NFL 08

That says a lot - you think the 2nd team in the 4 strongest divisions can beat the top team in the 4 weakest divisions on the road. (Miami are at home too.)

It seems a bit wrong that a 12-4 team has to travel to an 8-8 team. Also 11-5 Baltimore travel to 11-5 Miami, but Baltimore's 5 defeats all came to 12-4 or better teams while Miami haven't even played a 12-4 or better team.

That's why I'm not too upset about New England. They weren't the best team in quite a weak division, and they certainly didn't deserve to oust Indianapolis or Baltimore from the playoffs on the basis of an easier schedule.

Road wins are pretty common in the wild card stage. I agree the system sucks, in fact I find it galling that the 49ers won't ever be able to play the Cowboys in the superbowl due to this NFC/AFC thingy. Can they not just allow teams from NFC and AFC to play each other in the play-offs ?

NFL 08

:nono: Conference championships are the great games, and will be until they start playing the Superbowl places like Green Bay, Chicago or the Meadowlands, and get more real fans to the games.

You should just worry about the 49ers getting to play Dallas in any playoff game. :fishing:

NFL 08

As familiar as I am with supporting crap sports teams, I've switched over to the Jets-Dolphins as watching the Cowboys is excruciating.

Atlanta shall become my adopted team for the play-offs.

Funny I did exactly the same thing:(

NFL 08

Cowboys being humiliated, Marion Jones fumbled on the goal line, Eagles return the TD. Come on you Dolphins now !

Marion Jones is a disgraced athlete. I think you mean Marion Barber although I think Marion Jones on current form would have given Tony Romo more protection.

On the sacking front Mangini has gone, Shanahan and Lovie Smith must be on borrowed time, Dick Jauran will probably go,Philips will stay as Jones patsy and I wonder if Gruden will take stock and depart stage left

It was a late night last night.

Good news for the 49ers is Singletary, I think he can lead the 49ers to the playoffs next season.

Now you know why I support the Fish!

Got an e-mail from Dolphin HQ offering my the chance to purchase a ticket for the Ravens v Dolphins game next Sunday.

Prices wern't bad starting at $46. It was the £500 return airfare and the fact I'd be doing the same journey two weeks later that put me off!

And Jam Jar came in 59th overall.

Nice going Pixelator - I think we should email the sky sports guys and get that guy kicked out.

Lets see if you can win the Bees play-off NFL fantasy game to complete a double.

Final position of 1681st. Best ever finish. Anybody know how many were left playing at the end

Anybody know the composition of the week 17 winning team?

No. And no. That's why it's a bit crap.

But Scratchy came 3486th, and he only got points for half the season thanks to NFL-UK's website "upgrade".

Head over to the NFL playoff fantasy thread, it's much better. You'll know exactly how many people are in, and who's in their teams. And they're all Bees fans. :)

Sky Sports actually send a weekly email with details of the winning team, I think the top team got 192 points or something silly like that.

[Peter Griffin] I did not know that. [/Peter Griffin]

[Brian Griffin] What? Seriously? You mean they've never sent you a single email? [/Brian Griffin]

[Peter Griffin] No, they have not. [/Peter Griffin]

[Brian Griffin] Wow. That's crappier than when Stewie tried to change his own diaper. [/Brian Griffin]

Former LB Romanowski wants to become next Broncos head coach.
"...coaching experience includes helping with his son's football team." Who says Americans have no sense of "humor"? :)

So, this weekend it's:

NFC
New York Giants v Philadelphia
Carolina v Arizona

AFC
Tennessee v Baltimore
Pittsburgh v San Diego

In both conferences it's the 6th seed visiting the 1st seed who have the best chance of an upset. The week off has helped New York and Tennessee to get key players healthy, but Tennessee are without centre Kevin Mawae and I don't think Justin Tuck is 100% for the Giants.

The weather forecast for New York is sub-zero, snow on the ground, and windy. Should be fun. John Kasay missed a winning field goal there last month because of the swirling wind at one end.

Could Philidelphia be home to the World Series Champs and Superbowl Champs ???

Am I right in thinking that Boston was with the Red Sox and Pats a few years ago ??

Has any U.S city held NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL titles in one season ??

I'm going for the Cardinals, they have generally sucked for years and years and this year is the first time they have won 2 play-off games. Looking forward to the tough defensive battle between the Ravens and Pittsburgh. I'm backing the Ravens in this one.

Ravens for the Superbowl.

I am in the ballot on NFLUK for a couple of tickets

Cool, I am in that ballot too, went to the one at the Shephards Bush Empire theatre a few years ago when the Steelers beat the Seahawks. The only thing putting me off is travelling to the O2, living in West London its a bit of a drive and parking is probably expensive and there won;t be that many spaces.

Theres a big clue in my user name about where I would be coming from!!:)

They are running free coaches back into central London. You should be able to park (for free) somewhere close to the pick up / departure points overnight on a Sunday.

Or by the time the coaches return you to central London the first trains out of Waterloo to west London will be about to start running.

NFL 08

But who's going to be playing?

Arizona v Philadelphia, Philadelphia are around 1/2
Pittsburgh v Baltimore, Pittsburgh are around 2/5

Pittsburgh's odds look reasonable, especially as Baltimore's top rusher and top 3 receivers are all listed as questionable.

Not so sure about Philadelphia's odds though. Arizona wiped the floor with Carolina last week in all departments.

NFL 08

How good has this Eagles/Cards game been?

NFL 08

If only Philadelphia had started to play before the 3rd quarter.

Kicking myself, had family friends over so was not able to tune in until the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter.

Well done to the Cardinals - a fairytale story

I wonder who can stop Larry Fitzgerald.

NFL 08

A realy terrific game, though Philly should have got a foul on 4th down on Curtis

So, do we think Arizona can do it? It would be great to see an attack-oriented team win it.

Then again, having a head coach who looks like a TV doctor must count for something.

Mike Tomlin, left, and Dr Eric Foreman.

So where's everybody watching the Super Bowl then?

I'll be at Famous Three Kings in West Kensington

NBC are only charging $3 million for a thirty second advert during the game. Interesting discussion on 5 live last night about the parallels between NFL & the Premiership on it's marketing aboard. Fella for NFL said they want a London franchise in the NFL in the next ten to twelve years. With only eight or nine home games a year that could work & keep interest.

NFL 08

I will also be at home. Hopefully it will live up to the excitement of last year;s 4th quarter but I can see the Steelers walking it.

49ers and Cowboys fans will be rooting for the Cardinals as a Steelers win sees them go to 1st place in the list of most SB wins.

It will be a tall order as they did not meet a stellar defense during the play-offs. I am a believer though, BBB is eratic and did not play well in the last Superbowl, I expect he will throw a couple of INT's. Hoping Warners experience will see them through.

NFL 08

First time I've ever supported the NFC team in the Superbowl. (Though I suppose I would have supported Tampa Bay in 2003 if I wasn't living in my car in a field at the time.)

Coolbox on the floor, tapas next to the PC, only a power cut can spoil this one.

NFL 08

100 yard return from a fat bloke who needed oxygen after it.

 sounds like me :(

That was one heck on a run in fairness.

Oh gawd, we've got Bruce S now...

Expect to see some bick throws by Arizona as they chase the game...

NFL 08

This match shows why we shouldn't have TV replays. They review everything

ps is Rivers at the Super Bowl? I think not

NFL 08

Arizona were 15/1 to win 5 mins ago

Heartbreaker for Arizona, but you have to hand to Pittsburgh, immense under pressure, especially BBB, they deserve their Superbowl win given their tough schedule.

Another great superbowl, we've had some close ones in recent years
