Why can't the Middlesex team stay out of Surrey when playing home matches?![]()
Since when was Richmond in Middlesex? Don't blame politicians of any class for your geographical ignorance!
Whitton and Twickenham have always been in Middlesex, Richmond in Surrey - there's a natural boundary that even you couldn't fail to spot.
Did you know that the first game of cricket between two counties took place on Richmond Green? And that the visitors were Middlesex?

Isn't Richmond Green on the same side (Middlesex side) of the natural boundary as Twickenham Green.![]()
No - Richmond Green is clearly south of the boundary, which is the river Thames. And Twickenham Green is on the north side of the boundary. Even though Richmond Green is further north than Twickenham Green.
In all my born years, I never realised that Richmond Green was South of the river. Or Kew Gardens. Dickhead. Well it's West of the river at the nearest point. However it's definitely on the south side of the Thames.

I fancy doing the T20 game at Richmond,Middx V Hants in June.
I have only watched the mighty crusaders at Lords the home of cricket.

I've just spotted that they're at Richmond playing Hants next Sunday. I thought they didn't use it any more. Anyone going?![]()

 We're sh*t and we know we are. Time for some big changes at The Oval, I feel - this squad is too old and not as good as it thinks it is.
Middlesex batted, bowled and fielded better (in fact thats a bit too harsh on them they did all three superbly). Very professional job, a big improvement in what i've seen of them in previous years.
Good luck to Kent, but is Joe Denly a real prospect? Let's hope so, but I think county cricket as currently structured is not providing the kind of second-tier cricket that England needs to compete consistently with the Aussies.

Ramps will get to his 100th hundred and I still reckon he'll be the last.
Lucky win for the team in girlie pink tonight, what about that missed throw at the stumps from less than a foot.

Wait until you see the German fellow's effort.![]()
I think the problem is that the standard of cricket below international level isn't high enough to develop players to the required level and keep them there - like the Aussies manage with their State cricket. Too many mediocre players hanging on for their benefit year and not enough sharpness, because there are too many games and it's just a slog around England's motorways.Denly's record in all forms of cricket is adequate and he has proved himself in England colours. The problem is that instead of blooding players against the lesser teams such as NZ, we stick doggedly with out of form players like Bell and Collingwood when we should be exposing the likes of Denly, Hildreth and Bopara instead.
Central contracts seem to create a clique which is very hard for county players to break into which makes life very difficult when they are asked to make the step up. Changes are nearly always made when the side is struggling against good opposition - what do you think Denly's chance will be if they drop Collingwood after a poor test against a strong South African side for example? I cite Ravi Bopara as a recent example - dropped like a stone after three tough tests in Sri Lanka.
