It's uncertain if the season will take place as the owners have locked out the players. If they do play the Wembley game this year is Chicago v Tampa Bay.

Draft on Thursday! Pats in a good position to pick up some pass rushers and hoping that USC's Tyron Smith goes early in the first round. Potential sleepers in this draft include USC's Jordan Cameron (raw, but similar to Jimmy Graham at the Saints) and Jurrell Casey. Obviously I have seen USC players the most (season ticket, innit) but other players who could do some damage outside of the first round: Andy Dalton (TCU) and Greg McElroy (Alabama) and Brooks Ried of Arizona good be a good 'un.

Jordan Cameron or Cameron Jordan? :confused:

If they both make it to the NFL I will be forever confused. One's a TE taken by Cleveland in the 4th round, the other's a DE taken by New Orleans in the first. Hmmm.

I'm pretty happy with New England's draft, despite not taking the pass rusher everyone was predicting. As usual, they focused on the long term, going for value and accumulating future picks.

"Safe" picks at 17 and 33 overall - an OL and a CB who could start straight away.
QB Ryan Mallett at pick 74 should be good value. He's bigger than most linebackers.
OL Marcus Cannon in the 5th round could be even better value. Just the small matter of overcoming cancer before he can get down to playing.
The 2 RBs in the 2nd and 3rd rounds look a bit iffy, but in Belichick we trust. The 2 TEs he took last year worked out OK, after all.

Plus they acquired an extra 1st and 2nd round pick next year. I'll be supporting whoever plays the Saints and the Raiders on any given Sunday, so that those picks are as high as possible.

The next week or two are going to be mayhem in the NFL, with both veteran free agency plus teams having to sign undrafted free agents to fill their rosters. Looking forward to having another crack at the GPG fantasy league as well which is always good fun :sorted:

The craziest gossip doing the rounds right now is for Brett Favre to unretire again and become backup to Michael Vick in Philadelphia, can't see it myself as I don't think he'd willingly be a backup to anybody.

Can't wait for the fantasy league now :) I'm pretty sure I've already told you but last year I was using my dad's account on here called 'NineBelowZero' and now I'm using this. Last year's team for the fantasy was London Vikings, been in the league for the last two years :)

Looks like Washington is gunning for the number 1 draft pick next year (Andrew Luck?) - they have got rid of Donovan McNabb and unless they pull off a trade will have either Rex Grossman, John Beck or Kellen Clemens at QB next season.

Looks like the Patriots have traded for another malcontent/disruptive influence - Albert Haynesworth for a 5th round pick in 2013. I'd assume he'd be playing DE in their setup assuming he doesn't prove to be the waste of space he was for the Redskins.

Talking fantasy...don't suppose we get to retain any of our squad from last year? I'm pretty sure I had Fitzgerald in my team...looks as though his fantasy numbers will be very productive now that the Cards have Kolb.

I think we were looking at going keeper at the end of this season but we'll need to sort out how many players, cost of retention & any limits and also the draft order for this year first.

Auspicious league debut for Cam Newton - over 400 yards passing, 2 TD passes and a TD run. Carolina still lost though.

Tony Romo continues his game-throwing ways - a last-minute interception handing victory to the evil and pernicious Jets. :sad:

Thanks for the reminder. I think even I would have thrown one of the two picks away. Shocking coverage on the blocked punt though

Fun last few minutes on the West Coast. Three TDs in a little over a minute or so. Seattle score to get within two then Ted Ginn Jr runs the kick off back 103 yds then seconds later runs a punt return back 59 yards and in the process gains more all purpose yards than the rest of the SF offence put together.

Nice to see Eli and the Giants struggle though

That Ginn was certainley a tonic for 49ers fans, thought we were going to throw the game away when Seattle pulled to within two. Cowboys next for 49ers.

