Miguel Llera

Complete liability today. Kept giving ball away and gave away needless free kicks 3rd goal etc cost us the match on his own.

Mk Dons mate at work said he's great at scoring but is a liability at the back! And laughed when he heard we had him. Why/how is he keeping Edger out the team??

He played well today and on Tues. The question is whether Eger should replace Osborne IMO.

Karleigh had a very poor game by his standards today IMO, but he and Llera are the first choice pair for me. Eger's not done enough in my view to warrant a starting place.

Eger is IMO a more intelligent player and I doubt he would have been caught napping for their first goal which was due to a lack of concentration. Karleigh is better in the air but not IMO better in other aspects particularly positional play.

Miguel Llera

Agree Karleigh had a bad day however look who he was up against. One game against one of the best teams in this division!
Llera was penalised for a foul, exactly similar to the one on Tuesday night, opposition seemed to go down holding their face/heads as if they had been elbowed, I didnt think tuesdays was a foul. Defensivly hes good also helps hes left footed, can also hit a long pass, his height is handy too :)

I don't necessarily disagree with that but from what I've seen of Eger, he lacks the physical presence and would've struggled today as a result. I've come to expect very high standards from Karleigh and IMO he's delivered that more often than not for over a season. He's had two poor games in a short space of time this year and with nobody being guaranteed a place, he'll need to improve to be sure of retaining his place.

I agree and would have played Eger today based on Llera's performance on Tuesday, which wasn't poor but did show defensive flaws which Preston exploited today. He's good cover while Legge is out, but Eger should be in at the moment alongside Osborne.

Llera looks suited to playing against big forwards who he can dominate. Quick, mobile player today Hume and he looked awkward and likely to give away free kicks as he wrestles players.

Football's all about opinions isn't it? I thought Llera was outstanding on Tues and played well today. Won his headers and tackles and lots of good distribution.

Miguel Llera

I thought Llera did ok today. Osborne had a mare for the first, he had to be stronger then Mellor

Miguel Llera

That's not very fair TBH.

Yeah liability is a bit harsh, but I think his days are numbered. Constantly mediocre and didn't have a good game today and many others, especially now we've got Blair Adams who looked great on Tuesday night. Woodman is a very defensive defender, which is ok, but Adams looks more like Dickson in the sense that he defends and gets forward effectively. Thats my humble opinion anyway...

Miguel Llera

karleigh was as usual an accident waiting to happen .
Sorry karleigh fans but thats the way I see it

He just nudged Karleigh off balance as he turned, clever stuff.

Miguel Llera

Thought Llera did ok today personally. Osborne did get out muscled though. :nono:

Miguel Llera

Llera should never have been signed in my opinion, we have a centre back already and when Legge got injured Eger should have come in for him, what kind of message is this sending Eger? he would have had 5/6 games to get sharp, up to speed with the English game and properly match fit.

Now he's languishing on the bench with all the other half fit players.

If we needed a loan CB then he should be the one on the bench and so far nothing I have seen from Llera has convinced me he is anything but avergage.

Miguel Llera

He is horrendous, a few long passes on Tuesday and people were sucked in but the bloke cant defend. Dont understand all this about him being suited to the physical side of the game either he is terrible at dealing with anything in the air gets in a mess and concedes stupid fouls. Leon Legge cant come back soon enough.

Karleigh made one mistake but covered for llera being too slow and out of position loads of times, especially that excellant tackle when he injured himself having to come across with a late ditch slide which looked a certain goal . people will forget that. Osborne also was the only one of the pair heading out crosses into the box.

I'll reserve judgement until he's had few games to settle in but on Tuesday thought he was excellent and today struggled but he is very good in the air. I thought he won every header, it was on the deck I have concerns.

Miguel Llera

Played well on Tuesday, but looked shaky today, i'd rather play Eger, who didn't deserve to be dropped and is our player.

Yep, I think his days are numbered as well, with about 4 or 5 others currently playing or on the bench. Xmas may see a minor clear out and some more of UR type players coming in. End of season will be the big change and If we are lucky to go up...............well that's another story.

Miguel Llera

Sadly wasn't there today but I'm always baffled about the persistent criticism of KO.

He has poor games - doesn't everyone? But, consider this, if we are to play with two very attacking fullbacks we MUST have pace at CB. No-one else at the club - ML, ME, LL or even Pim - has that pace. If we have two slow fullbacks we will need that pace just as much.

