We have the best people to navigate through this (on paper) tricky spell - also having players linked to bigger clubs is a sign that what we are doing is working. If we had players that nobody was interested in I'd be far more worried to be honest.

We're arguably 3-4 years behind Brighton in our PL evolution. Their selling Caicedo & Co. to Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool was a huge step in their evolution. Us now doing the same (and Thomas moving) to Arsenal, Man U and Spurs is a big positive statement, painful as it is in the short term.

I’m excited for the new season. It’ll be like summer 2019. Some core regulars out. Top scorer out. New players we mainly know little about. New play style from a Head Coach who’s seen what we had, what we’re getting and understands where we’re aiming. After 4 years of midtable when we’d punched above our weight but everyone thought “ah, yes, Brentford, amazingly well run club, play some great football but overperforming at their ceiling as they again are selling their stars”.

Can understand the concern at present but in reality we all knew that at some point Thomas would leave and the departure of Brian was just dependant upon the money offered, Christian is the one out of the blue but even here it’s a chunk of money for a player who would be unlikely to start every game for us.

We now have the chance for a new start, new coaches, fresh ideas, players fully fit and probably some new faces to come in, this is the start of Brentford 2.0, the old guard are gradually fading away and the young blood can take us to the next level.

Exciting times and instead of concerns we should all embrace the future, the opportunities for players to develop and the fresh ideas from a new management team

Despite the fact that we have lost within 4 or 5 weeks our Head Coach, a few other coaches, our Captain, our first choice keeper, and soon our main striker, I reckon we have survived tougher times in the past, and always come out of the gloom looking for and getting success again.

The fact is that all those people have done their time here, contributed to our success, but the football truth is that it’s only us, the long-term fans who are the never changing consistent factor within this club.

Everyone else is passing through, but we are like Hotel California - we’ve checked in, and can never leave!

Sometimes people on here or elsewhere (BBC comments page!) seem to act as if when we lose a decent player, we'll lose 100% of the equivalent output.

It's massively over the top and a little silly tbh. Another player, likely already here, will be stepping in. Even if they don't match or exceed the outgoing player's output, it obviously won't be a drop off to zero, impossible.

It may be a(nother) transitional season, but those fretting about the bottom 3 should chill ?

You're assuming Wissa and Schade don't leave, Jensen is match fit and we have no other problems. Sorry forgot it's the positive thread!

After seeing and listening to the recent interviews with Keith and Phil G we can now probably base our opinions about the new HC with confidence.

Personally, I think the club is doing the correct thing at the correct time. Meaning, we have chosen to continue our progress in the PL by (to use Thomas’ words) adding layers with very little disruption.

Comparatively, had this change of HC occurred after we had been in the PL for a decade or more then, from a stronger financial position, we might have gone down the avenue of recruiting someone from outside the club who would have brought in a very different coaching team and with it a calculated risk that could be accommodated more easily by the owner and his staff. Fundamentally, of course, we aim to recruit the best people for the job.

But that is a possibility in the future, if it is to happen. For now, we can enjoy the present.
