Half of the uncovered Town End at Priestfield Stadium is currently closed off due to damaged flooring after years of exposure to the elements. The club are now considering what to do with the much-criticised stand.
Why stop just there, keep going until it's all flattened.

Steve Cripps from PMC Construction provides an update on the redevelopment work being undertaken in the Milton End.
It was a crime they spunked all that money in the Prem on player wages and the ground is a dump.
There's quite a few others that fall into that category too.

It’s just poor design. Absolutely no need for columns on something that shallow and as @Garybaldbee alludes to above, I don’t think it would even cost anymore to cantilever! Makes me wonder if they bypassed getting a design done by an independent engineer and just went straight to a builder with a brief of “Can you give us a quote to build a new stand?”
It was a very strange place to go in those days. Dunno the history of the changes, but, yes, one of the stands was 50 yards away from the touch line.

That’s real support. I look back at our (fans) ownership of the club and I feel we didn’t get enough fans who worked in trades involved - it could have saved us a few quid.
"Last Sunday there were about twelve volunteers there, two electricians on the re-wiring, one lad doing all the drilling and cable pulling for them, another leccy sorting the lighting in the changing room toilets, two lads litter picking and general tidying, five painting the exterior HSE wall, one measuring up & sorting materials to alter the dugout layout to meet new EFL regs."
What happens when they have to install rail seating in that stand when they reach the Championship?

Because they have been able to do it without closing the stand
Lots of PL clubs haven't had to do that when they've added a 2nd tier to an existing stand and I wouldn't have thought it was necessary to curtain off the lower tier whilst the build was going on behind it.
If you mean fire, cross laminated timber and Glulam (presumably what they'd be using here) have excellent fire resisting properties - often better than steel depending on the situation. ot convinced by the 'all wooden stadium' claim however. Will be interested to see the toilets.
Complete upper first on the new expanded footprint so it's ready for the new season.
Couldn't you remove the first few rows of seats (or however many rows necessary) to extend the pitch in to? I.e. the old row F becomes the new row A?
6 rows of 700mm seat depth to create the 4 m extra that they need.
I think you see that type of arrangement a fair bit in Europe (the San Siro is the one that immediately springs to mind) but quite unusual here. But yes, it would reduce capacity unless the loss was being 'recovered' with an additional tier etc.
Probably. But to extend the pitch you wouldn’t have to knock the stand down.
