Orient match reports

Gutted we lost in the way that we did ... Created all the chances, had the majority of possession and to a goal that was a yard offside ;-(
We have skilful players in the squad .. Forrester, Foreshaw, Bidwell, Dean to name but a few.
Hayes needs to get fit and quick and so him starting in front Farrid tonight .. Can understand that.
I so want us to be a team to be proud of and knocking on the door for promotion .. early days.

Orient match reports

You are criticising Dave for the very same thing you just praised Craig for ?!!

When you have 65% possession you might expect a midfielder to influence the game more than a defender.

Orient match reports

More frustrated than happy, but there is still reason to be positive, as some of the football was excellent, and we are making a shed load of chances which on other days will go in. Agree that Farid should have started instead of Hayes, but can see why he would want to have all 3 strikers match fit. Apart from strikers taking chances, not enough crosses or dead balls beat the first defender. Still think there is enough there for us to be challenging. Scott is very bitter and twisted, and should be grown up enough to move on.

Orient match reports

I absolutely, unquestionably and whole heartedly believe that are going to get it right this season. Sorry for the positivity. :)

Nah.
There will be a mini-run of four or five wins on the trot around February or March which will fool some into believing we are going somewhere, then with four to six weeks of the season remaining we'll be a solid ninth or tenth, prompting a number of "believers" to put up numerous posts of how if we can just win our remaining games, etc, etc.
Six games, eight points, one free-scoring game among a dearth of goals otherwise is about right for this lot.
Probably lose to Wrexham again in the Cup.

Orient match reports

Uwe has got a group of good skillfull players we must stick with this..it isalong term outlook that will pay off .. We can't go back to hoofing it up

Orient match reports

Nothing Craig did affected the outcome of the game so he'll get no criticism from me. Ditto Forrester unfortunately so he does (albeit as part of a gang of four). Whereas Dave - I don't like him you know. I have never seen him influence a game.

You're right about Craig and the outcome of the game. But it worries the feck out of me when he gets absolutely battered and put on his arse by Lisbie. TC isn't big enough, or strong enough to be a CB. I could go on about his awful heading being like Alan Whitehead, but that would make me look obsessed, wouldn't it?

Orient match reports

Sadly the football was very unimpressive. Teams that get promoted win these games.

But on the good side - Lorna's Shepperds Pie and Enchiladas were excellent.

Orient match reports

My intention was not to be condescending and I can only apologise if you interpreted my post in that manner. As far as I was concerned I was ironically pointing out what I consider to be the fallicy of your argument. It's a rhetorical device. Please don't take everything so personally.

With regards to Uwe's comments no one is suggesting he 'slags' anyone off but why praise a player who quite obviously didn't merit it on that performance.

I agree - I would be ashamed of my performance if I was Hayes, he was dire. There is a minimum standard that must be achieved. Ok he isn't fit, but he is a professional footballer! It is ridiculous to come out and say he played well....we all know that's a b***ocks comment, so why make himself look like a mug by saying it? Baffling.....

Orient match reports

Yep, maybe a lot of us are over the top, but there are also a lot on here that will except mid table.

Craig did nothing wrong today I agree, but Dave was all over the park in Vieira like manner today. Given he does have some quiet games but when he is on song, his ability to do the simple stuff i.e. win the ball, pass and move, is on a par with any centre mid in this division. There is a reason why all three managers we have had since he's been with us has put him as one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Im going to say some things that a lot of people wont agree with here but here goes..... we were awesome in the first half, just couldnt get that goal, to be fair their keeper played pretty well and we werent wasting many chances, they were on target. As someone said earlier, Craig looks like a full back playing emergency centre back. He gives us nothing that Leon wouldnt. Forshaw was amazing and should be at a higher level. Hayes wasnt that bad but just didnt look match fit, poor decisiin by Uwe to not play Farid. Harry and Forshaw WILL tear teams apart this season. Yes we should have won, but sh*t happens and if we do that to a Sheff Utd or Coventry and steal a win, we wont complain. We will get consistently better.

