For a Loan we might as well yeah :) I liked him even though he wasnt the most talented he worked hard for us, and did score the odd goal.

He has just signed a year's extension to his contract - so that will be expensive for us.

Mind you any more signings like this one - and he will for sure be toast!

I wonder if last season's suspensions and injuries have set him back: if he jumps normally, he gets a red card; if someone else injures him, ref does nothing

If I remember rightly, In a interview in the summer Scott said he wasn't going to extend Cort's contract past January regardless, So if that is the case we could do with Elder back.

Nathan is a great asset to any League 2 side.
He aided us to the Championship last season and if supported by fans, he will do well for you.

I don;t understand why any fan would visit other fans forums to slag off their own players.

You aren't very loyal are you ?

In a interview in the summer Scott said he wants players to get us out of this league, he sold him as it was good for him and the club:wave:

Well he hasn't exactly done a good job so far this season so why not bring him back lol:wave:

He has had the fans' support, including mine, but he really isn't very good.

After a while like that, like all fans, they kinda give up.

Has he even started a league game for them yet. Soccerbase has him down as 7 apps from the bench with 2 goals. Not too bad :shrug:

Elder gave everything for us and helped win us the Championship. He makes a short substitute appearance in your cup debacle and your manager slags him off on your web-site. Looks to me like a manager who's about to get the bullet and is looking for a few scape goats.

And less than two weeks ago Simpson said this

Shrews boss Paul Simpson defended Elder, saying: "I've heard the grumbles from fans, but Nathan will always work his socks off."

Simpson added: "He'll get a lot of satisfaction from that goal, and hopefully his performances will improve even more."

Elder said that Simpson has been supportive during the drought, and that he enjoyed making the score sheet again.

"The way this manager works is that if you're working hard, you're running and running, the goals come second to that. He takes you on your work rate not just your stats and that's the main thing."

Sadly, big Nath's career has been blighted by bad luck, a run in with tw*twell and a terrible injury. It would be a big backwards step to bring him back but the Nathan Elder of the early 2008/9 season was a good player for us. I wonder if any of our current forwards will have seven goals by mid December ?

It was a good move for Elder( 3 year deal )and good move for the club offloading a player who would have been out of his depth in league 1 i'm afraid.Hope he can get a move to another club but doubt if he is in a rush with still 30 months left on his contract.

Although it does say he's only 5ft 9. lol

He's better than that, although he may not have shown it in his very short time with you thus far. He was an important part of the side which finished top of the League he's currently playing in so I think it's a little early to be dismissing his abilities yet.

You won't find anyone who'll argue he'd be able to replace Grant Holt but he's no Unibond player either.

Shrewsbury fans should be blaming Simpson not Elder because people expected him to replace Holt and he never was going to do that and this just heaped loads more pressure on Elder, if Simpson bought Elder and a more natursl goalscorer it would be different for you lot it is Simpson you should be questioning. Had money last year and didnt go up and dont look like you are going up this season.

If you want to come on here and slag a player off, how about someone that didn't make such a telling contribution for our club both on and off the pitch?

I'm sure all those Bees fans haven't forgotten "Big Nath" sat with us at Bournemouth last season, and celebrating alongside us. He's a great lad, with a big heart, and I hope he does well at whatever club he ends up at. If Scotty resigns him, I'd maybe raise an eyebrow, but he'd get 100% backing from me, whether he plays well or awfully, because I like the guys attitude. He isn't the most talented player in the world I admit, but he possesses the attitude that I look for in all Brentford players, and is so sadly lacking in the current side!! :(

I'm sure Nathan himself is having a whale of a time, given that he was pretty much slagged off from the start of the season for not being Grant Holt, as far as I could tell.

Now he's been made a scapegoat for your poor cup game - in which he barely figured - so I hope he gets a move away to somewhere where he's a bit more appreciated and then maybe he will be able to show his qualities. I hope it costs you a fortune in the meantime.

Elder is a tough cookie. He will be a crowd favourite again, whether its at Shrews is another matter, but he has a point to prove and with his level of determination i back him to win round the Shrewsbury faithful. You show 'em Nate Dogg!

Maybe so, but far kinder than you've been about one of our former players. The fact that Bees fans have been so quick to jump to the defence of one of their former players should be an indication of the high regard in which he was held and you don't draw the sort of defence from supporters of your former club if you're sh*t do you. :shrug:

He may be no Grant Holt but it seems to me that many of your fans had made their minds up about him before he'd kicked a ball for you.
