I have been sat on the fence all season, but I feel the time has come to change, the midfield is always exposed by better passing teams, and we are not quick enough up front to create enough chances to win games, we consistently give the opposition a goal (or 2) start before we start to do anything, I think AS has run out of ideas and cannot adapt his tactics,
leaving it easy for the opposition to read our game.
I cannot see us doing anything at Exeter and if the league results dont improve we will be looking down pretty soon.

Oldham Match Reports

just back from a day out with the family to brighton and happy that i didnt waste another pile of dosh on the rubbish that sounds like our performance today :(.........SCOTT OUT and hurry up before you take us back into league 2.........PLEASE GO NOW for all our sakes

time is running out for us and those deluded one's who think we aint in a relagation battle...........another 2 defeats on the spin and we'll be bottom 4.........ive got a really bad feeling about this season now :(

Oldham Match Reports

Saw two teams that played exactly the same tactics, the difference was in confidence. How often did they pass the ball straight into touch, many more times than we did.
They had a big bruiser up front who was quick and scored an Elder like goal.
When Charlie came on he was causing problems that neither Alexander nor Forster were. Can't criticise AS for dropping Charlie, that's what loads on here wanted. It did make a difference and then when Simpson came on we really pushed on.
Both Charlie and Simpson played freely, most of the others to me seemed nervous about doing the wrong thing.
I'm still behind AS because of all the things he's done for us.
What I will stay, no doubt it's been said before, why is he lucky with his loan signing but castigated for his permanent ones? Does he not choose ALL his signings?

Oldham Match Reports

Feel for you mate all that way did you sell any books?

Not many, but who will buy one after or during that sh*t? Peeps quite rightly want nothing to with Brentford, how can they spend more money with this going on.

Seriously folks, it's time, he's a nightmare, the team is on it's knees.

Actually most of his loan signings have been sh*t too. Apart from the magical Rhodes, Clarke and Chesney. Looking back I'm surprised he didn't play Bostock in goal, the bloke has lost the plot and the dressing room. Please go now Scott.

Cheers for taking the time to post. What were your thoughts of the bees???
Up until the last 10 minutes - probably the poorest side I've seen this season. Very one dimensional and no obvious player who could make a difference. I didn't sense any improvement since we played you earlier in the season, although the league table suggests there has been.

I have no idea what happened to change the game late on, and while we were biting our nails a little you didn't create any obvious chances after pulling one back.

Says it all really. Sad thing is I'd normally be angry about another teams fan coming on here, saying how poor we are - but all I can do is agree.

Bournemouth bee hits the nail firmly on the head. There are some players at the club that know whatever they do they wont get a run in the team and others who seem guaranteed a starting place. I would like Andy Scott to explain why, having signed what everyone considers to be a midfielder, it then makes sense to him to play him at centreback. How many fans today expected to see him line up there? Bean, Oconnor and Dave have proved not good enough and Saunders who came in and was excellent at Plymouth cant get a look in.We were told he was very close to returning three or four weeks ago. I totally and utterly agree that a different manager could get so much more out of this group of players. I am generally happy with the squad of players we have but its a basic requirement to play them in their natural positions. Its not rocket science. Our midfield or the lack of one neither protects the defence or supplies the forwards and its surely down to the manager to ensure that we start the game at the right tempo? I seriously wonder if they question what on earth he is up to because the supporters are doing exactly that. Scott has been very good for us but this season is going down the plughole fast and can anyone hand on heart see where an improvement is coming from, from a manager who hasnt a clue about his best starting eleven. The fact that he was allowed to sign two players for virtually every position has worked against him because he cant see the wood for the trees and he certainly hasnt a clue regarding selecting players in their best positions. Not a scooby. We are sinking and he has lost the plot. Thanks for some wonderful memories Andy but the crowds are dwindling and i feel the best option is a parting of the ways.

Feck me that was crap, the worst yet, has he gone yet?

I keep refreshing hoping something has happened, but we all know nothing will happen until its to late, its Brentford isn't it. Still hoping he's gone by the end of the weekend.

Just cooked myself a right juicy steak, rare with mushrooms, onions, poached egg and chips.
Gone down a treat, not picking on you fella but you saw that today, I don't know how many you do see but to watch that and still think the manager deserves longer baffles me. Hypa and Plymouth don't get to games so you read their stuff with a pinch of salt but you watched it, you really see something in that or the previous games that suggest we are moving forward?
I think now that you are backing him to save face for all the bile you spouted against me and anyone else that dared to challenege him TBH, we can be wrong in this football supporting stuff but I was always confident I could see the bigger picture, it was/is nasty viewing.

The plan (Scott's tactic) is rubbish, Scott is rubbish and half of that squad are too.

