Much as i'd like to say we are going to stay up, i think we are up s**t creek without a paddle. No money, lower gates and signing players off are relegation rivals it does'nt look good. Hopefully i'm wrong but this is the worst Brentford team ii've seen in years. At least in wally's team we had hunt, sonko and Tabb. I cant see anyone lifting us out of this. I don't doubt the effort, just the ability.

regrettably witoiut a minor miracle then we are down, but good news if other teams sell their assets off in Jan for a few quid (a la Rotherham and Hoskins for eg) and confidence dips for them, the divison is POOR this year and string a few results together and we could move away from danger by end Feb

Last June I said we would get relegated, nothing since has changed my mind.
Employing Leroy was nothing short of a disaster. If Fitz can pull us out of this then it's hats off to him. We are now chucking money at loan players in a bid to stay in this division. This is something Leroy should have done in the close season. If we fail then thats more dough down the swaney. Again we have failed in this department, we need someone that can score goals. Our gates have fallen sharply as I predicted, we have loyal fans that will support us through thick and thin, but like all clubs we have to rely on the floating fan. They want to see a game of football, not the rubbish that we have served up this season. The outlook is very bleak.

We need to put a run of wins together! The bottom 7 are all vunerable (and it may be that teams like Brighton and Huddersfield might get drawn in) and any of those who put a run together will climb to safety. So, we must get into a habit of winning games and hope that at least 4 of that group do not.

With the type of team that Fitz seems to be building, we may have a chance. From his start, he showed clearly, through his selections, that "pretty" players were not his style; you win by "outgrafting" your opponents. He also has played a 4-4-2 (or 4-4-1-1) formation and put in squad players out of position to do the jobs. The players he has brought in fit the 'classic' roles in that formation; he has got in players for specific roles in specific positions and those others that don't 'fit' (either through role or application) have been cast aside. I believe that succesful teams at our level have a clear formation and get the best players they can afford to fit the positions. Leroy bought a lot of "pretty" players but there was no clear structure.

Conclusion, I am an optimist!

Are we going down? Yes. Part of me thinks it would be easier to keep losing just to get it over with. Knowing Brentford, we'll win the odd game to keep giving us hope before dashing it every time.

I'm sure Fitz is looking for a forward, but about 91 other managers are too. A proven goalscorer is hard to find and expensive. I actually disagree with the post above about the priority in the transfer window being a striker - what we've lacked all season is a midfield.

On this board, when we concede goals it's the defence's fault, while our lack of goals is down to the strikers. I think both are down to the midfield, and this is where Leroy killed us. He signed ineffective forwards and wide men, and no ballwinner for the middle. If the centre midfielders are doing their job, the defence is protected and the forwards get chances. Jo has proved he can put away chances if you give them to him. Most of our defenders are solid lower league pros (if not the quickest). Maybe with Leary (and Hunt if we can get him) the midfield will improve and things might change.

But, it's too late for this season. Leroy has to take the blame, how he recruited so poorly then coached all the fight out of the players I'll never know. Nice guy but shocking manager.

Still think Fitz could make it as a manager longer term though, despite the dodgy start.

We don't seem to have made any perceptable improvement, and still can't score, how can we hope to survive.

JK was our best player today & probably has been this season.

Unfortunately he is the scorer of good goals rather than a goalscorer. Today the ball bounced around their box on a number of occasions but no one was sharp enough to 'sniff' it out. He is also asked to play on the left wing where he is like a fish out of water.

We are down - let's face it - & tbh unless any players we sign are players who will make a significant difference we should not bother. Imo only Partridge today added anything to what we already have, & given Charles performance at Swansea, it was not a particularly significant difference.

I struggle to understand why people expected us suddenly to do a Macclesfield and take 17 points out of a possible 21. Nice guy he may have been, but LR assembled a truely awful squad and then presided over some of the worst displays that I have seen in my 20 years of following the Bees.

We undoubtedly require more firepower, but for the first time in many games, I went home today thinking that we were very unlucky not to have taken something from the game. If Fitz can bring in another striker then it's still not too late to mount a late challenge for survival.

Regardless of the above spiel, I haven't missed a home or away game this year and if I refuse to resign myself to relegation before it is mathematically impossible to avoid it. Why else would I trapse around the countryside to watch my team if I wasn't an eternal optimist ?

I see no benefit in getting angry and slating the players or bemoaning the quality of off-field management. Whilst I may wish for an improved performance from the players, or for the directors to have decided not to appoint LR etc, etc, etc, everyone of them, directors, players, Fitz, are doing jobs that I couldn't do myself.

Positions such as the one we currently find ourselves in are part and parcel of being a supporter of a lower league club. Anyone can go and support a big Premiership Club, that's easy, but what we do is bloody hard, it takes real gutts to deal with the lows that we've had to experience over the years. Fact is though, we've always come through it. Things may seem bad at the moment but they'll get better, I'm sure of it.

Yes in theory its too early to say were down but just look at the reality of our situation - Brentford goals are as as rare as Tony Blair apologies.

I fear for next (4th division) season, reduced gates but existing / static running costs. We must get rid of the expensive dross or start to imagine the unimaginable - selling GP because we have no choice if our creditors call time. Don't delude yourself to think that couldnt happen in two years or so because I assure you it could.

We are effectively down - just look at the maths. 19 games to go - at least 30 points needed.

This could be 10 wins, 8 wins 6 draws 5 defeats, or any other combination you like. Of course it's mathematically possible but in reality ....

If we had put together a plan last June to get us relegated I don't think we could come up anything better than what we've achieved. The final straw for me was sacking LR too late without any sort of plan for a replacement manager. Any firm replacement, even SF, would hopefully have been able to sign a couple of loan players to give us a chance of getting some extra points in December. As it is we pretty well 'wrote off' that month & we now need a miracle.

I am not as sanguine as many about our 3 new signings (4 if you include Abbey) and, imo, SF will have to come up with a couple of real 'jewels' to effect the turnaround we need now.

A more likely outcome is that, at some point & probably when all is lost, we will have a miniature revival, which will keep SF in his job for next season. That will probably leave us with the likelihood of mid-table obscurity in the 4th Division.

Of course I hope I'm wrong, & I'll certainly be there watching, like others, whenever I can - let's face it, it's what we do isn't it?
