Looking at that bench Saturday I don’t see a way he’d have made the squad even if he was fit anyway. As much as I love him and wish he could stay forever, barring an injury to KLP or Diouf I wouldn’t be surprised to see him depart in January - just don’t see any way he plays.

Sad to see the way he is drifting away. I suspect we will have an emotional farewell at some point a la Ethan P, as Rico goes on to play against us for another EPL club for a few years.

seeing your comment got me thinking that considering at one time he was arguably, at least amongst our circles, the most likely to in contention for an England place, now representing Jamaica, it must be hard for him to define his career thus far. Synonymous with all our accomplishments, through injury and no fault of his own finds himself somewhat in limbo. Need to remember too we’re not talking Ethan’s age, he’s only 29.From club legend to forgotten man.
I just hope if the next few years don’t amount to what his career thus far has promised, and considering what others such as David have gone on to achieve, that he doesn’t find himself reflecting upon it too harshly

Maybe he had a headache or trod a piece of lego. Has anyone asked them? Do we really expect hourly updates on a player who isn't in the first team any more and has literally not made the bench for 1 game?

He’ll be in the squad v Sunderland on Wednesday. Who does he force out of a premier league squad now that VDB is back from injury, Hickey and Diouf are proving more than useful and Schuster has arrived? None, surely?

After his standout performance at CB against Reading hopefully he'll play some part at Sunderland.
Always been my favourite player along with Sergi since we became PL, will be sad if he goes.

Hickey’s versatility as left back, right back, centre back and holding midfielder sees him above Rico in the pecking order. Same for KLP.
Rico is a one position man which is going to restrict his involvement unless there are a couple of injuries.
But the nature and intensity of the premier league means we could easily be sat here in mid December with Rico our starting left back!

I doubt we would have signed Diouf if we saw Henry as a long term left back. Obviously a series of injuries might present a pathway back for him but atm it looks increasingly like his future lies elsewhere.

I thought he was well dodgy at CB, his positional sense was all over the shop, he got MOTM because he made 2-3 typical Rico last minute interception and tackles. He is still one of the best left backs around and will play 2-3 more years at this level, probably elsewhere because we have moved on during his injury time outs. But I don't want to see him at CB any more, particularly against that bunch of thugs up there.

Sadly, truth is that he’s not even our second choice LB any more. Out of contract next summer, but if he is fit i’d really not be surprised if he is moved on in January.
I hope he gets a chance to play for us a few more times, but seemingly he’s out for a few games at least so we probably won’t see him until after the international break.

His time is coming to an end whether that be Jan or end of season remains to be seen I suspect. A brilliant signing but too many injuries have blighted his career which is a shame. As was said right at the start, the poor bloke was and still is prone to injury of one sort or another. Fabulous player when fit and there have been long periods where he has been so, just in case there are any spies considering a transfer bid.
