There used to be a thread where one could take refuge from the depressing rants when we were struggling in Div 3 but I could not find it so have created this one.
I am so tired of the negativity currently circulating so lets have a look at the facts
- This time last season we had signed Jota, Moses , Grey , Pritch, Hogan, Toral and Tebar. Generally we had no idea who most of them were or that they would cope at Championship level. We had a manager with no experience at this level. We had a wonderful season despite having only one forward

- This year we have signed players from Europe again of whom we know little but come with excellent credentials and so far we have kep most of last seasons excellent squad. We have a new coaching set up hand picked from Europe
- Some players will leave some will come in
- For the first time in a very very long time we start a second consecutive season in the second tier , not as a whipping boy but as a respected (and feared) team
- Our prospects for the season seem very positive
- We have money , we are stable, we have an owner with a plan that will take more than 1 year to deliver but the foundations are being laid for future sustainable success.
- When I say Brentford people know who the f... I am talking about!

I may be a 100% RTB member but the above looks good to me so when I wake on Saturday morning I will be as excited as a kid on Christmas morning looking forward not to moaning and worrying about who is leaving but anticipating roaring the boys on. First game of the season, we and the team bond together to begin a journey of highs and lows spanning 40 odd games our moods inextricably linked and our fortunes bound together. I loved it when were **** how much better is it now we are actually pretty good.
Stand proud , chin up, voices raised 'lets be having you!!!'

A minor correction: this time last season we had not signed Jota! There's more to come, I think.

Keep the positive!

I'm only a 20% RTB member and following the Bees over 45 years has turned me in to a right old cynic but I 100% agree with your sentiments. The club's on the up and for the first time since the 1930s is being managed properly (in fact excellently). You would have to be a 100% Victor Meldrew to find anything to moan or carp about!

Well done, good post!

People should just say what they think. Otherwise, what's the point? Obviously no personal abuse or offensive language - but positive or negative thoughts should be equally welcome. This isn't North Korea!

The title of the thread says it all I am not policing the GPG just offering a happy place to take refuge. This response kind of sums up what I feel the GPG is in danger of becoming, I could not even offer a light hearted rallying call without being lectured.

I fully agree. What I don't like of late is that posters cannot even be civil. There are many views I bitterly disagree with on here but why be unpleasant? I always remember a bloke who did some training at my workplace at the time who was dismissively referred to as 'Luther Vandross' for his cool, smooth delivery. I always remember him saying when you are rude, abusive, dismissive (pointing) one finger is in their direction but look where most are pointing. At the time I thought what a load of rubbish. As I have got a bit older and wiser I realise how wrong I was. I always wonder the reasons why the most abusive are being the most abusive. I doubt it is from a position of happiness / strength.

Good posts here. I just hope that if we have a wobbly start we don't get hysteria. IMO we had probably more breaks for than against us last season and I don't expect a top 6 finish. There were a lot of games away where the oppo fluffed their chances bigtime and we nicked three points. There's a lot of building to do but I am impressed with what we have brought in and not fussed at those who have gone although Gray [ if he goes ] would create an issue for us but short term we have brought in two good strikers. Trouble is last season has raised expectations for some. I don't know the management's timescales but I suspect they are realistic and MB will have calculated the odds.

ITK informs me that we've triggered the release clause in Messi's contract! ;-)

Although I agree with you, people are allowed to start a thread asking only to read positive responses too. I like offensive language and personal stuff though, at least it shows we are all still alive....

Looking forward to the weekend, hoping that we've assembled a side that will challenge.

IIRC the stats said that we had a lot of good luck early in the season and this balanced out with poorer luck later in the season so that overall we finished exactly where we ought to have done. If the systems we have in place help us to even out the effects of luck and circumstance that's a great achievement.

I'm so positive that this article http://www.london24.com/sport/footb...and_leeds_united_could_come_unstuck_1_4178877 sounds nonsensical.

IMO the best system improvement will be cutting out defensive cockups [ Bjelland will do that ] and actually looking like we might score from a set piece.

This board already offers plenty of scope for negative thoughts. What banbury bee has done is create one thread where the focus is solely upon positive thoughts. Seems fair enough to me. Those who wish to express negative thoughts can use a different thread or create one of their own.

Excellent post geez,.....but we must also remember it is a forum and opinion counts,I read a lot of OTT negative also a lot of OTT positive.sometimes I myself delve into writing both....but....at the end of the day and the setting sun we are all Brentford FC.....COYR!

COYB! Me and my dad and complete opposites on the positive and negative scale when it comes to Bees. Those friends we have made on the terrace know they are going to get a negative ear bashing when my dad turns up lol rather amusing for us all.
We could be 4-0 up in the champions league final and he would still moan "why arent we 5-0 up"

I look forward to a fun filled season, its positive knowing im not going Stockport away but have QPR instead to look forward to.

I have a feeling we are in for a tough season, but I thought that last season. I feel we need to establish ourselves. a lot on here will disagree with me. I loved what I saw last season, and if I see the same next season that will do me.

You forgot the biggest plus this season. A PA system on the Ealing Road that works. No more proclamations of 'who is that white haired gentleman waving at us?'

Brentford are in the championship for only the third season in my lifetime and are selling players for sums of money I never thought they would! Good time to be a bee. Let's keep some perspective.

You're never going to believe us, but we're gonna win the league! (after a slightly dodgy start, and we get better and better throughout the season)

I've done the maths and if we win our remaining games in hand, we'll probably win the league.

This time not so many years ago we kicked off in the basement vs Mansfield with a team containing Mackie, Thorpe and unrated, unwanted loanees and were relieved at getting a 1-1 draw.
Chaps, life ain't too shabby under Matthew regardless of who thinks they will do better elsewhere.

Racing Post comments

'overall it looks a stronger group of players, putting Brentford in a position to make a major challenge in a division which looks a lot weaker than it was.'
and 'losing Alex Pritchard is a blow but the Bees look equipped to make another bold bid for promotion'

Predicts BFC to finish second behind Middlesboro'. (QPR 8th; Fulham 12th; Hull 13th; Leeds 19th)

Hope they are correct!
