Great article Rasmus, you may not have been with the mighty bees for long, but you have made a great contribution. You are one of us no doubt about that. They can keep their Liverpools and Man U”s there is nothing like. Brentford football club. COYB.

2000+ cars in close proximity to a football stadium.
Will they be sitting, engines running, to keep the aircon going ?
Reminded me of this...https://nocado.org/

Typical Islingtonians. Love posh grub delivered to their doorstep but only as long as others pay the social price for getting it to them. Same people who love a ready supply of recreational drugs but only as long as other people's children kill each other to supply them.

Have they thought of doing this at Griffin Park? We should be able to get 4 or 5 cars into vacant slots on the roads surrounding the ground. 50G per ticket should cover it.

Rasmus did response to a tweet from the GPG saying that there's not enough space at GP and instead we would have to use a bunch of A-380 continuously circling Griffin Park instead.

I noticed today this interesting part of an interview with Rasmus Ankersen from the Bees United site.

"One thing that we’ve used a lot is what we call ‘wisdom of the crowds’ so when we look at a player we spend a lot of time actually speaking to the fans of the club where the player plays, we look at the fans forum online. If 2,000 fans have seen this player 50 times each and there is a pattern in what they describe that’s very valuable information and that’s also about creating a bigger sample to get your information from”.

Does that mean, the GPG is also scrutinised for our opinions on players, whether the current squad or potential ones?

Therefore, does the "collective wisdom of the GPG" have any influence in any small way whatsoever on whether existing players fit in or not, and how well they are doing, or good potential players elsewhere?

Or are we just so much hot air in the passing breeze?

Interesting!

Wouldn't surprise me - and possibly other clubs read it for the same info as well.

Not everyone would agree about a certain player, but by reading these or other forums you would get a reasonable idea about how fans perceive a player. It's not so different to reading reviews we might do before making a purchase. It's certainly not a resource to be overlooked.

Rasmus Ankersen

Yes. And then they see the endless discussion on bringing back a badge that was around before most fans were born and think, errr never mind ?

Rasmus Ankersen

Collectively fans know a lot more than we’re often given credit for !! Whilst I hate to mention the name Ron Noades always said the first thing he did if he was scouting a player was to go on the terraces and ask the fans ! Not quite as scientific as our current methods but I reckon if you asked a cross section of 10 Bees fans their opinion of any player you’d collectively get a very accurate analysis.
Similarly it does make me laugh when so called expert pundits dismiss fans views of teams or managers , a good example currently is Bruce at Newcastle who always seems to get supported by the experts but any fan who watches his teams play would tell you a very different story !

Rasmus Ankersen

Maybe we need to be careful about what we say. I wonder if this could really be a useful gauge when you consider how much grief Sergi got after his comeback. Also Mathias went through the wringer.

After all that Sergi hits top form including a brilliant hattrick and Mathias gets MOM plaudits . How could you trust us lot ;)

Maybe we should slag them all of then.

This was mentioned my Matthew in his first interview with the GPG who knows how many years ok. So nothing new here!

Rasmus Ankersen

Well they obvious dont take any notice of what a lot of fans say on here or think you all talk b******s because Josh Mac, Marcondes, Canos, Maupay, Watkins etc all get or got plenty of game time ;)

Rasmus Ankersen

The Wisdom of Crowds by James Surowiecki is an informative read, expanding on Frances Galton's Village Fête observation that the average of all the independent estimates of the weight of a cow was often the closest measure to the actual.

A sensible approach, gather as many independent views together, and a general consensus will become apparent, we then know whether to buy the cow or not.

I have stressed the independent bit, because that is the key to the information gathering. Bring a group together and biases will interact and sway the outcome towards subjective pish. We are all individuals and all that

:sorted:?

Not sure about that. Talking to a broad spectrum of fans is different to listening to the same loudmouths who gob off on here halfway through a game slagging off a player and then going awfully quiet once the target of their ire scores an absolute screamer to win the match - and then have the cojones to act all defensive and claim that people who support the team are in some mystical ‘rose-tinted brigade’. :sueme:

I would say this website on the main is 85% RTB. I know Im mostly the most hated on here because I have different views to them and get a lot of abuse from them. I go over the top a little to much in the transfer window and I know it. But at the end of the day I want Brentford to win every game.