Totally OTT, first start from Hayes and he probably won't be happy but he's a clever footballer and will be good for us.

Orient match reports

A few positives, but nothing changes. We bossed the game and they have one strike on target and yet again we get nothing from a game that we should have won comfortably. Hard to put a finger on what's wrong, is it the manager, the system, or a combination of both? Hard to understand how Hayes lasted 80 minutes, but I'am no manager, so maybe Uwe knows better than me.

All I know we were gifted a relatively easy start to the season and in all honesty we should have around 15 points by now. Most of the teams that we have played, will be in the lower reaches come the end of the season. I just hope that we won't rue our inept start, against the poorer team, come the end of the season. Oh well a home game for me on Tuesday, and bragging rights are at stake, must admit I have a bad feeling about our chances at Dean Court.

Fair enough, your opinion. I'm not saying he won't come good, but he was dogshit tonight....

Listen - I understand what you're saying so don't get me wrong if I disagree. He's not a bad footballer. I just think that the sideways and backwards movement is an easier option than the incisive stuff for him. I look at Forrester, Saunders and Douglas who at least try to make things happen and then Dave who imo goes for an easy option more often than not. Sure, he's comfortable on the ball but he he is too safe for the position he plays and that holds us back.

Orient match reports

Around 45 attempts on goal in the last 2 games. One goal to show for our efforts. Pretty clear what the problem is - finishing - and I don't put that down to the forwards alone. As a team we're terrible at finishing. Craig and Dean wasted glorious headers, Forshaw and Dave had woeful efforts from distance and Hayes totally missed his kick from 3 yards out.

Orient where only ever going to score from a lumped ball in the box and a scramble. Despite it being offside I kind of felt we deserved it for being so wasteful.

Orient match reports

Brentford keep breaking my heart

Fantastic performance from the away fans again

Orient match reports

Another visit to Brisbane Road and another defeat when will I ever learn.

Terrific performance from the whole team but still a puzzle how we lost it given the chances we created and passages of play which had Orient reelling. We should have had them buried by half time.

Can't recall Moore making any real save.

Good support it has to be said.

Sorry, but I've been watching a different brentford if we boss the game regularly. It was a good performance tonight, and an unfortunate result. I (who have been very critical of Rosler in the past) actually felt like I could see the plan tonight - it just didn't quite come off. As I said before, as someone who usually gets told off for being too negative on here, I think tonight is one time we shouldn't get carried away by disappointment at a bad result.

That's a fair critique and I accept he has a few too many off days (today wasn't one of them though). Nevertheless, I just think in general on these threads when we loose, Dave is scapegoated too often and when we win, his contribution is often ignored. Can't understand why he so seldom gets into GPG starting XI's yet always seems to get into matchday XI's.

Agreed. Players need 3-4 games to get going properly. He is a quality footballer and will come good. Not a lot wrong tonight apart from the obvious, I'm sure this will change.

Orient match reports

Normal suspects with usual complaints following a defeat, watching the game on the box without sound was an interesting exercise and put a different perspective on the performance

We played some decent football but did not take our chances then were hit with an offside sucker goal such things happen, just look at Chelsea in the champions league

Hayes was played behind Clayton his role being to create, not overly impressed however with 3 forwards it is not unreasonable to expect some rotation would expect Farid and Clayton to start next game and receive their share of complaints for missing chances

Didn't see much wrong with Craig tonight, he was out muscled from time to time but so was Harlee who seemingly is spared criticism

We have a young team playing some decent football, something Mr Scott would not recognise, the style at present is light years ahead of the dross we have been served up in the past and when it works is a delight. Rosler has assembled a decent squad of players who will get better. Yes there is still lots of work to be done but some of the comments on here are, in my opinion, considerably OTT

Orient match reports

The ball from Forshaw through to Logan in the first half for the Hayes chance was absolutely class, perfectly timed and perfectly weighted.... I really feel we are lucky to have this lad!