Nice report opinion5U from the Oldham point of view but if your coming on here just to blog about your team, remember there are two sides out there so some reference to how we played and a bit of name dropping of some of our players will not go amiss.Otherwise it's all rather boring, which it was.BYE.

He's my match report (before this thread degenerates into another Scott session):

First half both sides were awful; it was painful to watch. We were sooo slooow, with Nicky Forster our quickest player, and our inability to pass to a Brentford player was matched by Oldham's inability; their Taylor looked the only footballer on the field. The real difference was that our attack just kept getting caught off-side but our defence fell for the simplest trick - all of us in the stand (those home supporters in the Care In The Community section next to us as well) could see it but our two central defenders didn't... 1-0. It was warm by normal Oldham standards, though, not much wind and temperature above zero.

Second half the anonymous Dave was replaced by Charlie and we went 4-3-3. Weston got in his regulation single cross and we had a decent opportunity. Our game was typified by the continuation of our inability to pass and ability to give the ball away... again it was obvious from the stands but we were chasing shadows, Laird particularly guilty... 2-0. Alexander was subbed by Simpson and, at last, we picked up some speed. If Simpson made us quicker, imagine how slow we were before! Some late pressure and Simpson scored a nice goal but we were unable to sustain it; 2-1 in the end and another mournful journey home.

Legge was hardly MoM; he is a one-man heading and hoofing machine but ball at his feet and he looks like a two-year-old. The defensive header he missed completely under no pressure was comical, only because nothing came of it, but he should have noticed their player run past for their first goal.

There is very little to say about players, collectively they were shocking, we can say "Poor. poor and poor" all night, we had our first shot on target after 80 minutes again, the best we could have hoped for in the 1st half was a 0-0 and I was praying for HT so that we could come out a different side ala Exeter last Friday......
It got worse and Oldham opened us up a few times, they were poor and we made it easy for them, no hard luck at any point, no decision changing incident occured. We scored which came out of the blue but was a good finish, we then had 3 or 4 minutes when they sat deep and we might have had a lucky bounce, then the game returned to type and we didn't really get out of our half.:(

Respect to those who went today. Oldham is a cold place at the best of times and by the sounds of it, Simpson's goal aside, Brentford provided very little in the way of warmth. We've had a miserable January and from being 2 points and a game in hand off a play-off place, we're rapidly losing touch and I for one am beginning to look at the bottom half of the table, wondering where our next win is going to come from. Our lofty position in the league was mis-leading as I think at best we are lower mid-table team. Now we are struggling and I go to games or listen to them wondering where on earth our next goal is going to come from.

We are shot-shy and devoid of any real threat on the pitch. I read the 'net daily in the hope we've signed a decent forward but am always disappointed. As for the lastest player movements, Scott lets McCracken go, signs a midfielder and then plays him at CB with Pim on the bench which is beyond comprehension. Can anyone explain this?

I will support the team when at games, but the board must look closely at the two huge dips in form over this season. They should ignore the cup runs which mostly suceeded because of Richard Lee's penalty-saving prowess. Phil Parkinson is available and I'd happily see him in charge next week.

Time for change of manager please.

Sorry bit can you quote any of this bile that I've directed against you or anybody? I've questioned the loyalty of those who want us to lose to get AS sacked but other than that I've always expressed my opinion on the performances.
You don't know me or my reasons for backing AS but to accuse me of spouting bile seems to me rather excessive when all I do is disagree with what you think you.
We're told that the GPG is about opinions and I've given mine, my humblest of apologies for daring to to differ.
I await the said quotes with eager anticipation.

Oldham Match Reports

I'm not going to attempt a match report, I think you will be getting the gist of things by now. I just have to take my hat off to you guys who go and watch this rubbish week in week out. It was appalling, and to make it worse, Oldham weren't much better, and with a half decent display we would have got something. Team selection beggars belief (if we needed another CB why was McCracken let go out on loan?). I fear we are heading for a relegation battle, though I believe we have enough players to keep us up if they had a manager who had any idea how to get the best out of them. Positive note, the goal was well taken (sorry you missed it Northern_Bee).

Oldham Match Reports

Questioning my support is bile my friend, you can question lots of things but don't question people's support, I have never questioned yours and never will. You can disagree all day, feel free.

Oldham Match Reports

This was only my 5th game of the season and we have lost all of them, seriously we were appalling, the 199 Bees supporters who were present today deserve an apology from BFC for having to watch a performance that was totally inept, the only shot on target was when we scored after 82mins. Has the manager lost the plot by playing OTJ at Centre Half, he needs to give us an explaination behind his team selection today. We are suppossed to have one of the strongest squads for years, how we can only manage 6 subs??. AS says he wants to improve the squad by bringing in better players, is Laird any better than we already have I think not.

I'm glad you came on here and said this. It saves me a hell of a lot of words.