Can we please bin the RYB abbreviation and use GBTBTTAT instead?

(Get Behind The Boys Through Thick And Thin)

Rasmus Ankersen

I'm sure those who scout opposition fans views are wise enough to ignore those who seem unreasonable. It's not hard to identify the more well reasoned posts.

Anyway I agree with Rasmus, fans are invaluable in providing information. We've effectively scouted all of Brentford's players from the moment they've signed, and openly provide our opinions here. Same goes for other fans. You'd be a fool to ignore a resource like that.

(P.S. I've never understood why people jump on Magicbees back. So what if he's asking for a new striker or not. It's not unreasonable to want a deeper squad even if I prefer a slightly leaner one).

Rasmus Ankersen

If we get to excited about this everyone , post masks , will be putting their hands in front of their mouths , like tennis players , so nobody call lip read that we think Toney is alright as a striker.

Rasmus Ankersen

people keep taking our players hoping they will enjoy the same success but surely a day comes when they want rasmus or giles/ or both

He also went on to call us thick prats, but that is for another thread.

We all want what is best for Brentford FC, we just go about it in different ways.

Nobody hates you fella. Anybody that says they do are idiots.

I must admit, I dont always agree with you but your views come from the heart, that's pretty clear.

I think the message board wouldn't be the same without you.

How will any club be able to offer the unique position that PG has or the unique position that RA has?

Rasmus Ankersen

Ankersen and Giles are great but they are both replaceable. It is Benham who is irreplaceable.

... and he has a plan to remove himself from that position. How many club owners have that?

Magic no one hates you. I certainly dont. In fact I look forward to your reappearance each transfer window. It Mark's the changing of the seasons. Take care.

Rasmus Ankersen

It is not just about money or sustainability though, other clubs have that too. He is irreplaceable because of the club philosophy that he sets from the top down and because of the data analytics resources that he gives us access too.

Rasmus Ankersen

And how will they get on when they don't have access to MB's data base?

I don't think anyone that leaves us can replicate what we have, due to the unique nature of MB's business.

Rasmus Ankersen

Does he? Please share.
He's always said that he wants the club to be sustainable without his funding. He brings four primary things to the Club – his cash, Smartodds' resources, his strategy to achieve sustainability and his vision of how a football club must be run. If he can remove his loans while meeting the sustainability objectives, then it is the vision, supported by the analytics, that needs to be retained, those don't necessarily need his hands-on involvement but almost certainly requires his oversight, or another with the same vision to maintain.

Of course, any new owner can screw the whole thing up, that's different.

I'm not so sure. If Phil left we would be f***ed for a while. Rasmus can go now and there would be no change in the club's operations.

Interesting but I would bet on Rasmus being the first one to get poached. More glamorous and more of a self publicist.

Isn't Phil a West Ham fan ?
I'm sure if they put in a decent offer, with the appropriate compensation package and resettlement bonus he'd take a look at the East London club and say "no thanks..."

Good post - I guess the last part is always a possibility. A successful business has been built with a new stadium within a stones throw of Kew Bridge. If we continue making progress and become a successful PL club with continued commercial potential then it doesn't take a genuis to work out we could become very lucative to a very rich person/group. New money doesn't always guarantee success, I'd rather keep our model but I guess if an eye watering offer came in to buy Brentford FC with big profits for the owner we couldn't argue if it was sold in the next decade.

It's in our great interest that MB's businesses remain profitable on a large T/O, so the thought of selling up never raises its head. Given his well-documented connection with the Club, he's not too likely to get bored with it as it's not really his plaything, like so many owners.

He’s very deeply embedded in the FCM/Brentford organisation having been there pre-Benham. I’d expect MB to move on before him!

True I 100% agree. I'm not naive though, Brentford's business journey the last decade has been remarkable. Forget the football side of it which is obvious but the whole professionalism and building of the business is a perfect example to any inspiring business person. Ultimately whilst he loves Brentford and has a genuine interest in the club he is a very intelligient businessman and the way we're going and with our location one can only imagine what the business could be worth in the next decade, there could potentially be huge profits there despite how his other business profile is performing.

I think Phil Wall was the West Ham fan.
