It is, as was a similar announcemnt in The Standard on monday. It's all these different companies that connect to BFC that are confusing people.

I'll forgive the BBC a bit, although one of their people who writes stuff about Brentford is a Bees fan (and, I think, a GPG-er), but surely the local newspaper should be able to get this kind of thing right. It's not that difficult, especially if you bother to read the press release!

I think Barrats stated that the entire project, including flats, leisure facilities and the redevelopment of GP was projected at around £500m. It's difficult to guess how mucch the stadium will cost until we have some draft drawings.

While I'm sure LR/Griffin Park project is a profitable one for Barratt, do we have a plan B if Barrat are forced to shelve the project becuase of their current circumstances? Is there another developer that could step in and take over the rights to LR from them should they withdraw?

I must admit, I'm struggling to see a reason why someone would build houses in the current market. Also, the value if they do build will get significantly lower as time passes. Very worried about this now.

And it was known a good couple of years back that the property boom was not going to last. And also, if house prices are not the most fruitful at the moment, maybe it will make Brentford's more commercial scheme a more attractive option to developers.

Land prices aren't going up. Barratts have a huge land holding which they may have to write down and is partly to blame for their share price dropping 900%.

The current slump will also be affecting the value of GP as well which will have a knock on effect.

The Barratts situation is starting to get very worrying indeed. The latest market talk is that Barratts and its peers could be forced into highly damaging debt-for-equity swaps.

Broker Dresdner Kleinwort today withdrew its share price target for Barratts, saying that it "cannot gauge the dilution of a financial rescue package — nor indeed the chances of one being supported".

Whatever happens to Barratts itself, clearly the state of the housing market is not good news. While the stadium project is long-term and the housing market may well recover over that time frame, most of the house builders are heavily in debt and nervous about large development projects at the moment.
