Was trying to put a date on when the good times started at Brentford and how old you have to be to remember our dark days.

Championship promotion was 2014, so assuming someone started going regularly at 14 yrs old, then 25 yrs old and under have only known the good times.

Bees United transferred control of the club to Matthew Benham in 2012, and the last few seasons in League One from 2010 onwards were all top half.

Therefore, after three paragraphs of highly unscientific analysis & babble, you, remarkably, have to be over 30 to have witnessed the real dross.

Assume that’s 99.99% of the GPG ;)
And there was years of it. Made the occasional promotion, successful fight against relegation and good Cup runs so special. Must be so boring being a Man City fan!

This reminded me of this account of going to see us early in the Rosler era. Normal Service Resumed? Sheffield Utd v Brentford

That was right at the start of the club making a clear decision to transform itself. My boy (pictured not very much enjoying a 0-2 at Bramall Lane at the age of 4 which he doesn’t now remember) now 18 was there.

What is interesting is how relentlessly the club has backed that project for over 14 years since and how seamlessly my ambition as a fan (and I hope not to flatter myself by saying I’m fairly representative on this!) has gone from “this is worth doing to see if we can get up to and stay for more than a season in the Chsmpionship” to “with a fair wind we should be at the top end of the PL, challenging for Europe and properly going for it in the cups because we are good enough to win one”.

Still midtable - a strong end could give us a top 10 finish which given the injuries (again) would be a really positive outcome.

I've now been to Newcastle four times and seen us lose, in sequence;

5-1
4-1
3-1
2-1

We are absolutely nailed on for a 1-1 draw there next season.
You missed the 3-3!

We have adapted a playing style this season that has seen us go from pragmatic to positive more often than not which is a clear evolution and should be applauded given the many injuries suffered to key players throughout. This has coincided (due to?) with Damsgaard being far more influential and long may it continue.

30 games into the season - and we’re still above Man United and Tottenham.

Only 1 point from mathematical safety!!!

In reality, we were probably safe before Christmas.

With 6 games to go, we're still 5 points or more clear of super massive clubs like Spurs, Utd and West Ham.

The gap between Brentford and the team below has increased.

So we could really do with beating Man Utd at home to help our bid for European qualification.

Even a few seasons ago I never dreamed of typing that!

Mid table nearly assured and still got a sniff of Europe after today's result - all this with our injuries takes some believing

From a quick bit of research I can only see four strike partnerships where both players scored 20+ goals in the 33 Premier League seasons to date: Cole & Beardsley in 1993-4; Drogba & Lampard in 2009-10; Suarez & Sturridge in 2013-14; and Mane & Salah in 2018-19. Not one from the elite Manchester or Arsenal sides. And yet…

Bryan only needs a couple more and Yoane four. What an incredible achievement that would be.

8-12 in the EPL now very interesting indeed!! ?

If West Ham had done the obvious against Southampton would have even more interesting 14-17 as well
Yes that cost me big time with my ACCA too!! Jeez, they are rubbish

Now 8 and 9 points clear of Utd and Spurs.
Great season.
Poised for our best season since 1938 ?

We beat a team that are above us in the table ;)

Regardless of whether we finish in 8th it has been a stellar season given that we haven't fielded our best team once yet (at least on paper).

After tonight almost certain to finish above Man Utd and Spurs to boot - imagine saying that 15 years ago..

8. Fulham, +4, 51 points
9. Brighton-Hove, +1, 51 points
10. Bournemouth, +12, 50 points
11. Brentford, +8, 49 Points

Fulham have Villa(A), Everton(H), Brentford(A), ManCity(H)
Brighton-Hove have Newcastle(H), Wolves(A), Liverpool(H), Spurs(A)
Bournemouth have Arsenal(A), Villa(H), ManCity(A), Leicester(H)
Brentford have ManUtd(H), Ipswich(A), Fulham(H), Wolves(A)

We arguably have the best run-in, and Bournemouths' are fairly brutal, 'xcept Leicester

I think we definitely have the best and playing Fulham helps immensely if we win

Officially will finish above Tottenham and Manchester united (maybe in our history) this season

what a time to be a Brentford fan

Lowest finishing position is 12th so a decent amount of extra wedge compared to last season

Well what a last 84+ hours it has been for all us Bees fans.
Forest two time a European Cup winners beaten on their own patch.
Manchester United European Cup and Champions League winners beaten.
Absolutely brilliant.
Long may it continue.
COYB's.
