I couldn't believe my ears last night.

After the taffs opened up the flag, there was a large round of applause as well as a few chants of NOADES OUT!!!!!

Some old boy to the left of me shouted - SHUT UP, THERE WILL BE NO CLUB AT ALL IF NOADES LEAVES!

Some people are so blinkered it's unreal.

This club is going to die, unless we can persuade all fans to unite!

The sooner he goes the better.
For starters it is an absolute disgrace that so much censorship is occuring with the banners being forced down.
The way i see it they have no right to order the banners down.
They are not in any way offensive or looking to incite trouble.
They are simply the opinion of the MAJORITY.
I would be very interested to see the clubs response to this as so far, one again the silence is deafening.

It's like anything - if the media tells people the moon is made of green cheese enough times they'll eventually buy it. For people not getting the BU newsletter or buying the fanzines, the only source of information is the programme or the media. And the media is guiltiest of all, quoting Ron "£1m losses this year" Noades without any comment or analysis. The local papers have been unbelievably irresponsible.

I've tried this line of argument myself and got nowhere. I suggested that the local papers including The Chronny just printed whatever Noades/Hargraves fed them without analysis or reference to earlier statements by the same duo. It was explained to me that investigative reporting is not considered part of the reporting function of local newspapers (probably through budget restraints). My position was and is that a minority of Brentford fans know the truth about what Noades/Hargraves and the non-executive directors have done with this club but that a majority of supporters take their informatiom from local newspapers and the official programme.
Noades inexorable rants seem to be printed without analysis or demur.

I was called if I remember "unbelievably childish" by Streetboy who posts on here and works on and reports for The Chronny. I was so upset I threw one of my Dinky toys out of the window.

Expect to hear from Streetboy very soon but be wearing a crash helmet :D

While I agree that the Chronicle could give Bees United more of a reply, I think it a tad unfair that just because someone doesn't agree with you, it is assumed they don't know the full facts.

It's a shame that the local newspapers need Brentford as much as Brentford needs them.
I would pressume that the locals are absolutley scared stiff of saying something out of line and getting banned from GP etc.
I do sympathise, but at the end of the day they have a responsibility to report the truth.

I can't be arsed to look up all the examples, but tell me where they do any more than type Ron a press release in the below article. http://www.richmondandtwickenhamtim...99709&utag=2996

Let's separate two things: The ability to run a football club, and the ability to buy a football club.

I would argue that BU deserves the chance at the prior but don't have the latter, while Ron has proved an ability at the latter and an abject failure at the former. If Ron paid back his own debts and handed the team back as he found it, you could vote for a representational board to take the team forward yourself!

Bet BU could run the team without losing £1m a year this year.

Just say I had a discussion with one of these "old boys" who seem to back Noades in hefty numbers. He was adamant that Noades had spent loads of his money on keeping the club afloat over the last 5 years and that it was impossible to make BFC viable with only 5k support.
I pointed out that a) he hadn't spent a penny (and explained why), b) Almost certainly gained tax & interest wise out of BFC, c) Pointed out that the support was there to see when he took over, but Ron had decided that we would average crowds of 8K to 10K once we were top of div 3 and then promoted and so based his player/manager/coaches/Managing Director contracts and salaries on these estimated crowds. Hence why we lose so much money. I also pointed out that RN paid himself £168K a year as manager. All of which fell on deaf ears as he thinks Ron has been BFC saviour. Oh dear, how can BU and BIAS get through to these idiots, this guy has been attnding BFC for 50 years!!
D block ticket holders must be addressed and spoken to forthwith, cos this is where so many of these old boys are. Maybe a BU 'D' Block only meeting can be arranged, and if successful other parts of the ground could be targeted. We know the deatils of season ticket holders so maybe we could get them in for a pre match photo shoot (it has worked before) then address them all t the same time with some hard facts.

Noades Supporters

He can only up and go if BEES UNITED are supported by the fans, end of..