At half-time I was disgusted by our performance. By the end I was angry, disenchanted, frustrated, etc

The heart has been ripped out of our players. Watch them on the pitch and I challenge anyone to disagree. Gary Alexander has got his limitations but he's always shown guts and urgency. Just look at him today.

I've been circumspect all season trying to keep it together even after MK and Aldershot and then when it fell apart again at Yeovil but enough is enough. It hurts me to say this but I'm joining those who are voting with their feet. I'm committed but I can't keep doing this week in, week out watching that.

The club have got my season ticket revenue and Messrs Dagenham, Exeter, etc will have to do without the cash. Until something changes, that's it for me.

How you can sign a centre-midfielder and play him at centre-back to continue the merry go round madness of playing people out of position, words just fail me! Simple common sense has evaporated and been replaced by sheer madness.

Actually don't bother I've had enough of this place. We're all supposed to supporters of Brentford but some are treated appallingly, I don't include myself in this.
We talk of the arrogance of AS, I don't know him, and yet I've been treated the same way at the ground by the one accusing me of bile. I was introduced to him, by name, at a match last season I put out mjy hand to shake and got a grunt and no other response.
Didn't stop me buying the book but my impression of the person was soured by the experience.
I know nobody cares but I'll not be back.

The usual rubbish from him saying the players performance is not good enough etc, well it is your job to get the performance from the players so is the problem the players are not good enough (all of whom have been signed to the club by you) or are you not able to get the players to perform at the level required by providing a suitable match plan and motivating the players to perform.

Oldham Match Reports

Just home and had plenty of time to think that game through! I haven’t read any comments just want to put my thoughts first.

Where do I start?

Team selection:
Pleased to see Tudor-Jones play but at Central Defence??? What signal does that give to Pim, Spillane and Bush??? Bean dropped for Dave which I was pleased about but Dave wasn’t much cope. Wright for Spillane understand if Spillane is injured but why have him on the bench then? Forester and Alexander up front pleased as it gave Forster a chance to shine.

Midfield or more importantly right wing – we have a new name to add to the position none other than Kevin O’Connor!!! Amazed yet again by this! Although AS did change Weston, Laird and the
invisible player there throughout the game. Nothing worked!

Goals:

First goal thought maybe offside need to see again tonight. But taken well and Lee had no chance. Striker should always score from that position.

Second was poor defending from Legge. Possible handball (happened far end of pitch) pass out to wing and only Wright there who like at Yeovil jockeyed but no tackle. Shot placed in bottom corner could be argued keeper shouldn’t be beaten from that side.

Our goal good build up after some pressure and nice take down from Simpson and shot into bottom far corner. Sadly only Simpson was the only player celebrating!!!

First half:

Out of the traps like a sloth!! Slow yet again. Poor passes from most players and not one shot on target al half. Defence was slow, midfield even slower, forwards nothing to do but run around hoping to get the ball.

Second half:

Macdonald on for Dave who had a poor game even worse than Bean on Monday. Weston came alive a tadge. Everyone else woke up but nothing really until the second goal and the introduction of Simpson. Had our first and ONLY shot on target and scored. Nothing much else to talk about. Better second half but still sh*te football.

My team comments:

Lee – Made a couple of saves but apart from goals Oldham didn’t really test him. Kicking improved. No blame for goals IMO.

Wright – Ok sort of game. Feel he should have put a tackle in instead of jockeying the player. Nothing much to write about prefer Spillane there,

Legge – Made a good last ditch tackle and won headers. Passing is hit as high and far as you can. Possible to blame for both goals due to lack of speed and not being close enough for second.

Tudor-Jones – Considering it was his first game for us AND in a completely different position than expected player well. Good passes and won a fair few tackles and also think he had a hand in our goal. My MOM.

Woodman – Ok game nothing spectacular but didn’t do anything wrong. He will get booked for time wasting as players don’t move for him!!

Dave – Poor poor game. Replaced at half time. Enough said.

Laird – Tried to pass. Tried to tackle. For me too lightweight and not for us in current form. Maybe confidence issues.

O’Connor – Well we have played him everywhere else why not the wing? Err no not again thank you. Did what Kev does, gets ball and plays safe not what you want for a winger!

Weston – Again first half invisible man. Second half came into it more but nothing great and no service to the forwards.

Alexander – Runs alot. Gets no service and has to go looking for it. Replaced by Simpson

Forster – Had a chance but like Alexander runs alot but gets no service. Penalty claim IMO was a dive so not a penalty for me.

Subs:

McDonald – Ran his lickle sockies off like normal. But again no help wingers/midfield for him to run on to or do anything with.

Simpson – Great goal. Looked like he was up for it when he came on but we were 2-0 down at this point!!!!!

