You're naive if you think Uwe or MB will be happy, but I don't ever want our dirty linen washed in public again so no problem at this early stage with a positive front when a mic is shoved under your nose immediately after the game. From a fans perspective, we all see it differently, I thin k we're on the right track albeit a bit toothless but I'd far rather watch the type of football played by us tonight than that I've endured since possibly Coppell was in charge. Don't bother telling me the rules have changed, it took Leeds three years to get out of this division, Southampton two and Sheff Utd are in their second so as long as I can see us making progress I'm happy enough for now.

I'm getting all giddy, more sensible balanced comments! We no doubt have some shortcomings at present and whilst immediatelty after the game I was peed off and frustrated we had lost, on reflection there is clearly an improvement in the play and we are going in the right direction albeit not as quick as many would like. I would love it all to click straight in to place but I think patience is required as we have made big steps compared to where we were last year. If it doesn't happen this year then I'm sure next year further steps will have been taken and slowly but surely we are improving and moving in the right direction amd I'm confident we will get to where we all want to be.

Scott was a bitter and twisted **** last night, his sneering at us was disgusting, he thinks we should be top 2 and loved us losing.

I had to turn off the minute I saw that **** Rowlands giving it the large about really enjoying that result in particular, couldn't bare to watch another **** in Scott being a snide.

Orient match reports

Interesting to see some of the opinions. For me, it's hard to see what we did wrong other than fail to take chances. They had one shot on target and it went in. I'd be worried if we weren't creating chances but we are. There is a bagload of games to go. Don't panic.

But over 40chances in 2 games and 1 goal how can this be good?
Doesnt matter how many you create if you cant put it away, like the lob from Donaldson that a centre half would have been proud of as a backpass.

Orient match reports

I thought we played well and yes we dominated. The passing is slick and we are creating far more chances in games than in recent seasons. (just need to take them!!) It does feel like we were 'robbed' but if we dont put the chances away then we were always going to be caught with the single chance they had.. albeit offside.
As others have said, Hayes was poor but still think he will be an asset, however I was very surprised to see Farid on the bench.
Forrester deserved his chance and played well.
Thought Logan played very well and Forshaw is a great player (as was commented by an orient supporter at work) !
Overall we should still try to take the positives from a disappointing result and hopefully the chances made will be taken.
Andy Scott was a complete joke as a pundit... went down in my estimations.. so biased towards orient... came across as very bitter even suggested with our budget (the same as he had!) should be expecting second spot!! and gave Rowlands MoM to wind it up!!

Just for fun:

Smith - Moore Definitely Smith, but Moore not a weak link at the moment

Ijah - Bidwell Defintiely Bidwell
O'Connor - Logan Depends what you're after, Kev for defending, Logan for attacking.
Powell - Craig Powell
Ivar - Dean Ivar, but Dean is looking like he'll be one hell of a player in a few years

Evans - Douglas Douglas has more 'pedigree' but lacks Evo's goals.
Sidwell - Dave Sidwell
Rowlands - Forshaw Rowlands for the goals, but in truth maybe Forshaw and Sidwell is a fairer comaprison, I'm comparing the role in last night's team versus Coppell's
Hunt - Forrester Hunt, but a lot to be excited about with Forrester

Owusu - Donaldson Owusu
Burgess - Hayes Burgess was still on his way up, Hayes is on his way down, but simialr players imo

Clearly Coppell's team is better, but the main difference is that most of Coppell's team were closer to their peak when with us, whereas a lot of the current team are either past their peak (Craig, Douglas, Hayes) or work-in-progress (Moore, Dean, Logan, Forshaw, Forrester) and at least at the moment there's a lot more goals in Coppell's team, and from more positions.

But did O'Connor ever play right back under Coppell? I recall he was mainly sub that season and when he did come on it was either as a striker or right mid. I think it was Dobson and occasionally Price who played right back that season. Evans set pieces and goals were more important to us but I think Douglas overall is a better midfielder than he was.

Will iit be like this every time we lose a game ? A further revelation . We will lose more games this season but the difference between this years defeat at Orent and last years on the virtually same date is tonight the overall play wasn't bad - pretty good in fact ,

We don't have the right strikers to get promoted thats a fact and maybe some of the Donaldson fan club will now start to smell the coffee. Hayes looked poor also we need much better up there and hopefully Rosler will realise this before it is his downfall.

