Robert Taylor

Robert Taylor

What a class act Taylor was. A true footballer. His first touch and intelligent link play plus his goals.Hope people remember just how good he was:)

Alan Connell has got a touch of the Robert Taylor about him.

Robert Taylor

Oooo Bobby Taylor, Oooo Bobby Taylor, Ooo Bobby Taylor.....

Robert Taylor

Remember when we invested in promising young players who would shine and develop with us and then we could sell then on at a profit - Bob Taylor, Nicky Forster, Sam Sodje DJ, Michael Turner.......

Robert Taylor

Taylor by joining Man City finished him... wierd

Alan Connell, Nathan Elder, Gary Smith, Ryan Dickson...............hopefully all will reach the heights of the aforementioned !!

Robert Taylor

Never had the pace for a higher level.

He didn't need it. Injuries finished him, not his pace. I could watch his lobs over goalkeepers over and over and over again. What a dreamboat. :love2:

Easy to say with hindsight, but you have no idea which of the "promising young players" we are currently investing in will "shine and develop with us and be sold on at a profit."

Robert Taylor

Teddy Sheringham had no more pace than Taylor. As markbfc says, it was injuries that curtailed Robert Taylor's career.

Robert Taylor wasn't Teddy Sheringham.

Robert Taylor

No - but you said it was Taylor's lack of pace that held him back and I disagree, citing Sheringham as an example of a player whose lack of pace didn't hold him back.

I don't want to argue about such a great player but I think that it's a wrong comparison. Taylor would have been snapped up much earlier - and would have had far more impact - if he'd been quicker. That's the reason why Forster left first and Taylor didn't - Taylor was the better footballer but his lack of pace was the thing that held him back. Sheringham was something completely different altogether.

IMO. :)

Robert Taylor

Great guy as well as a great player.

Still don't know how he missed that chance at Huddersfield in the play offs.

Robert Taylor

The figure I remembered was £400,000 but maybe it was £1/2 million. Definitely had a year left on his contract when we sold him to Gillingham.

Robert Taylor

ooooh bobby taylor
ooooh bobby taylor
ooooh bobby taylor in the back of the net
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaah.

They don't make chants like that anymore!

Robert Taylor

Never forget his goal in the 6-0 win vs Cambridge in 1995. What judgement and skill.

Robert Taylor

Has been appointed manager of Diss Town.

Diss Town - horrible place. It's becoming like a ghost town, there were a few decent clubs but they've all shut down because of the amount of trouble. I think they blame the government for not doing enough for the kids and it sounds to me like people are getting angry now.

Robert Taylor

Has been appointed manager of Diss Town.

Hes just been called into the chairman's office and given the sack. He was told 'Diss Town ain't big enough for the both of us'

Robert Taylor

:sorted: :D

1st time something on here has made me laugh, for months! :D

Robert Taylor

Great player - those were the days

Didd he ever get in the PFA Division Team like Craig Pead?

Robert Taylor

Great player, but I still don't know to this day how he missed from within the 6 yard box at Huddersfield in the play off's.

Was it just the one miss or do I remember there being another? Never forget how gutted he looked at the end. :(

Robert Taylor

Taylor did miss a few that day :(

Robert Taylor

I can still see that miss clear as day  Worse than the trolleys against QPR for defining our clubs history  Always the stinky, alcoholic, leachorous unwanted uncle, never the bride :(
