New Contracts

please don't offer a new contract to callum willock terry

he was a total failure at peterborough in the fourth
(which is why barry fry bit our hand off when we actually offered to pay money for him.) he tries but he has no talent and if he's still here next season he will score three goals as we descend into the conference

please do offer a good new contract to charlie ide
who is going to get better and better and is going to score
between 15-20 goals for brentford next year.

opponents will be terrified of him and
you can build a bright new team around his enthusiasm

your managerial success was at motherwell where you say you played
two pacey small strikers upfront and personally i'd like to see you
deploy that tactic at brentford

New Contracts

yes i agree to, hope for good - assistant manager with non league experience up the bees always

New Contracts

if we give willock a new contract it will be one of the biggest mistakes we could ever make-if we signed 20 non-league strikers with decent goalscoring records the chances are at least 15 of them would be better than him.

this guy is rubbish, he tries his best but so would i if i was a professional footballer

New Contracts

Agree with flowerpowerbee. We need to keep Charlie and Jo (yes, I know Jo is probably going) We must make serious attempts to lose Willock and Brooker and several others. Lloyd and Hewood have not been good value. And I'm doubtful how good value KOC and Frampton are.

New Contracts

There shouldn't be any new contracts offered to anyone bar Ide. The rest have cost us dearly and should go off a sort themselves out elsewhere. Hopefully a few of the contracted players will do likewise once TB has had a word.

We need a fresh start and the less existing players he has to take on in his squad the better IMO. There are a few maybes in that squad but we should fortget sentimentand start from scratch for the good of the Club.

Every player must be mentally scarred to some extent as a result of the last 9 months so it's in theie interest as well as ours.

I also hope that O'connor and Frampton are talking to their agents. I don't hate them the way others do but they're damaged goods at Brentford now so the best thing for all is a fresh start so we can re-invest the large salaries on a decent striker or two rather than full backs.

I think we should all hope that Dennis Wise stays at Leeds. ;)

New Contracts

It's funny how quickly people forget just how good Kuffor has been all season, the one player we should be fighting to the death to keep.

Willock is actually a good striker when compared to some in the division below.

Some of the hate aimed towards him is just laughable.

New Contracts

Terry, don't listen to the people who are slagging Kevin O'Connor, he was one of our best players last year and hasn't been any worse than the rest. Let Frampton go, he's a carthorse who can only hoof the ball, usually out of play.

If it were possible to persuade Jo to stay he would be electric in league 2...if he had a decent strike partner...not Owusu please. All the others, except Ide are simply not good enough....good luck Tel....you need it !!

New Contracts

callum Willock= no contract he is sh*t
paul brooker =is a ****ing crap no contract get rid of asap

tillen =stay for another season
heywood=hit the road son
griffths=thanks for going mate

:sorted:

New Contracts

Going by the fact that @40% of the budget is taken by contracted players i think its inevitable that at least half a dozen youngsters (in addition to Ide) will form a big chunk of say a 22 man squad.
Probably Masters, Osbourne, Charles and Dark. Mousinho and Carde-Andrews are under contract. You would think the defenders especially would relish the chance to work with TB. Wouldnt surprise me if Karleigh breaks through next season and becomes a regular, anyone with pace has a head start on the others IMHO
TB needs to move on some of the expensive contracted players ASAP to give himself room to manoeuvre. Probably his priority right now...

New Contracts

Osbourne, Charles, Dark, Montague, Moushino, Ide, Kuffour, Abbey, Frampton, Tillen, Keith :sorted:

Right there's 11 - handful for fairly regular first team appearances, now get a better 11 and we're laughing :sorted: We've got to remember we are in the basement and some of the above will do well in that league.

The rest

Kuffour's gone and Ide is ok - out of the rest I'd be disappointed if they played more than half a dozen games each.

He's signed for another club by all accounts so it's best to channel energies elsewhere. I don't think we can match 2-3k a week anyway.

New Contracts

Does anyone know which players are out of contract and which ones we're stuck with for at least another year?

:imwith: We can't afford to be relying on the youngsters again next season. Butcher needs to get as many of the current squad out as possible and start again from scratch.