Orient match reports

2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats in the first 6 league games is average, plain and simple.

Not bad, but not top six stuff. We play at a sedate pace, pretty and pass, but in truth the passion comes from the terrace more than the team at the moment! Only one game in these 6 have we chased and harried from the off, Crewe at home and we were out of sight on 30 mins. It's mystifying why we start the majority of games feeling our way in, instead of going for it.

Orient are like 12 - 14 teams in this division, kick, hope and hang on, we couldn't put them away and got one on the jaw, sucker punch! Rosler and our team have been average so far this season, regardless of opinions, it's judged on results. Uwe knows it and we know it.

Mediocrity can be habit forming and it's our time to want a little more than that! :sorted:

Orient match reports

Just calmed down after that.
I know Uwe will have a go at me for this but IMO we have once again appeared to play a side off the park without reward.
I use the word appeared because although percentage wise we dominated, much of our possession doesn't actually hurt sides
It's side to side stuff with no one apart from Forshaw prepared to have a dig from outside the box
Our shooting throughout the side is again IMO pretty woeful and lacks conviction
I thought Hayes was poor but Uwe has to defend his players
I'm a fan of Donaldson but really would line him to be a lot nastier in the box as he seems to be shoved off the ball far too easily.... He seems to be at his best when he dies things instinctively without time to think
If we want to be top six then we have to win games we are bossing - because that's what good teams do
IMO we are still too fragile and lack pace up top
There - feel better now!

Donaldson ball to Forrester for Hayes chance in the second half was great as well.

Orient match reports

Good post ... In a nutshell we seem to think that because we are technically better players than many in this division, we will win
Unfortunately you have to earn the right to play your football first and sides like Orient, sadly, won't just roll over and let us show our skills

Orient match reports

Donaldson ball to Forrester for Hayes chance in the second half was great as well.

Yep, probably even better! I thought Forrester offered a lot, he is quick, has two feet and can hit a ball as well as play incisive passes.

I agree with this. Too much negative football for my liking.

Orient match reports

Not going to bother reading this thread because I'm sure its fully of the usual crap after a defeat...

We battered them, created a lot of chances but couldn't put the ball in the net and they scored there only shot. Last season we could barely muster an attempt, at least we ate creating and soon enough they will be flying in.

Orient match reports

Surely Rosler hasn't just said Hayes was excellent - he was appalling, contributed nothing.

Hayes supplied the best pass in the match for CD to really Test the Keeper. Slade did a Job on us when he was at Yeovil and seems to have the Midas touch against us. Orient defended in numbers and got a lucky break for the goal. We will get winning results playing worse against better teams. First half we looked good value for money with a healthy possesion . Second half we started to play to many long balls and were not patient enough around the box. Dissapointing result but not the end of the world. COYR

Orient match reports

I am so disappointed. Saw the Bees for the first time in the flesh so as to speak on Saturday - I saw lots to like and felt we totally dominated, however, we huffed and puffed and made hard work of a game we should have won convincingly IMHO. Tonight was the same - we dominated but there was no cutting edge and I never felt that we going to score. So much pretty football and some excellent moves but nothing to show for it. I am so fed up with so called "inferior" opposition hanging on in there and managing to frustrate us - my concern is our inability to break these teams down. If we cannot see off the likes of Walsall, Bury and now Leyton Orient, heaven only knows what is in store when we play the so called bigger teams. Early days still I know but on this showing, midtable again beckons methinks.

Orient match reports

As I said earlier, I'm struggling to think of many clear cut chances we failed to put away ?

Hayes's shot that was charged down from Logans cross following a great move down the right.

there was only one team attempting to play football tonight and that was us. Orient are a team of cloggers and will be very near the bottom come next May - fact !