There were positives tonight plenty of them , Forrester, Forshaw , Bidwell, Logan, Dean . Cheer up for gawds sake it's a defeat sh*t happens.

Not sure we have anything left in the budjet, Hayes has taken a big chunk of this (£5k a week?)

Orient match reports

Tinkerman strikes again! Leaving Hayes on for 83 minutes was appaling management. :banghead:

We need a striker and a midfield enforcer NOW :thetruth:

It's getting close to the time we buy Mr Rosler a one way eurotunnel ticket back to the continent.

Quite agree. How many times did we slate Scott for not backing his players in public?

Somebody on Facebook has suggested that Farid was wearing a cast. Was otherwise engaged last night so would anybody else be able to confirm or deny this?

I actually thought Scott's bitterness made his analysis of the game on the money though, mostly you would have had some ex player pundit saying how unlucky we were and a few other cliches. What he said about the actual 90 minutes of football was accurate even if people dont like to hear it.

Benham was on Facebook straight after the game posting he was happy with the performance

Cant remember hayes being in league team of the week, hope FARRIDS agent does not start touting him elsewhere ,this is not good enough or consistent enough from ROSLER !

I thought that Farid looked really p1ssed off on the nebch, and even more so when he comes on in the 80th, presumably being told to go and win the game. Uwe is making some worryingly odd decisions. Not another AS please: all ego and never prepared to admit he may have made a mistake (although i think he did admit to one recently, to be fair).

Oh yes, and Andy Scott just trashed the final bit of "affection" i had for him. I thought he was great as a player and was over the moon when he came back to manage. But last night his comments and MoM award just make him a complete ****.

He only chose Rowlands because he could our fans chants about him (MR) all evening and wanted to wind us up even more!

We bicker amongst ourselves about who said what about which player when the truly offensive gets ignored.
of all the things I've read on here this is right up there, why has it not been either questioned or removed?

Orient match reports

What worried me about CD and Hayes last night was their reluctance to get into the box and the 6 yard box, both appear happier roaming and being clever outside of it, Farid strikes me as a lad who wants to be in the thick of it and go in hard for that tap in. The few times we overlapped but there was nobody square to pass to, it's pretty stuff but is it going anywhere, we controlled the Bury game and never looked like winning, I thought the same last night.

There's always the 'report a post' icon, which can be used by GPG'ers to highlight a post people find inappropriate, or use of words/phrases, which are uncalled for. We can then check, and delete, if it is not appropriate. Thanks.

Hayes did once and completely fluffed his chance. Great work by Donaldson and Forrester too.

Sorry two away defeats in succesive seasons to a very poor/average Orient side is not progress, it may well have taken Southampton/Leeds/sheff weds more than one attempt to get out of this league but they have the budget and support to be able to sustain it we don't and this constant moving in the right direction that people are forever spouting is just clutching at straws, what is it about some Brentford fans that they continually accept poor defeats as some sort of progress?

Which is why I wouldn't mind Adeyemi replacing Dave in the diamond. We need more people in the box especially when Clayton is running the channels and Toumani never does that

For what it's worth, I'm with those who are more frustrated than dismayed. We totally bossed a poor looking Orient in the first half and should have been a goal to the good. Second half a little more even, but even as we resorted to more frustrating hoof-it-up-to-Clayton tactics we still looked a better footballing side than they. I like the fact that we are trying to play a neat passing game, most of the time. But, if you don't score, you don't win and you run the risk of the other team scoring which they did. So, they nicked it.
Poor result, adequate performance.
It's always going to be an unpopular decision to drop the in-form man for Hayes, and it didn't really work for me, but had a couple of things gone a little more our way, it'd have passed with less comment. I guess we're yet to see the best of Paul Hayes yet, but we won't if he's not allowed to play - and if Uwe was tracking him for a year there must be something about the boy. Hopefully.
I hope I'm a little more measured than some who expect Martin Rowlands to be strung up from a lamp-post by his QPR shirt, but inevitably one watched him a little more closely than you might otherwise watch an opposition player...MOM? he was barely in the game if you ask me.
So, will I live long enough to see Brentford win at Orient? In the Olympic Stadium maybe...

Orient match reports

If the truth makes you happy then so be it

Personally, I don't think you are ever very near the truth.

We are playing the best football for years BUT lack penetration in the final third at present. Once that happens you'll be amazed by the results. It shouldn't be THAT difficult to put right.