Cant see the sums adding up for the squad to be dominated by senior/experienced pros. Having a few youngsters on relatively low wages frees up more £s for experienced players.
Agree that the first team shouldnt have too many kids at once in Div4, some will probably just be making the numbers up but Ide is a shoe in (if we can keep him) and Osbourne could feature prominently, has decent potential IMHO.
Fitz was also right when he said it was the experienced pros at GP who were mostly to blame for our demise this season. Hopefully TB can arrange a mass clear out. The team was so poor yesterday it was embarrassing, Tranny made it look like a kickabout in the park and they were no great shakes

New Contracts

what a shocking mess this club is in

to summarise...

player of the year kuffour has gone

the two other players most of us would want to stay,
charlie ide and nathan abbey haven't been offered new contracts yet
and there's no guarantee they'll accept them if they are

there are half a dozen high-earning senior pros, four of whom developed phantom injuries immediately relegation was confirmed, that most of us would prefer not ever to see in the club colours again

then there are youngsters such as charles and osbourne
who may or may not develop into decent professionals.
what's certain is that they are not yet ready for
the hurly burly of division 4

if terry butcher was looking for a career challenge,
he's certainly found one

New Contracts

Willock is actually a good striker when compared to some in the division below.

Willock isn't the worst striker we've had at the club this season.

Wine Yard or Onion Bhaji make Willock look good.

New Contracts

I've only see Willock try hard this season when he's played and not take the piss. He's started 17 or 18 games and scored 3 goals maybe 4? not sure. He's started less games then Ide even. I've also seen him assist 4 goals while he's been playing. Now in such a poor team I don't think that's a terrible return and deserves such a hostile reaction compared to some of the players.

He's quick, strong, tall and holds the ball up fairly well, he's scoring touch has let him down but his all round play I think beens decent this season. I suspect given more confidence he would of scored several more, don't forget he's started a lot less games then a few players. I don't think you're going to get a much better replacement for next season with our budget.

It's just like Leon, he never got a long run in the team to prove himself, left and started banging in goals all over the place.

He's crap.

He's crap.

Fair enough if that's your opinion. If you've honestly never seen him play well this season or show any potential at all. I think I've seen differently and think people go over the top on Willock because it's the thing to do.

If the right manager brings out confidence in him I think he'd be around a 15 goal striker, just my opinion. Defenders hate playing against him.

I'm not saying he's amazing or anything but say he goes, are we going to find a replacement? look how hard it was to find a striker this season. Not many big strong mobile strikers out there, usually they're big and strong or just mobile just like Shipperley.

I'll be so annoyed if he goals to another league 2 club as I know what will happen.

Everyone likes Willock, he seems a really decent bloke and clapped us at the end at Tranny with smiles and thumbs up. However this nice bloke is a crap footballer and sadly it has failed. I hope he bangs in goals galore for his next side and finds his level or form again but I don't want a 5 hour journey to Accrington next season hoping that CW can bring us home 3 points, I've hoped too many times and it ain't getting any closer.

How do you know contract negociations are not in progress ?

Just prepare yourself for the following...
-No information for 2 months, just rumour and speculation...
Wait till August, and see who turns up in the first game of the season..

.... but I don't want a 5 hour journey to Accrington next season .......

5 hours.....Northampton to Accrington ?

BFC has a club option on Charlie Ide for next season so he has no choice but to accept if TB wishes to have him here next season. I would have thought that TB would be offering him a longer and better contract instead.

As for Abbey, this is up to TB in deciding whether he wants him at Brentford next season.

This week is shaping up to be very interesting.

New Contracts

Although I've seen nothing that makes me believe that Willock will make a league footballer, he is quick and runs around a lot, making a right nuisance of himself. He has scored goals for Peterborough, so he could not have tripped over and knocked them in every single time. Given that Willock is probably quite cheap, as he lives nearby, he is the sort of player that I'd hang onto, if only to warm the bench. If we have a first-choice front pair, he could play the target man to 'little' and the runner to 'large'.

I'd say there will be a few signing on by the end of the week (at the Jobcentre!)