Orient match reports

In truth we pissed all over them. I have no issue whatsoever that Uwe started Hayes instead of Farid. FEA won't be able to play 3 games in 11 days after a season in the Scottish League One - and him playing a full 90 tonight would have worn him out in time for our next game, which is just round the corner. Similarly, Hayes won't be good enough in any capacity if he's not fit, and therefore must be started in games if he's going to add value over the course of the season - he barely had a preseason, so starting him against a team in the relegation zone isn't the worst thing Uwe could do.

Thought Harlee was very good again tonight, Craig seems a bit unsure of himself sometimes, but positionally they're both decent. I thought Bidwell had a bit of a rubbish game tonight, plenty of aimless headers when he could have controlled the ball, a number of mis-hit clearances and didn't really get forward well enough for me.

I think by the fact that we create so many chances, it's fair to say (in my opinion) that the midfield is clicking. They work hard for each other and move the ball around with purpose... Very few aimless punts up field like Orient spent 90 minutes doing. Hayes wasnt great, although seems to have a decent touch. 6 in 6 at WW shows that he can score, but it would have been interesting to see how he would have fitted into that slide.

I think at the moment we're just really lacking in composure - at both ends of the field. Tonight was obviously offside, but our recent goals conceded have been through lack of concentration, whereas our finishing has been wayward for the same reason in my opinion. Donaldson is still the top scorer in thel league, he's going to miss loads this season, but I rather he creates lots and misses a hatfull than not creating or scoring at all. His movement has got to be one of the best in the league, but at the moment his finishing is severely struggling. Very frustrating tonight, and I've got a feeling that unless we sort this out we'll probably end up with bizarre statistics this seasons relating to the highest possession/shots on target/passes completed but with the worst win ration...

Orient match reports

Havin listened to the stick Uwe gets from the terrace and reading comments on here referring to his nationality I wonder if the anti brigade are more anti his nationality than anything else.
Personally think what I am watching is one hell of a lot better than the hit and hope of the last god knows how many seasons.
Hope it's not the case but have a feeling it is !!!!!

Not sure if you were at the game tonight, but for 5 mins solid the away terrace chanted 'Uwe Rosler's barmy army' and were fully supportive of him throughout tonight's the game.

Once again, the PC Brigade minority tarnish the majority of fans who are fully behind Rosler

Orient match reports

We played some really good stuff until final third and then nish. People can go on forever debating whatever but the main question is. Why The **** Did Farid Not Start!!!!!!!!!!
Forrrster for Saunders yes and that's it!!!!!!!

Orient match reports

Very frustrating evening, a few thoughts:

-Craig played fine tonight, using him as a scapegoat is extremely unjust. Him and Harlee played very similar games yet only one is getting any criticism.

-We played like the home team tonight, which is surely a positive. We dictated the majority of play and were caught by Orient having one shot (having been at the game I have no idea if it was offside or not).

-Yes our finishing is an issue, but I remember times last season and seasons before that where we would go games on end without a shot on goal. The football being served up at the moment is a dramatic improvement.

-Hayes was poor, despite Uwe's comments. While he held up the ball on occasion, he lost it far too often. While I fully understand the need to rotate, I feel that tonight was not the night, as we have 5 days until our next game.

-Forshaw is absolute class, I can't remember seeing a centre mid so comfortable on the ball and so willing to try the incisive pass.

-Comments that Forrester lacked input are frankly rubbish, when he was on the ball there was a genuine feeling that he was the one to create something.

All in all, I get the impression that we are there or there abouts, there is so much more to play for in this league and I am still fully confident that we will be up there come the end of the season.

Orient match reports

Not trying to be funny, I may have missed something but why wouldn't Farid be fit enough? I was a bit puzzled when Uwe said about the games coming up, and hinted he was basically rested. Its september ffs and they're professional footballers!

