Our Corners?
O'Connell has consistently looked more dangerous at corners than Tarky and Dean......

For me Bidwell delivered some outstanding corners.
Spot on. He scored 3 or 4,last season for Rochdale

Yes, but then you could counter that by saying our corners have been **** up until the Fulham game IMO.

Thought it was nine but might be wrong.
He simply attacks he ball better and seems to have better attacking instincts than Harlee and Tarks.
Barbet also had a great header brilliantly saved from a corner against Preston
I've always wondered how both of them can be such good headers of the ball defensively but so much weaker at it in attack.
..............a lot better at the moment..............
I imagine it's been longer than that to work on the different routines but they do seem to be paying off.Definite improvement, is smith embracing the specialists more than previous head coaches?
Our set plays have been one of the positives of this season for me. Yes sometimes we hit the forst man but aybe we are aiming for that front post area and sometimes under hit it.
Good goal from Barbet.
From Squawka, last season (46 games) we scored 13 of our 77 goals from set pieces, 4 from corners. That's about 16% and ranked us 23rd in the league. This season we have scored 12 goals out of our 48 from set pieces (not sure if that includes yesterday's game - let's assume it does so 35 games), 6 from corners. That's 25% and ranks us 7th in the league.

we swung over a corner and headed it in...good job gianni vio is doing , what about the 20 other corners and set pieces we did nothing from..

maybe a bit of inventiveness, a freekick routine that is something a bit different and I don't mean us using a 4 man wall...Yes, it's that simple isn't it? I'm not sure why every team ever doesn't score from every corner ever taken.
The data's there - we are better this season than last at set pieces. What more is it you want?

...............get in............
not so good last night, hit the first man
a few times
Surprising. MacLeod usually clears the near post.
I think Macleod was targeting Bjelland at the near post, not Egan and Dean at the back; maybe Smith had identified that as a weakness.

You've got it spot on. I was reading an article a little while ago that said exactly that - statistically very few goals are scored from corner kicks.I would imagine that one of our analysts has found that pumping balls into the box at someone's head very rarely results in a goal.
And another goal from a corner.![]()
