Fulscum:
took them to promotion from bottom division then sacked when the money arrived

Swansea:
lasted a couple of weeks then resigned

Bees:
his records over two-thirds of a season was poor - no better than Eddie May's

Brighton:
Left in mid-season

Leicester:
gained promotion by default - they went into administration twice and therefore were able to sign players after their debts were written off

Coventry:
mid-table when he arrived, now in a relegation place

Not too convincing, is it! He should have retired after his first job!

To be fair though, Coventry have been on the slide for years, nothing to do with Micky Adams.

I mean, look at their squad, with the exception of maybe half a dozen of their players none of them are Championship standard, let alone Premiership, and Adams has only been in charge for about 10 games, during which time Coventry have had to play the likes of Sunderland, Wigan, Reading and Preston.

I think they will stay up this season, and then Adams can be more validly judged there next season.

To be fair he did do well at Brighton and Fulham but am glad he is finally being found out.

Yes he did which again he is quick to point out, however he left after about 3 games into the season if I remember rightly. If Wally Downes had left after his first 4 games with us he could of said the same.

Fulham: Got them promoted - shafted by Al Fayed.

Brentford: Kept us fighting for survival until the final day, despite Mr W£bb (in this respect Allen went one better last season, but not many managers compare well against Allen).

Brighton: From the third division to the second division, and well positioned before leaving.

Leicester: Hard to suggest he had an easy ride there. Better was expected of them this season.

Coventry: ??? He's not even been there a year yet. Some Bees fans wanted to carry on backing Wally some 18 months into his wrecking mission! Give MA (that's Micky Adams, not Martin Allen!!!) a chance.

We've had this debate in this forum several times (I see Holysmit got here first this time ), people's opinions differ wildly as to whether his season with us was a success or not.

I don't think anyone could have done a lot more in the position we were in: we hit the bottom of the table on the day of his first game in charge, I believe, and we ended up 1 win from safety. His points-per-game ratio was not much different to May's, but he had a poorer squad to work with: Webb sold Marcus Bent half way through that season, and at one point towards the end of the season our injury crisis was so bad that we could only name 12 players for an LDV game and he picked himself as a sub.

Neither manager seemed to have any money or support from the board, so the "May = terrible, Adams = unlucky saviour" equation may be a bit dubious, who knows what would've happened if Uncle Ron had left Adams in charge. I'm amazed he was prepared to stay with the club at all beyond the end of the season, considering how bleak the outlook was with Webb still there.

How can you debate whether it was a success!? We got relegated so i think you either have to say it was terrible or at best unfortunate under circumstances, i dont think the word success comes in to it!

I disagree When people say Adams had his arms completely tied behind his back that season, he brought in a lot of players (Scott, Watson, Aspinall, Hogg) Scott for decent money so there was a base of players which were of his chosing but results never improved. He failed

The reality is that he was no better for us than May, although Aspinall was a joy to behold! Nobody was particularly sorry to see him go. It is only since he has become a success elsewhere that people express any sort of regret.

Whilst I'm a firm believer that dodgy decisions and bad luck even themselves out over the course of a season, my honest opinion of the season that we went down was that we were b1oody unlucky to go down. The 110% effort was there, the fitness levels improved under Mickey and apart from the results, BFC was a fun place.

Hogg - who can forget the normal GP Warnock bust-up when Colin shoved Hogg at the half-time whistle accusing him of going o.t.t. when no-one else knew what the hell he was going on about, Hogg's face was frightening ! lol

Aspinall - the best fans' song for a player ever and the time he smacked the opposition player by New Road ! lol

Apart from that, Mickey Adams is one helluva nice bloke.

Micky Adams was today (8/5) appointed manager of Brighton after a seven year gap.

I thought he was one of our better managers and a good guy. He had a bad deal from Noades who fired him without ever giving him a game let alone a chance and I, for one, wish him well.

Noades offered him a coaching deal if memory serves me correct. He turned that down so left.

Feel a bit sorry for Wilkins, who on a small budget for the divsion has led them to a decent finish just outside the play offs. Playing football too rather than the Adams preferred style.

Agree with all of that - With the possible exception of Butcher the worst football I have had to endure at Griffin Park

When linked to jobs Brentfords name is often left off the list of clubs that Adams has managed for obvious reasons. he was crap at Brentford and like a previous poster pointed out had a worse record than Eddie May

The 4-0 at Northampton was one of the worst performances I've seen by a Brentford side.