We hadnt played for 5 days and wont play Bournemouth for another 5 days and like you say its September

Hate to say it but we are going to finish someone between 8th and about 14th, we will win the odd game impressively to keep the Rosler apologists happy and lose a number of games with performances like tonight and the same people will say we played well and deserved better and everything is fine.

I dont see how anyone can look at this side under Rosler and think its suddenly going to start winning much more consistently than about the 2 games in every 6 as currently.

Happy to have a little wager we'll finish above 8th. Know it's inconsistent but think we're close to being a very good side, just need to convert more of the numerous chances being created and we'll be fine.

Orient match reports

How can anyone say we need a change in manager? Look at the side we have, one of the strongest we've had in years. Today we were dominant, without the final finish. El Alagui was never going to be able to play twice a week this soon after a move from the Scottish First Division so I can see why Hayes started. However Hayes looked well off the pace tonight. The goals will come, and in Adam Forshaw, I am sure we have a future premier league player there.

Orient match reports

Just got back. Started to read pages one and two and had to skip the rest, too much negativity. Doubt we would have seen 5pages if we had won.
People need to realise this is football and anything can happen. Also they need to realise without Matthew Benham we wouldn't even be in this position. Be grateful we are in this position. We would be watching conference football moaning how sh*t we actually are. We have the best squad of players for years and best football I've seen also.

Don't know why Farid didn't start and was worried when I heard Hayes was starting.
Farid is a no nonsense striker who we needed tonight, balls in an around the Orient box, with no one there to just smash one at goal.
Midfielders need to also pop up with some goals.
Saunders is out of form and really only scores free kicks. I don't think Forrester has scored for us yet, Dave doesn't score many and neither does Douglas. Also not sure Forshaw has either. Dallas has yet to feature, who looked impressive in pre season.
The amount of crosses and corners with no one winning the header is shocking.
Forshaw, Forrester, Logan and Dean were very good. Gutted to see Forshaw go off, he's been playing consitantlty good this season so far.
First half we were dominant we're comfortable and reduced Orient to hardly anything.
Not many clear cut chances more half chances but wasn't to be our night that's football. You don't just turn up and win, it's a game and anything can happen. One shot on target and one goal for them, says it all.
How Rowlands was man of the match I never know. He got a good ear bashing every 5minutes :)
Very good atmosphere by the bees fans, don't know how many was there maybe 500tops but non stop singing was great and the Uwe Rosler Barmy Army song first half was brilliant :) roll on Bournemouth

Haven't read the posts on here, but seems like Forrester 'no end product'? On this one occasion, but he had a great game. Dean and Forshaw also, especially Forshaw. Logan was decent too. Bidwell was quieter than usual, and if we had a true finisher in our team we would have won easily tonight. Great bees support tonight, the Uwe song went on for roughly ten minutes. Terrible starting Hayes ahead of Farid. Donaldson get back on the training pitch for shooting practice.

Orient match reports

Support was excellent. As for the game, it was always gonna happen.. We ripped them to shreds, couldn't score then they score an undoubtedly offside goal. Just wasn't our night.

Orient match reports

Rowlands MOM? Are you kidding me? He was a virtual passenger all game. At least he had the sense to say Griffith deserved it more than he did.

We were the better side for long periods of the game. They started quite brightly but we settled in and literally bossed it for the rest of the half. They were a bit competitive in the second period but we still played the better stuff. That said, the longer it went on, the more I felt they would just need that one chance to nick it. Very frustrating, more so because it was offside and the linesman is there to spot that, but as they say, it happens.

Forshaw and Forrester literally ran the game, always prodding and probing but we just didn't have that killer instinct to finish our chances and it cost us.

does rosler read this board? you seem to be fairly sure he does...
if so, can i just say uwe- stop wasting time reading this board, and spend your every waking moment moving heaven and earth to get our beloved bees out of this poxy division! unless you think you're not up to the job, in which case..