I'm sure TB was saying he was letting the players know who's staying/going at the training ground Tue/Wed this week. So someone get down there and give us the gossip!! :D

I'm afraid that I cant see the connection between living locally and being cheap. I can assure you that Willock is not cheap. He may not be as expensive as Brooker or Heywood or Frampton or O Connor but in relative terms he is earning far more than a player of such limited ability deserves. I've heard rumours that one of the reasons Tabb left was that having asked for a bit more money and been told "no" that Willock was then brought in on considerably more.

I have to say that if Terry Butcher even considers for more than 3 seconds offering this lame excuse for a footballer a new contract then we have got the wrong bloke in charge.

Willock is absolute pony and his goals to games ratio since he arrived from Peterborough is nothing short of a disgrace. Its not as though when he isn't scoring he is creating. He does nothing ever. I'm afraid I must have missed the games in which you describe him as having made a "right nuisance of himself". (unless you are referring to the impact he has on his own team that is !)

Nobody on more than £750 a week in the current squad who is out of contract should be offered a new one. Full stop.

I agree. It all rather depends on the "probably quite cheap", and the alternatives. If one of them is the guy we had on loan from MK Dons then I'd rather have Willock. He has shown some flashes of ability, and I wonder what he'd be like with the manager's backing and more confidence. He certainly ticks the big, quick and ungainly boxes that defenders seem to hate.

But there again, he cost £50K, and none of his first three  Brentford managers seemed to rate him, although Leroy gave him a reasonable chance. He probably has a pretty good contract now, and aren't the rules that renewed contracts have to be better than what went before?

Is it a case of the devil you know? :fishing:

If that is our basis for engaging players for next season then we are sunk.

Sometimes you have to be ruthless, the best example of this was Martin Allen is 2004 when he cleared the decks. The same thing must happen this summer, we simply don't have the spare cash for hangers-on.

New Contracts

I really can't believe anyone is arguing for keeping Willock on his form to date. if he was moderately effective we would have gone up in 2005-06. He has been very poor to date.

New Contracts

... I can assure you that Willock is not cheap.

My argument is on the basis that he is cheap bench-fodder so, if he's not  I have no knowlege whatsoever about who earns what, except from what I read on here, most of which is plain unbelievable.

I revert to the first line of my post.

tbh you can only justify his wages as a first teamer. He's not the most expensive but he's certainly be up there. We can do much better for the money imo.

New Contracts

I've missed loads of games this season due to work rosters but always listen to Bees World commentary either live or recorded and CW gets a right old panning from the commentators. So while they're dropping the mike, coughing, or getting the Comms lead pulled out of the interface I start to think if they have declared open season on him then maybe he's not good enough. Comments?

Agree

New Contracts

Alright guys! Went out on the piss last night in Windsor. In club liquid saw Alex Rhodes. I cant believe how much this guy is stuck up his own arse! He said i does not know whether he is going to get a new contract but feels he deserves one. He said he was the only player vs tranmere on Saturday to have the most shots on goal. I asked him about other players but he said he did not know a thing because he has only been back a week from loan. The rest of the night he was giving it the big i am a pro footballer to everyone. Dont think he deserves a new contract!

New Contracts

I think the people on here who want Willock to get a new contract are doing it out of the sentiment that he seems to be a nice guy.

While its not nice to see a nice person lose their job and potentially not get another one, sadly we can't let sentiment effect us.

Willock isn't good enough and shouldn't get a contract, I wish him well he tried hard and I can respect that but we have to put ourselves first.

New Contracts

There can only be one player to have most shots on goal !!

Yeah but he was a sub surely someone else had more shots! He was really bigging himself up to be a great player but is not. His ego was way too big!

New Contracts

willock has to go.
he's a ryman league striker on division one wages
and we cannot afford him either on or off the pitch

i want to see tony mahoney or robbie cooke style forwards at this club. exciting players with desire and it should be down to butcher's
no2 to help unearth them for us because i'm damn sure they're out there

It is ironic that most of the players we don't want are on longer contracts,
and players we do need i.e Kuffor, Ide, Abbey have not been tied up on longer deals before now.

New Contracts

I'll never forget that penalty he won against Barnsley for as long as I live rofl rofl