He can of course put the club in adminisatration, but the way the club is being run into the ground by the present board, I am beginning to think that a jolt to the apathetic fans, might get them to act and get our club back.

But the crux of the matter is Lionel Road, if we get Lionel Rd we will get rid of the Surrey brigade overnight.

Noades Supporters

This is not criticism, but those "in the know" have to understand that us not-in-said-know haven't heard a word about LR in so long that we're starting to get nervous about it. I've read that meetings/lobbying type things are on-going and to be patient, but it is easy to panic when it all goes so quiet about LR for so long.

True, I sat there for the Burnley game for the first time for years, great view, but I thought I was in a timewarp with some of the comments there.

To be fair its not about knocking supporters more about realising how much further the PR needs to go before the penny drops with a wider audience of supporters. I doubt many in D block read message boards etc......

Which is why BU should target D Block season ticket holders for a meeting. Loads of them get there early before a game, surely it could be possible to try and press some facts to them all.

It isn't about BU or BIAS getting through to anyone - the supporters taking over the club isn't being opposed to my mind. I'm trying to help financially whenever I can by contributing a monthly DD and to the bucket collectors.
I think what some of us are having difficulty with is the personal harrassment and abuse hurled in RN's direction which isn't doing him, BU, the Football Club or anyone else any good - it just divides the supporters.
I'm sure those within the club (players & staff) or representing BU in negotiations think everyone needs to work with the existing board, including RN and to coerce, convince and badger them into doing the things that will enable BU to take over. If I were RN and had to put up with such personal attacks I think I would up and walk out - if he does that right now I believe we would be in a much worse postion. For me the banners are a distraction to the real issues which are to put the club on a sound financial footing and secure its future. RN complying with the banners doesn't achieve either objective. Once the club is sorted and BU have taken over - then would be the time to reconsider the tenable postition of individuals board members.

Ron Noad£s

Bees United will, in my opinion, never gain control of the club from Ron.

The present Board (at least the controlling members) are doing their best to prevent BU from raising money by undermining them using Lifeline. They are also doing as much as possible to scupper Lionel Road with this Feltham business. They (RN) dispute or deny the Bees United business plans for BFC and have taken to the press to accuse them the "trying to hand the club over to a property developer". Personal abuse of Ron will get us nowhere but neither will the personal abuse dished out to committee members of Bees United, BIAS and Brentford fans in general by the board of BFC and Ron Noades in particular.

It's time for Ron to go, and take some of the others with him. If not let him put us into administration, it might just jolt some of the "D Blockers" out of the strange parellel world they live in!!

Please explain the personal abuse of Bees United. Also, if RN goes and takes some of the others with him what would happen to the Club? - Would it automatically go into administration? If so what happens to Bees United and any other possible plans for the club - they'd probably go out the window wouldn't they?
Wouldn't the administrators look to sell the main asset to clear the debts with no requirements upon them to save the club in any shape or form?

There is no strange parallel world just the real one and in that money talks - the administrators wouldn't give a monkey's for the history, community or supporter of BFC - just the bottom line £££.

Noades Supporters

Also Luton Bee, if on one hand you are saying BU are never going to take control, then what would be the point in scrapping Lifeline? If we were to scrap Lifeline now, and BU never took over the club, surely that is alot of lost revenue down the drain. Its not only BU that needs money at the moment, its Brentford Football Club as well. Mind you, if they are paying for laundries which may be knocked down at the end of the season, I can see why people may be anti Lifeline.

Never the less, you cannot seriously be suggesting Lifeline give up all their hard work raising subscriptions ion favour of raising money which might go towards running the club or might not.

I was merely making the point (which I have done before) that Noades/Hargraves statements and letters are printed without demur and there is no analysis or comment by the media. If Noades says it then it must be so seems to be the approach.
Statements are also made by Noades, Hargraves and Rogers in the official programme which frankly are sometimes contradictory to earlier statements but they are simply allowed to pass.
Let's say then that in the local media there does not seem to be the attention to Noades statements that you give to mine.