Couldn't agree more, an exaggeration I know but for along while after Ian Wright left Arsenal forgot how to to score scrappy goals in the box. We now look to have the same problem as no one gambles and hovers around the 18 yard box. Harlee was the wrong person to be on the end of the knock down from the corner second half but virtually all of the other chances would have been fantastic goals had they gone in, either individual pieces of exquisite football, Jake and Harry Free kicks, Claytons strike from a great pass from Hayes or the perfect team goal ala Barca when Hayes was denied by a last gasp block from Clarke after a 6 man move resulting in a great cross from Logan. I think Farid lacks the style and poise but he seems to be the type of bloke who will get in the box, knows where the net is and hence why when he's up to speed he has to get plenty of minutes on the pitch.

Never pleased but for now I'd take a few lucky goals off knees and shoulders or even a jammy offside - we need to become a lucky team as well as footballing side and still confident that when it gells we'll spank a few teams this season.

:imwith:

Just said to someone where I work that the vast number of chances we have created recently means something is going right and one day all these chances will get converted and someone hopefully lots of people will get a pasting

Orient match reports

Know Orient were bad but let's put something into perspective, that is the same Orient that by all accounts out played Swindon away from home. Perhaps taking that into consideration, our overall performance was pretty good but lady luck did not shine our way

Orient match reports

Quite surprised 500+ Bees faithful turned up. At least Nick Logan wasn't alone.

I was there and the vocal support sounded more than around 500, but there the acoustics do help. 'Uwe Rosler's Barmy Army' went on for at least 5 minutes, possibly more.

Orient match reports

Moore- Unlucky to be on the losing team didn't see the ball the whole game
Logan- Played well got forward and defended well moved the ball pretty well
Dean- Wasn't really at fault for the goal it was offside but he needs to be stronger there, otherwise didn't play badly
Craig- Poor again though he has steadily got better since the yeovil game thought he played alright but got worse as the game went on, maybe his fitness isn't very good
Bidwell- Same as Logan, played well and did his job
Douglas- Typical Douglas performance played well but didn't stand out for me
Dave- probably 1 of the worst players in our team, I have seen milk turn quicker, he never uses his left foot messed up the chance against colchester cause he's so stiff and really needs to take less touches to turn and be more proactive
Forrester- Easily Man of the Match, ran the midfield always wanted to be on the ball and was trying to make things happen used both feet which is different from Saunders, free kicks were ok but corners the delivery is usually poor when it wasn't the attackers wasted the opportunity
Forshaw- Had a good steady game, good on the ball and worked hard can't fault that
Donaldson- Wasn't to bad but like Douglas wasn't outstanding, he worked hard but his partnership with Hayes won't work because they are basically the same, both creatures rather than goal scorers
Hayes- Wasn't as bad as some people are saying but the situation is that he plays the same role as Donaldson
Subs- None really had a chance to make an impact and didn't, probably would have brought on Farid earlier but to each their own

overall orient are a team that will be lucky to stay up same as colchester but we didn't punish them, you can't have 30 shots and not score thats unacceptable, even if its away from home we didn't really test their keeper with most of the shots he had to make 3/4 moderately difficult saves, so for me even though we destroyed them, we weren't good enough and it has to go down as a bad performance for me, even though we did play well and dominated any other team could have had 5/6 chances and scored 2/3 goals against that team, I said at the weekend that i didn't fancy us for promotion we're too inconsistent and drift in and out from week to week

Orient match reports

Surely Rosler hasn't just said Hayes was excellent - he was appalling, contributed nothing.

What else is he going to say? Of course he will stick up for his new player.
He also said farid has come from Scottish league two and has played 3 games in a few days and needed a rest.
Can't argue with either of the comments.
But last night was like ground hog day, the same thing for 2 years now. Hayes start at brentford has been awful, misses a pen which would have won us a game with his second touch and then misses a sitter in his first start.

Not convinced at all. We have Sooooooooooooooooooooooo many midfielders and half will never get a chance to play so surely another faster forward should have been pursued.

Just bored by it all again.

