Am hoping to see a post similar on the match day thread this time tomorrow: if Leeds score in the next 10 minutes they'll need to score two more in the next 30 minutes to draw the game.

Goals rate required would be 1 every 15 minutes.

Wishful thinking !

Middlesex CCC 2014.

Well done lads and Nada Bee. 16 points clear in the end. Phew that was close.:)

Middlesex CCC 2014.

Well done The Middle.

But this must never happen again.

Middlesex CCC 2014.

Well done to the Middle. Unfortunately this might only serve to apper over the cracks as change is needed before next year to ensure we are not in a similar position.

Had a very long email from the head of Sky cricket who tells me that Paul Allott is hurt by my biased comments - do bear in mind that he is a Lancs committee member. Thought todays coverage was much better, the pathetic Colvile alluded to the fact that there had been some complaints so maybe they took note. Interesting to hear Rogers' comments at the end, might go with the Aussies to the West Indies in May and be part of the ashes team but also very keen to play again and end his career with Middlesex where he feels very much at home. Don't know how you square that circle but expect to hear more when I'm at Lords on Monday week.

In the meantime 3 points tomorrow please.

Middlesex CCC 2014.

Not had to much time over the last couple of days to keep up with events at Lancs so a big thanks to everyone for all the updates especially Nada Bee well done mate....

Middlesex CCC 2014.

Cracking performance from both teams and an impressive defence by Middlesex on the final day.

Perhaps both sides should have made similar efforts during the rest of the season!

Middlesex CCC 2014.

Some of the radio commentary was good, but some of it was absolutely ridiculous.. All that regular giggling in the background , was almost like canned laughter for a couple of very weak comedians, who even managed to include a couple of oral sex innuendos:eek:

For heavens's sake this was a gripping finale to a crucial relegation match and it really deserved to be treated with more respect...

Middlesex CCC 2014.

everytime I watch Middlesex play on tv I get the feeling we are the millwall of the cricket world. Not many fans it's got to be said.

The Sky commentators, as has been mentioned earlier, was ridiculous, totally biased towards Lancashire, capped off this morning when Jimmy Anderson was rolled out.

Who were they? You'd expect David Lloyd and Mike Atherton to have a slight favouritism towards the fairer county of the North.

Well, here are copies of my emails sent and reply on this subject. I have a senior contact at Sky who provided me with the initial contact name.

Dear xxxxx,

Sorry to trouble you but I really must complain about the totally biased commentry on this match.

You have 3 ex Lancs players (Atherton, Cork, Allott), an ex Surrey Player (Butcher, who will certainly not talk Middx up) and the pathetic Colevile (Surrey "fan") doing his usual village idiot impersonation.

Why no chat with Gus, Chris Rogers at close of play etc everything has been from a Lancs perspective.

Absolutely pathetic,

Yours in disgust,
Hugh C Edwards

Their reply :-

Dear Hugh,

My name is Bryan Henderson and I am the Executive Producer of cricket at Sky Sports. I am responding to your email to xxxx.

I'm sorry the coverage is not to your satisfaction and that you are in fact "disgusted" with our efforts.

I also don't agree with your views however I'm afraid. The story yesterday was Glenn Chapple hence why he was interviewed post play. We have spoken to Chris Rogers twice during the match. The interviews count is exactly level between the two teams. Angus Fraser asked not to speak to us this week or take up the offer of commentary.

While it's true we have three Lancashire ex players the commentators were rotad to do this match before the game was chosen.

I have spoken to Paul who whilst accepting he wants Lancashire to win takes great exception to any accusation of biased commentary.

Michael Atherton is one of the most respected commentators in the world.

Naturally I am going to defend my team but I am genuinely concerned you feel the way you do.

Very happy to discuss further. Thank you for watching and for getting in touch.

Kind regards
Bryan

To which I have replied :-

Dear Bryan,

Thank you very much for taking the trouble to reply to my message, I didn't
answer your email earlier as I have been absolutely riveted to your coverage
of the cricket, I doubt if I have missed more than a dozen balls over the 4
days.

I have been a member of Middlesex CCC for well over 40 years and a life
member for 28 years, having seen my first game at Lords when Compton, Edrich
and Jack Robertson were plying their trade. You could say that I am a
passionate supporter but that would be an understatement. Hence my
disappointment to see you field such an array of Lanky and Surrey
commentators.

I must say that I found the coverage today much better and don't know if
that was due to other comments by Middlesex fans (see their comments on the
MTWD forum) or a realisation that their game was up. The absence of Mike
Atherton (sorry, not my favourite after the "dirt in the pocket" incident)
and what seemed like greater use of Nick Knight (someone who I have a lot of
respect for).

The one guy I have no time for is Charles Colvile (sorry again, but always
looking to stir something up that doesn't exist and making himself look like
a complete amateur). Great when he gets taken to task in particular by
Dominic Cork.

Enough rambling, I look forward to your winter coverage (but definitely not
the IPL).

Regards,
Hugh Edwards