I absolutely dispare at some people on here, poor old RN getting some abuse for financially crippling our club.

Do you not think he deserves it?

He has made a lot of money from this club and so have his pals.

It was only down to the hardwork of BIAS, that we are at GP now.

The simple fact is that BFC may never recover from his four years. Do we peacefully protest or do we organise nothing and risk unsavoury scenes. Or do we let him leave with his reputation intact.

If this was Millwall he would be propping up a flyover.

With regards Lifeline, this is a undemocratic lottery group. If Lifeline donated £50k to BFC on the Friday and BFC went into administration on the monday all £50k would realistically be lost. It would be much better to work with BEES UNITED to mount a joint finance rescue plan.

With regards LR, BIAS, ABeeC & BU are currently trying to secure a deal. I cannot divulge more at present. But please come to the Info Point at the next game for a discreet chat.

I do have to say again though, that BIAS will work 24/7 to save our club, but we can`t keep up this level of meetings and activities long term. Tonight for example we have a meeting with the BFC board for a frank exchange of views.

Great posting Bish. I know what a delicate juggling act this must be for all involved - and I completely that these things require discretion.

I would just say that the reason the Felthams Arena thing has resonated this week was because no one (even those seeking 'news') has heard much about it in a long time. I'm sure a great many out there in Block D believe that LR is dead at this point (and by extension that BIAS/ABeeC/BU has confirmed RN's claim of not being up to it). Some sort of publicity otherwise, when it is possible, would re-energize everyone.

Keeping the faith,

BB

I find it very disheartening that so many fans wishing to put forward an alternative to Noades use words such as "stupid" and "idiots" to describe fellow fans. Particularly when they then deride Noades for referring to fans as "thick prats". If it wasn't so tragic it would be hilarious.

As a chairman, Noades has a responsibility to maintain professionalism. He regularly fails to achieve this, thanks to his miserable PR skills.

I couldn't agree with you more abee. You haven't upset me at all, I was just saying that there are people who read the messageboards and are in posession of the full public facts, but disagree with people continually slagging off Noades in such a personal way. In a business way mind you, attacking his management and general running of the club, both you and i know he can't defend that, hence the contradictory media statements to which you refer.

Maybe I can raise this example. Remember when Mark Chapman started the questions to Ron forum, and if I remember correctly he answered two sets of questions before throwing his dummy out of the pram and refusing to answer any more, I may be wrong, but the reason he stated was something along the lines of "Why should I answer all these questions when I am personaly abused." IMHO if the questions were kept to shall we say, a more formal nature, then the only reason he would have been able to stop would have been "I'm sorry I know i've run this club in to the ground, I know i've played championship manager but got bored because I couldn't win anymore, and therefore cannot be answering these questions as it reminds me of my failings." I guess what i'm trying to say in a roundabout way, is that the Ron slagging was counter productive in that instance and a great many others.

May I finish abee, by saying that I hope I haven't upset you, or given the impression i dont like you mate, I respect all bees fans with an idea or opinion on how the club should be run, i'm sorry this hasn't been reflected in any replies I have made to your posts.

We've got to win people round, not bemoan their idiocy.

Exactly! before anyone posts any abuse they should put themselves in the position of the people they are abusing. What would make them change their minds? Being called a ****er or some reasoned argument?

I agree entirely with the above. If noades had just continualy put out some positive messages when he had the chance he may indeed have seen crowd levels get near what he wanted.

BU is our only chance. No matter what your views you should join BU and argue your case from within. Rather like if you were a memer of the Labour party, you accept compromise as the price of power. Even if someone is the most fervent Noades lover they should be encouraged to join BU.

The problem is not that the people are fools but that, like ostriches, they have their heads in the sand and aren't willing to listen to how RN and his cronies change the "facts" as it suits them and bad mouth anybody that points out flaws in their statements (Bee H, abee, Baz Bee etc take a bow). Maybe what is needed is somebody to go through all the programmes, press reports and meetings and document what Noades and co said then. A graph showing the debts/budgeted losses week by week fluctuating wildly would do more to discredit Noades than the eloquent arguments of his more fervent critics. If he can be shown to change the numbers from week to week it would show he's either a liar or incompetent and would hopefully get more support for the one group of people with a business plan for running the club - Bees United.