To replace KO with a powerful centre half with pace will cost BIG TIME. I can't think of such a player in our price range - can anyone else?

All the defence, including Lee, were second best against PNE... but Llera was the best of the bunch. Their players had the experience to dish it out in just the right quantities (like Alexander does) and only Llera stood up to it. Thompson can be forgiven for his inexperience; the good Karleigh didn't turn up and was the wrong side of Mellor for the first goal, then had 30 minutes of panic play; Woodman paid the price for being Woodman and, when he did get forward, left a hole at the back. We were unbalanced with two solid but slow players on the left and two quicker but panicky players of the right, none of them helped by Lee having some dodgy moments. Bad day at the office but PNE were Championship class.

Miguel Llera

Sorry, I was actually picking up the point in Matt's 2nd para which I totally agree with. I can see that that may not have come across.

He wasn't criticising Karleigh...it was Llera

Absolutely spot on Matt the bloke is a joke and why the F*** is he wasting free kicks. He gives away needless fouls which have cost us 2 points on Tuesday and quite possibly the chance of a draw against Preston. Play Eger until Legge is back, keep changeing Karleighs partner its hardly suprising he's looking less secure than normal.

Miguel Llera

Osborne was at fault for two goals, outmuscled for the first and allowed Mellor to wander away from him in the box for the third

Miguel Llera

And where pray was Llera when all this was going on?

Marking his own man!! Where else would he be? Or are your expecting the poor fella to mark all the forwards? :banghead: unbelievable....

How many chances did we miss on Tuesday and yesterday come to that? Maybe you need to be ripping into the forwards and midfielders. A defender defends. But tell me how many times has Legge, Eger and Osborne played and NOT made an error or given away a free kick?

Miguel Llera

On Beesplayer ,Sam Saunders was eulogising about Llera's great ability with free kicks. And I reckon Sam can be regarded as quite an expert on the subject.
I think last Tuesday's effort that almost hit a 65 bus, was the exception rather than the rule...

I've heard from Charlton supporters that he takes a great free kick.

Miguel Llera

But what it all boils down to is: If he was that good, why did Charlton let him go to us? Decent at best, but I can't wait until Legge and Logan are back...

He left Charlton to join Blackpool in a higher division.

Don't let rationale and logic come into it abee, I'd stay awH mate I'm pulling my hair out at some of the posts bordering on cretinous off the back of failing to sign established Internationals as short term replacements - what are the board playing at ?

Given the tone of a lot of the comments on here regarding Llera, Grella and Clarkson I would suggest you and the management team give up being ambitious and bringing in players from higher divisions and just stick with the squad we have and allow us to atrophy rather than progress,

I cannot believe how negative and one-eyed some people are.

Agree 100%, embarrassing we're starting to sound like the whinging Arsenal and Spurs supporters who call into 5 live.

Miguel Llera

I can

He's a ball playing CB which is style Uwe likes

And I have to say, having Lee rolling the ball out to him gives far more reassurance than passing it to Leon.

Miguel Llera

I found his rolling around on the floor after a couple of challenges a little embarrassing.

Miguel Llera

I thought he was pretty damned good against PNE, he and McGinn the only bright sparks (in an otherwise fairly woeful display - PNE were good, level with Norwich and Southampton last year, but a full strength Bees would have won that)

I overheard Saunders - free kick connoisseur -( who was helping out with commentary on Sat) emphatically eulogising about Llera's FK's: "Llera has got free kicks down to a fine art in training" to quote. And some interesting compliments about Grella in training, too.

ON another note, I predicted 1-3 scoreline. Why did I not bet!?

I though he did OK Saturday. Had some nice touches and looked fairly confortable. I did not think he was as dominant in the air as I expected. Hume brought the ball down a few times on our left when him and Woodman were challenging and a lot of their forward play came that way. Would not say he has cemented his place in the team by a long stretch but I am very fond of a centre back that can play and he can unlike Legge.

With Llera and Osborne at the back I'd say we have to of the the best distibutors of the ball in thier position for this league, and possibly most of the league above.

Miguel Llera

His distribution has been excellent the past two games I have seen.

However I did think that Legge the heading machine was missed a little in that match with the crosses/long balls all through the game with prestons very physical front line.