Budget is exactly the same as the one scott took us near relegation with, :

You know that for sure do you - I think you'll find that you are completley wrong.

rosler on tele now...his finest comment:-

"paul hayes was excellent tonight"roflroflroflroflrofl

well that 'kin says it all.....i hope mb was watching that interview:rolleyes::banghead:

Look at MB's tweet for your reply! Why do you hate Rosler so much ? We are playing footbal we could only dream of 2 years ago and he deserves time to forge the side into a unit. The lesson from all succesful clubs is to provide stability for the manager not change one every 5 minutes. If we were rubbish (remember the Scott Fitzgerald era) I woudld agree but we are not. It all takes time and patience as MB knows.

I know I'm not the most positive of fans - probably because I've watched Brentford for 42 years and only one of those has been in a higher division - but despite all the rowing with eachother on here, the saddest thing for me is that so many supporters accept the way we are and perform.

Maybe the majority aren't as old as me and havent had to 'accept' as many seasons as I have had to endure but I just cannot 'accept' any longer.

One thing we should all be proud of is the fantastic bond and following the fans give - if the players for all those seasons Ive watched had matched the support given off the field we would be Premiership contenders.

We are an average side at best, with the biggest (and last) opportunity with the owners backing of getting it right - thats what I cannot accept.

Orient match reports

I thought the performance was good apart from not taking our chances andy scott clearly
has not changed as his decision to give M.O.M to rowlands was laughable and if he
really beleives that then his a bigger T*AT than i thought he was

Orient match reports

You know that for sure do you - I think you'll find that you are completley wrong.

i suppose i'm taking the answer given at the forum at the end of the season as gospel that there would be no increase in this seasons budget and i think warburton or someone said in one of this seasons programmes that it was the same.

sorry i'm using a mobile so cant quote your second post but you mention that this is the last year with a good budget, do you mean benham is refusing to finance another budget as large as now/previous seasons?

Orient match reports

Just got back. Started to read pages one and two and had to skip the rest, too much negativity. Doubt we would have seen 5pages if we had won.
People need to realise this is football and anything can happen. Also they need to realise without Matthew Benham we wouldn't even be in this position. Be grateful we are in this position. We would be watching conference football moaning how sh*t we actually are. We have the best squad of players for years and best football I've seen also.

Don't know why Farid didn't start and was worried when I heard Hayes was starting.
Farid is a no nonsense striker who we needed tonight, balls in an around the Orient box, with no one there to just smash one at goal.
Midfielders need to also pop up with some goals.
Saunders is out of form and really only scores free kicks. I don't think Forrester has scored for us yet, Dave doesn't score many and neither does Douglas. Also not sure Forshaw has either. Dallas has yet to feature, who looked impressive in pre season.
The amount of crosses and corners with no one winning the header is shocking.
Forshaw, Forrester, Logan and Dean were very good. Gutted to see Forshaw go off, he's been playing consitantlty good this season so far.
First half we were dominant we're comfortable and reduced Orient to hardly anything.
Not many clear cut chances more half chances but wasn't to be our night that's football. You don't just turn up and win, it's a game and anything can happen. One shot on target and one goal for them, says it all.
How Rowlands was man of the match I never know. He got a good ear bashing every 5minutes :)
Very good atmosphere by the bees fans, don't know how many was there maybe 500tops but non stop singing was great and the Uwe Rosler Barmy Army song first half was brilliant :) roll on Bournemouth

As far as I'm aware Greenholme, the budget hasn't changed. Both Andy and Uwe have been given the same amount of money to play with.

This has been consistent with what I've seen from the management accounts over the last couple of seasons.

By way of perspective, IMO the first ten games are all about settling the side in. I really don't care where we are in the table after 6 games. I do care about how we are playing. In terms of playing, I'm happy that the team seem to be comfortable with the playing ethos and we are serving up some good stuff. The even bigger plus is the amount of chances we are creating compared with last season. The only criticism is that we aren't taking them and that is a concern but IMO we have three decent strikers and that will come. I think some folk have to get used to rotation of personnel. IMO that's essential as it will get the best out of our very strong squad and we will see the benefits as the season rolls on and clubs with less strength in depth will begin to feel the pinch. And by the way, MB has tweeted that he was very happy with the play so end of.:D

Orient match reports

Was the MOM really Scott's decision ? I have my doubts, the SKY producers always give it to a player on the winning side and probably said to AS "Look here's the script, MOM is Rowlands, should be a bit of a laugh in winding up the Bees fans"

Well done to those that went interestingly Stevenage went to Coventry on Sunday and took just 92 fans !!!!! Says it all about them!!!
