Micky Adams

Micky Adams was today (8/5) appointed manager of Brighton after a seven year gap.

I thought he was one of our better managers and a good guy. He had a bad deal from Noades who fired him without ever giving him a game let alone a chance and I, for one, wish him well.

This has got to be a wind-up!

Adams was the worst manager this club has had in my 32 years supporting The Bees.
He took over a very poor team from May and made it so much worse. Made some awful signings and got us relegated to a division i thought we'd never see again.

Why do so many people rate Adams?
Look at his CV. A couple of good seasons in how many years of management?
He's taken virtually every club he's been at down and when he managed a team in the lowest division (Swansea) he even took them to their lowest ever place (23rd.) before getting his P45....again.

:imwith:

For every promotion with inherited teams there are several relegations.

Also demanded that Leicester sack Basset and give him the job.

Micky Adams

To be fair, he did bring Andy Scott to the club, although my recollection is that Scott was seen by most fans as pretty useless at the time.

Micky Adams

It was a brilliant interview and sounded like a fan after a spanking in Yeovil. He got more and more angry and stopped at transfer listing them when he really wanted to say he would kill them one by one.

Micky Adams

i like that interview, nice one Micky.
"we looked like a woman whose got a big fur coat on and underneath she's got no knickers on"

Micky Adams

i love that john sitton scene where he goes nuts at the players.

I used to like Micky adams but think he makes himself look a bit of a prat these days... he himself has always flattered to decieve a bit like his players...

What does he expect, he took over Vale who finished 18th in the table, they've beaten Sheff Utd and Sheff Weds in the league cup, and havent had the worst start in the world.

If I was a Vale player I'd say b***ocks to him...

Micky Adams

No surprise. He was doing well there. It seems getting average teams out of League 2 is his talent.

Micky Adams

his wife must be laughing her head off..

Micky Adams

Phew, I thought someone was suggesting we ask him back...

I like Micky, ****ing useless with us but a real nice bloke..

Still like him for his comment T a fans forum.

Fan: Why do you stand up next to the bench?
Mickey: Because you lot sing 'Stand Up If You Hate Fulham'

lol he once told me, that his wife loves him getting the sack, as he gets more money from getting sacked than staying in the job..

I dunno, thought he did not too badly taking it to the last game after the Eddie and Clive shambles.

his stats were worse funny enough, than those two..

Eddie May 5 August 1997 5 November 1997 20 5 5 10 25win %
Micky Adams 5 November 1997 1 July 1998 33 7 15 11 21win%

agreed, also Noades offered him a role as far as I remember but Adams choose to leave..

Micky Adams

Back to Fulham.

A fan on Five live wanted an ex Fulham player, so there you go.

Micky Adams

Agent Adams! I like it.

Don't blame him for turning Noades down... I thought Noades got rid of him ?

Not so.

May got 20 points from 20 games, Micky got 36 from 33 games.

Or you could say May lost half his games in charge, whilst Micky only lost a third of his.

In other words, Draws count, too ;)

Quite right, moving from losing half our games to losing only a third, putting up a good fight in many of them and being unlucky in some (eg IIRC v Watford at home where even Watford fans seemed to agree that we'd been absolutely robbed in losing) was a big achievement. Even if the ultimate difference in points per game was very small and not quite enough, I remember that season as being surprisingly enjoyable to watch as a fan once Adams took over. He got sent to the stands in his first home game v Bristol City where we predictably got thumped, but at least showed that he was up for the battle ahead. Had we carried on with May and with similar results and performances we'd have struggled to have got 2-3k in GP towards the end of the season. Adams instilled enough hope with an admittedly ramshackle set of ageing journeymen that there was a possibility that we might just make it, which meant that it wasn't a waste of time for us to watch.

Wonder whether he would return to Fulscum now that Magath has gone - says he hoping.

Micky Adams

Some decent games under Adams...

Fulham away, Millwall home, Watford home, THAT Luton game...

I had a lot of time for Adams. Genuinely nice fella, who contributed to one of the best away weekends me and the boys have had. Carlisle away - him and Glenn Cockerill were happy to stay up late in the Friday night, having a few beers with us while discussing the team and football in general.
He was a bit unlucky too, arguably our best player at the time was Ijah and if I remember correctly, he broke his leg in Adams' first training session...?

Think. Doubt. Fail.

I often wonder what would have happened if he had stayed and Noades never bought the club, after all we were debt free.

Micky Adams

Really hope it works for him at Tranmere, Seemed like a genuinely good bloke who probably hasn't had the full credit he deserves looking at his promotions record

Micky Adams

He's got a tough job there.

They've been on a downward spiral the last couple of years.

Wasn't it just two years back when they beat us at GP to go / stay top of the league? Now bottom of the lot...although I admire there fans for supporting Tranmere instead of going over the river to watch Liverpool or Everton they are a team I find almost impossible to ever like, just can't do it after all the play off heartbreak at their hands and that keeper Nixon...

Micky Adams

Think I'm right in saying that Tranmere fans voted Brentford Fans the best set of away supporters at the end of 2006/7 ( arguably our worst season ever ) They made the decision after being impressed with the support given on the last game of the season even though all was lost.
Good luck to them and Adams in their relegation fight.

Micky Adams

That was a messy day!!