You've missed the point - what is the point of demonstrating that RN should go now when it doesn't help our situation at this very moment. By all means organise activities that will help and improve the clubs chances of survival but calling for RN's head today isn't the answer and shouldn't be the focus of attention right now. Save that for another day when the club's future has been (hopefully) ensured, if indeed that is still what people want then. I still beleive that if he complies with the request to go now we would be worse off - I too dispare that some people would want us to be in a worse position than we already are. If however, we would be in a better position if he was to go now I'll be pleased to hear that arguement.

Noades himself said that he was going last summer as he was presumably exhausted from counting his money (or not) and felt that to stay in football any longer would be seriously damaging to his health.

Noades wish to leave in the summer of 2002 was also confirmed by Hargraves in January 2002. They were telling us this and as far as I know there were no demonstrations asking him to stay but maybe I missed them whilst blinking!!!

If Noades does go it changes not one cotton pickin' little thing. He will cede the voting power of his Altonwood shares to Eddie 'Rambo' Rogers who will become chairman and life (or death for BFC) will go on exactly as before.

However if you believe that having Noades as the chairman and figurehead of Brentford Football Club with his abrasive personality enhances our chances of successful negotiations with LBH or whoever then I am sure that "NOADES IN" banners in the New Road would be viewed with incredulity by Wayne King before he orders that they be confiscated ( and probably re-hung by the Chairmans swimming pool).

To sum up it doesn't matter a toss now what Noades does personally. The end game is being played out but the BFC board of directors at least can relax secure in the knowledge that any future forensic accounting of the BFC and GPS accounts will surely show that the company was run professionally and in accordance with the highest business practices.

I haven't suggested that I want RN as chairman - I am more concerned that the 'RN Out' tactic might actually be counter-productive to the cause. As a freelance working for the Chronicle I have always said it is something of a labour of love for me.
So to see people having a go at the Chronicle's coverage is disappointing, and upsetting.
Speaking totally perrsonally I would also go as far as to say that I feel the criticism is, in some cases, justified.
A couple of years ago I repeatedly questioned Noades's actions and was pilloried for it.
Most galling was the fact that he would try to insist his interpretation of events and facts was correct and everyone else's was wrong.
The whole thing reached a head when he instructed lawyers and himself sent letters to the Chronicle:
a. Threatening legal action against the paper and myself
b. Trying to encourage the then editor to sack me (nice bloke).
At about the same time he also threatened my wife and family which I am sure most right minded people on this board will agree is reprehensible.
I was furious and reported the matter to Gary Hargraves who reassurred me - as a result I managed to convince my wife not go to the police.
Gary dealt with it like a sensible human being which I am sure he is despite being tarnished by working with someone he probably doesn't like.
That maybe gives people some idea of why I decided to take less of a risky stance regarding the probing of Noades.
It also hacked me off mightily that all the time I was putting my head on the block and Noades was trying to shoot it off, a lot of supporters actually believed him.
The infamous balcony speech was a case in point where he convinced all but a handful of fans that yes, he could be trusted.
Perhaps history has or will put a different slant on that and I can feel vindicated.
I am also constantly putting pressure on the Chronicle staff lads - and John Lyons is an excellent operator - to keep the pressure up.
I suspect though that the threat of a litigious and bullying Mr Noades may, to some extent, have blunted the media offensive against him.
That is the way he has always operated...one only has to watch the way the sycophantic national press creep round him to see that.
Even they fight shy of a ruck with Noades - just check out the number of "isn't Ron great' stories that appear in their pages...manufactured by?
I think people should be thankful that they have a local paper that at least had the guts to stand up to him in the first instance....many wouldn't have.
Sad but it's a fact of life that papers have to be careful when dealing with people who never think they are wrong.
