Looks like he is being made available for loan by QPHA I know he was here when he was younger & didn't set the world alight but could he do a job now ?

Patrick Agyemang

............ oh dear.................. :banghead:

You'll start one poster off now :(

I was wondering if he was one we have looked at, or thought of, already

he was a cracking player,Millwall away is a fond memory though we lost 3-2.Be interesting to see if hes still got it

Patrick Agyemang

Not the right kind of striker we need imo.

Patrick Agyemang

Liked him when he was here before but that seems so long ago ! In fact wasn't he on loan from Wimbledon - that is a long time ago.

Probably need someone with younger legs I would think.

Patrick Agyemang

Couldn't even get a look-in at Millwall really, so it's a no from me.

Patrick Agyemang

had terrific skills...

Hypocrite. Praising Bean after last week I seem to recall?

You better read the threads. Praised Bean as having done his bit, being one of us,nothing to do with last week. Not sure where the hypocrite comes in,probably you been drinking and looking in mirror boy

But you were abusive about Antonio German before he has had a chance to 'do his bit'. Please explain how that works.

Patrick Agyemang

Again incorrect, was not abusive about German, strongly against abuse of any players. My Bean post was 14-22 on Mon 30 Jan if you would like to refresh you memory

Patrick Agyemang

From the random moments of him I've seen on Sky, he seems to be a bit like GA, so nah. The kind of striker we're missing is a little man who can run past people.

Patrick Agyemang

Wasn't he originally at Wimbledon?
A perennial nearly man.
We can do better.

Patrick Agyemang

It's not very often that I see a name of a striker linked with us and I think 'I hope we're not signing him' but this is one of those occasions.

Patrick Agyemang

Good player and would do a decent job at our level IMO but I dont think he would offer anything that we dont already possess in the combined talents of Gaz and Clayton. As has already been said in this thread im hoping for a smaller, pacier player with the ability of being a bit of a poacher. For those scrappy games when quality is at a premium and all you need is someone to stick the thing in the net e.g. Scunny, Walsall

Patrick Agyemang

The fact is we're looking for a striker who can create and score goals, can imagine some on here will be apopletic if we sign a Rara with no real proof of either of late!

Patrick Agyemang

I went to Brentford Reserves vs QPR reserves a few years back when both teams fielded good teams. We had Charlie Mac, Marcus Bean, Leon Legge, Nikki Bull etc. They had Tom Heaton, Gavin Mahon, Matteo Alberti and Alessandro Pellicori, Agyemang and Antonio German.

At the time, I remember thinking that I would love to Agyemang on loan. He looked strong, brought people into the game, and his movement was excellent . There was one moment where he plucked the ball out of the air at full stretch with the ball coming over his shoulder - which I still remember clearly such was the quality of it. However, my QPR mate said his touch was one of the worst things about his game usually!

Also that day Antoino German played: He looked very quick, lively and skillful (he played a wide role). His touch let him down a couple of times but he really did look dangerous. Not a bad gamble at all for development squad.

I'm trying to think of a funny retort , and have deleted the link that I added as maybe it was a bit much even for me !

Patrick Agyemang

Was just thinking the same. CM filled half the requirement (ie., a tad vertically challenged) but sadly did not have oodles of ball skills.

Indeed although technically the initial post didnt actually say run past people with the ball....

Whether the guy can run past people with the ball or without (as in beating the offside trap), that's what we need.

I agree mate, a little man with a bit of a pace and a finish is another option that would be good for us to have as I said in my earlier post.

Patrick Agyemang

It's a pity that David Ball was persuaded to stay at Peterborough. My POSH mate says that he was very quick over a short sprint and a good finisher, just didn't get much game time to settle in and maybe not the Mackail-Smith they hoped he would be.

I was thinking the same but at least it shows that we agree on the type of player were after.

Perhaps we can see what Micheal Owen is doing apart from picking up pay cheques and developing his horse racing stable whilst spending large amounts of time on the treatment table.

Don't see why the QPR lad should be deemed a Development Squad player. If he's got something to offer get him on the bench, just hope he gets more of a chance than Uwe gave the invisible yank and whatever he does warn him not to score four goals in a game or he'll be out in the cold.

DJ?

Cannot see him getting much of a run now at QPR

Patrick Agyemang

DJ would probably only go to the Championship, look what he did for Blackpool only recently.

Can't see him dropping down to Division One unless one of the Sheffield clubs or 'Udders want to offer him Championship wages for the rest of this season.
Not very likely.

I would love to get Kevin Phillips he is now only getting used from the Bench. Still very fit. Could definitley do us some good.!

Patrick Agyemang

Nor could our No 1 striker Gary Alexander ???????

Alexander was more of a regular than Agyemang, who didn't impress enough to get an extension.

No chance! Four goals in five games, even if he did come off the bench in four of them. Blackpool would be mad to let him go.

Described as "priceless" by Holloway only last night.

Wages.
Not even close to being able to afford him.
On top of which he could walk into most of the Championship squads.
Expect Blackpool to make the play-offs at the end of the season.
And you wouldn't want to face them there, would you?
Paddy Power has cut them down to 4/1 to get promoted.

Was that Kevin Philips or Matt Philips, the latter is a young winger that 'Olly says will end up with one of the top five Premiership sides, he's supposed to be that good.

Patrick Agyemang

We have to live within our means. Donalson and Alexander our doing well imho. And we have a couple of others in our squad who can play upfront: Gella and Weston.

And the new lad too.....

If we are losing the money Rebus tells us we are week in, week out (and no reason to doubt him) we should stick with those we have and save a few extra pounds on our weekly losses.

There is a playing budget in place this season which AFAIK has not yet been fully expended. If there are the funds available to bring in a forward who will augment the squad then that is what we should do, and I'm sure that is Uwe's intention.

The concept of saving a few thousand pounds from a budget that's been agreed because we're counting the pennies in the same month we'be announced plans to commit to circa £1m pa in funding for an Academy doesn't really stack up does it ?

Patrick Agyemang

point taken.

however since the budgets were set we haven't had a cup run this season, haven't sold a player for a serious profit (if any), and our attendances are down too.

and we are looking to bring in a striker when we have five already.

hmmmmmmmm

Come on then, who would the 5 first team squad strikers be then?

I make it GA, Clayton and Grella who isn't an out and out forward anyway. Who else have I missed?

??? what did he do:confused: he scored 14 premiership league goals last season.. Rooney only got 11 league goals... think he may had been top english goal scorer:shrug:

Grella is and was signed as a striker (see official website /Middlesex Chronicle / this site etc etc) ; Weston plays wide or upfront (made his debut upfront and came on upfront recently) and the new boy, former QPR frontman Antonio German. At 20 he isn't a junior.

Five.

We have 3 'strikers'. Weston is a winger who could play up top. I doubt if German will get the chance to play this season but who knows.

That is stretching the point a little bit though. German has signed a Development Squad contract so clearly isn't considered ready for the first team squad yet whilst you could count the number of games Myles has played up top on one hand. Grella clearly hadn't worked out, at least in Uwe's eyes so we are short in terms of quality in that area. If we can bring in someone to improve that area then that surely has to be a good thing, of not an easy thing to do ?
