Who said we were going to struggle for goals when we lost Thiago, Toney and Wissa?

My sister living in England bought me a Brentford home shirt for my 70th Birthday. Not many Brentford fans here in Winnipeg. Well there is me !! I'll wear it on 7th Oct, weather permitting of course, as it's starting to cool down now.
We do have a Brentford Park, and a road called Brentford. That's about it though.

Think we can all agree how great it was picking up 3 points at the death!

In a game with a 1st half TF described as our worst he’s seen, despite the win, it’s to be expected post analysis will cover our attacking prowess and current defensive frailties.

Last season when we finished 16th I left the forum for a bit because either you were labelled a member of the ‘doom and gloom gang’ or the ‘I’ll have some of what he’s smoking’ society. It was no fun, toxic even

Yesterday there were glimpses of that already, a combo of rightfully singing our praises but also rightfully comments highlighting issues that were either met with “*uck off” or comments which showed no engagement with the original post. We’re only 9 games in.

With injuries returning, we should be confident of pressing on. But December is a tough month. At times therefore emotions will be running high at different points in the season. Surely we can all have a laugh without resorting to pointless digs. After all we all love Bees, why Else would you spend weekend scouring the forum

We’re well placed after a weird set of opening fixtures against 4 of the Big 6 away and the bottom 5 at home. Now we have 4 games in November against fellow midtable contenders to see what we can really target. They’re all winnable enough to have us go into December on 25 points and in European contention and all loseable enough that we could be sat in 16th and having the “oh but what if Ipswich put together a run of wins” conversation.

Before anyone complains that’s too balanced for “only positive comments” my thinking is that the “what if” convo is also a positive just for the fun of Banana with increasing exasperation having to patiently point out how implausible it is for a club that’s struggled to get more than a couple of wins in 13 games to go on a run of three back to back let alone to quadruple their total in the last 2/3 of the season.

A good stat for those who look DOWN the table*…

For the first time in the history of English top-flight football, four different teams have now gone eight games into a season without a single win. Wolves, Ipswich, Southampton and Crystal Palace are all still seeking their first victory...

*this stat was also before yesterdays matches too so their winless streaks continue. Bad news for our title challenge though.

Have stayed away from posting for a while but having read some of the comments on here today I am, to say the least, flabbergasted.

We are still in the cup, yes may not have played at our best but by god our penalties are pretty impressive!!! However it would seem that both our keeper and stand in CF had stinkers, others played below their abilities and our Manager has had his head turned by talks of Man Utd!!!!

In the past we have been the “ plucky” lower league team giving everything to get a result and Wednesday should be complimented for their efforts having got an equaliser out of the blue, but we had enough chances over 90 mins to have put the game to bed, we didn’t %%%% happens!!’

We are a bloody good team which will only get better, we don’t need to over analyse body language or the system we play, enjoy what we do celebrate the success, accept that there will be blips along the way and look forward to going further in the cup

We are in the top half of the best football league in the World

We are in the QFs of a major domestic cup competition

We are undefeated at home this season

All this while missing our right back, left back and new marquee signing centre forward and with a woeful defence, a dodgy keeper and a German International centre forward who refuses to smile

Pretty good isn’t it ?

Just imagine if we were any good, it might even become enjoyable.

I sometimes think after a disappointing game the most important thing is to get something on the board. Ideally a win, but even a draw against a good Muff side with an improved performance I’d take

If we had lost zero points from winning positions this season we'd be top of the league. Just let that sink in

If you take the final last second goals out of the last two games, we would actually be 1 point worse off.

I lost a very good friend to MND very recently and the arrangements are hard to bear as her family grieve - horrendous to see.
I therefore tell myself It's football, its painful but the sun still came up today, I can still tell my family I love them. It just makes me want to love life, to suck it in and cherish it. You Bees

But in four have those we have taken the lead in the first two minutes, always gives the other team time to get into the game.

Then its our job to a) stop them and b) score more goals to pad the lead

In a ideal world we would be winning 10-0 every game but we know the reality of football especially after last night's six minutes of madness.

Conceding late to Fulham at least reminded me of all the times we've done it to them over the last decade - Jota, Judge, Jota again, Maupay.... Benrahma and Marcondes...... err Dalsgaard at Wembley I suppose.

Something small to cling to anyway.

I am watching Brentford in the top flight of English football, which I, like many on this site, never thought we would see. Yes we will win games and yes we will lose games, but when I think of all the games we played and lost in Div 3 and Div 4, I have never had it so good.

Before last night, I think they’d won only 3 of our last 10 meetings…

I think this century I think we had 9 wins and 4 defeats. A decent record against a local rival.

I remember going to Barrow. Workington. Bradford P.A. Chester. Etc. We are living the dream. Long may it continue
Exactly. And the dream will continue because there are several teams we are much better than and once injured players return the only way is up even further.

Hopefully this is taken in the spirit it's meant...........
Were it not for 2 "freak" goals last Monday, we'd have been 5th after our game yesterday.............and Fulham 11th.......

P.S. Having only just summoned up the courage to check what I thought from last Monday, and not sure if mentioned elsewhere, I can confirm that both their goals were extremely fortunate, and not "brilliant finishes" as has been claimed by pundits.

First one was a speculative flick of the boot, that really could have gone anywhere, and 999/1000 would have gone nowhere near the goal.
Second one, if you look carefully, he actually heads the ball onto his own shoulder!!! A clean header, and Flekken makes an easy save.
