Development at Bournemouth. It will be a building site for our visit in September. From what I can understand the infills that are referred to will initially increase the capacity by around 800 but will not increase the away allocation. The increase in stadium capacity to 20k will not be completed until some point season 2027-28, we even got a mention 😂.

From the BBC:

Manchester United have taken a significant step towards a new 100,000-capacity stadium by buying the majority of the land needed to build it close to their current home at Old Trafford.

According to sources, United have now acquired a triangle of roads that connect close to the car parks behind the Stretford End, which gives them a 25-acre site sufficient for their new stadium.
United believe their chosen site will offer greater opportunity for stops on the city's Metrolink system and, also, the wider rail network, which will help ferry supporters to what would become England's biggest stadium.

I see that the above redevelopment, due to be completed by 2030-ish, will bring capacity up to 53k.

But seeing as they already own a massive patch of land beside the stadium, and have such an enormous fanbase - or so they tell us - why didn't they do eg like Spurs, and build a brand new stadium adjacent to the existing one (pitch rotated 90 degrees)? That way they could easily have achieved 60k+ capacity, with ultra-modern hospitality, conferencing and non-footballing facilities etc, instead of trying to update/adapt a stadium which is already getting on for 50 years old.

Oh, wait, maybe someone mentioned to their American owners that PL "soccer" in this country operates a system of relegation/promotion, so maybe not such a good idea after all?

Rotherham United Football Club’s old ground Millmoor finally being demolished.
Sad to see. Millmoor was one of the last few "old school", traditional League grounds which, unfortunately, I never got to see. But for a somewhat undistinguished club, that video indicates that the ground wasn't that bad, actually?
Ironic that one of the stands was sponsored by "C.F. BOOTH - BUYERS OF ALL GRADES OF SCRAP", doubly so since Booths themselves went bust earlier this year (though since bought out of administration).

New & Redeveloped Stadiums

At last, after half a dozen false starts for a new San Siro in the last 20-odd years (rebuild or move), there has now been what should be substantial progress, with Milan and Inter combining to buy the stadium and surrounding grounds, so as to demolish the old stadium and build a completely new one alongside.

This 8 minute video has some marvellous old pics of the original stadia on the site from 1925, while also reviewing the more recent failed rebuild projects - absolute manna for stadium geeks!

Though everyone says that while this is significant, the whole Italian planning and development process, which makes our own British equivalent seem positively super-charged, may still add years to the re-build, possibly even jeopardising the chances of it being ready for Italy and Turkey hosting the 2032 Euro's.

Notts Florist have now scrapped the plans to expand the City Ground to 35k, for which they got Planning Permission last summer.

And instead submitted new plans for a 52k capacity rebuild, which has just got PP.

Wouldn't ya just love it if they built it, then "did a Leicester"! :D

More here: Nottingham Forest stadium expansion approved - so what now?

Wonder what comes first...this or the Lionel road station

Probably just less than a whole seat gap and give the shape of the cone corner that's the optimal place for a seat break. Interesting

I initially focused on thr need to two access staircase bit to be honest may as well.as.no.one sitting would see anything on the left side.

It looks like it. I wonder if these will be sold as ‘restricted view’? An interesting take on ‘improvement’. Is it me, or do they look particularly steep? With our PM advocating beer in seats in future, I’d suggest the person in the bottom row should attend in oilskins, whatever the weather….

The South Stand, the one where the old terrace used to be to the left of the away section, is the next phase of the redevelopment. I assume that corner will make more sense when that happens, so it now indicates the future alignment with that new, two-tier, stand.