Andy Scott

I have been too many games this season home and away and feel Scott has lost the plot now. I think his luck has run out and we need to do something about it. Players looked uninterested. Positions of players amazes me. Subs poor at changing. Please Andy go and be remembered for getting us out of League 2 and not for taking us back down there.

Other little points:

Kev, Tudor-Jones, Simpson and Scott were the only ones I saw clap to the fans! Very poor show IMO. (apologises if others clapped but I tried to look carefully to see who would).

Bean sitting alone on the team coach. Upstairs on the double decker all alone. Rest of the squad in the ground and milling about. Strange to see him there and not with the team.

Oldham weren’t great but they warmed up together, got into a huddle before the game and warmed up in a big circle 2nd half. They looked like a team we didn’t.

Oldham Match Reports

Just got back after dull drive back!
I had high hopes today with Jones coming in but when I looked at the 11 warming up I was suprised.
I guessed Wright would slot in at CB and Kevin at RB!
To see Jones at the back, with Wright at right back and Kevin on RM I was even more shocked.
Shortly Weston and Kevin swapped sides which did sod all.
Today lacked, passion, fight to win, passing, skill, everything.
Just looked like we turn up each week and thats enough.
It is painful to watch and towards the end of the first half I was bloody bored.
We got caught out down the middle for the first goal, Leon totally outpaced.
I couldnt quite see but think Wright was caught in possession leading to their second.
They werent that great, but they wanted the ball, played and moved about, most teams are doing this to us.
We were doing this with Saunders in the team, Saints, Col Utd, Plymouth.
Really peeved off but oh well, I kinda expect it now.
I honestly reckon under Scott we will always, win one, draw one, lose one, simple really, plus i think the stats prove this. We have gone from 5away wins to 4away loses.
Simpson scored a brilliant goal and should / needs to be starting!
Spillane also.
Roll on Yeovil. . . .

Oldham Match Reports

Surely Pim was only fit enough for the bench and he was forced to play OTJ there.
I presume that KOC went on the right to shackle that **** Taylor, fair idea but it backfired bigtime.

Both guesses by the way.

And that is it. When you're a team you come together and achieve things together. At present, we're as far away from this as I dare to remember.

Oldham Match Reports

Same post match speak from our manager and the same on the pitch dross from his players playing to his tactics.

Basically we change the team every week, probably due to the fact that he's had 8mths with this squad and doesn't know what his best line up is. Laird and OTJ, both central midfielders, are loaned in and both played out of position immediately? Pim dropped? Spillane dropped for Wright. I think you're having a laugh at our expense Andy. Hunt and McCracken loaned out and not replaced? A couple of injuries and our squad is thread bare?

Scott survived last year on get out of jail loan signings, doesn't appear that he'll be that lucky this time around. I hope his days are numbered. Or maybe the board are happy to put next years financials together based on crowds of 3500. Time to stop floating around the place in your flash suit and pointy shoes Andrew Mills, time to do what you're paid for.

Scott has obviously lost the dressing room with is rubbish tactics, constant changes and regular individual public slatings. He's also lost the fans. And unfortunately Andy, while your ego is massive, BFC is about the fans and not you.

I hope you're gone by the weekend Andy. Any out of work manager could do at least as well as you are doing and we deserve better. You can only live off of a L2 championship for so long - you've taken us backwards in the last 12mths.

Oldham Match Reports

Right, I'm suitably depressed for bed. Goodnight.

Oldham Match Reports

I've done my fair share of long distance away games, where there's just a few of you there. Fantastic when you grab a win, and it feels like you, the team and the manager have just won against the world.

In the bad times, its either a miserable quiet trudge back to the car, train, coach, etc. or screaming dogs abuse at anyone you can.

How was it today? Any response from anyone? Any acknowledgement of support?

We often set up not to lose - doesn't often work. I'd prefer us to trust our players to win sometimes - only really happens in second halves when the shackles come off.

Absolutely. I'd also prefer to see us play the players in their rightful positions and to assemble a balanced squad that allows us adequate cover in as many positions as possible and not the too many for some, not enough for others we've ended up with this season.

I wish we could all go to support the Arse, yet we are lumbered with our club. Love Brentford, had enough of sh*t Scott.

Oldham Match Reports

Have to say that was complete sh*te today, when are we going to learn to pass the ball to a teammate?

Thought we were poor throughout, yes we've had good performances in cup games but the priority is the league and after this latest effort we will be in for a relegation battle, forget play offs, forget JPT AS needs to get head sorted and play players in their right position, play football not hoof ball and play a formation that gets us results.

Legges last ditch tackle to save a goal has been praised but it was his poor header that lead to the chance, didn't think Leon would come out for the second half.

Oumare Tounkara was superb for Oldham today, a right handful for our back four and lead the line excellently, just the sort of player we could do with.

199 Bees fans made the trip, well done to those that went but we should expect the team to turn up and put some effort in.