I have to admit that I have my doubts about Cam Newton but the list of names of rookie QBs starting in week 1 that he'd outperformed they rattled off on RedZone had some very talented names on the list (Manning, Tarkenton probably at the head of the list). I still have my doubts that a player who only started 14 games at the highest level in college is NFL ready so it will be interesting to see how he does when facing a defence coached by a wily old campaigner.

Seven weeks later, good to see New England and Buffalo back in their rightful places.

Time for those pointless predictions. RT predicted the Packers to win the SB last year.

Going for the Packers again seems too obvious, so I'll go for the 49ers to win the NFC. And I predict Matt Schaub to make a speedy recovery and lead Houston to the AFC Championship.

And, errr.... Houston to beat San Francisco in the Superbowl.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdown passes, Randall Cobb ran a punt back 80 yards for a score and the Green Bay Packers' defense showed it can take control of a game in a 45-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

The Packers ran their record to 9-0 and remain the NFL's lone unbeaten team.

A strong Vikings pass rush didn't force any uncharacteristic mistakes from Rodgers, who was 23 of 30 for 250 yards without an interception. Rodgers threw a pair of touchdown passes to Jordy Nelson, and also found Greg Jennings and John Kuhn for scores.

Adrian Peterson was held to 14 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown for the Vikings (2-7). Rookie quarterback Christian Ponder was 16 of 34 for 190 yards with an interception.

It's going to take a lot to stop the Pack again. SF have had a generous schedule and their games remaining means they will probably be 2nd seeds in the NFC but are they really good enough ?

The downside of that as far as I'm concerned is that the one team I can see beating the Pack are the Saints in a shoot-out but it means the Saints will have to go all the way on the road.

Texans for me in the AFC. With or without Schaub. Foster is a monster and Tate is no mug either and they've still got AJ to come back.

So, stupid prediction time. Foster MVP in the SB against a tired Saints

I'd love to tip the 49ers but I forcast them to meet the Saints in the divsional play-off round and sadly I think the Saints will win that but will come a cropper at Lambeau.

On the AFC less clear cut so I am going for the Raiders to win in New England.

And the Raiders to win the superbowl.

Can someone explain to me why anyone would take a "fair catch"? Surely you can gain 1 or 2 yards at least?

Presumably because it negates any risk of fumbling the kick in the face of pressure from the opposition. It's akin to "marking" in rugby isn't it ?

Re fumbling. You have to make a "fair catch" no? i.e. no fumbling.

I think you get to take the kick from the 20yard line. But I'm sure I saw someone today take a catch just inside the 30 yard line and took a "fair catch" with the opposition still 10 yards away.....

I don't think you have to catch a "fair catch", no and I think you can call a "fair catch" anywhere as long as you raise your arm above your head. I'm sure you can take something called a "fair catch kick" at goal from the spot where the fair catch was made too but I've never seen anyone do it.

However if you do muff the fair catch the ball becomes live. It is not unusual to see someone signal a fair catch and then get as far away from the ball as possible.

Even Teeeeeeeebow is being put in the background. 5 on the spin and Broncos.. no, surely not, maybe ? And before you think I'm getting excited about possibility of Broncos going all the way, I'm more thinking of the chance of them winning the AFC West. Mind you, Tebow @ the Pats. Could be a nice match up ;)

I'd say that only CHI & DET have a shot. However, CHI have problems at QB and Forte appears to be done for the year and DET may not have enough players to give them a game unless they sort the discipline out

Never ceases to amaze me how many Packers fans are at away matches given the distances required to travel in the USA!

Some great games last night.
Packers 46-16 Oakland was not really one of them but only the 8th team ever to go 13-0.
Last 2 games v Chicago (Xmas day) and Detroit (New Years day) will test that unbeaten record.
I then watched NZ beat OZ in the Hobart test by 8 runs. Great stuff!!!

I don't think that the majority travel I believe Green Bay are the Man Ure of NFL and they go to watch 'their team' when they are in town
