a tasty sell-on from a Premiership fat cat

I'd disagree with that. Turner was a good player, but Ingimarsson as a centre-back was one of the classiest players I've seen at GP.

I think Turner would be lucky to get a Prem team, though he might manage to get in somewhere like Derby. Good luck to him though, and hope we can pick up a few quid from it

I John Moncur with this statement.

think he means Hunt was lucky to get into a prem team
