If we let Ryan Dickson go then it would truly be one of the worst things that could happen to the team this season.

He is IMO one of our very best players. If someone goes for a stack of money one day surely it will him. This is not a reaction to one cross versus southampton by the way, I kept saying it last year to anyone who was interested.

I would swap him tomorrow for a 'creative' left sided midfielder, who could 'beat his man' and 'deliver' a 'killer' cross. Maybe somewhere in a big 'game' like Southampton away.

Lets sell him for two new proper strikers.

Are we selling him for 2 new strikers or a match winning left winger ?
I am confused.
And when we do, who will play left back ?
Answer on my desk by 9am please.

lol I think this was a slightly sick attempt at sarcasm?

His defensive play seems to have improved this season. He always had the ability to link well in attack, but at times seemed naive if defence - he's now getting in some excellent tackles and interceptions and looking a very good player

Saw the goal on the BBC website last night.

How Pardew has the nerve to say he got lucky shows what clueless, classless git he really is.

Quality and the finish wasn't too shabby either

big test this weekend against Taylor of Oldham.

Isn't this the chap that Leeds are sniffing around at the moment ? Apparently set to offer £500k for him according to today's Daily Star. With any luck, they'll withdraw him from this weekend's squad whilst they thrash out a deal.

Pardew will say any sh*te to cover his own shortcomings and those of his team. It probably felt like a loss to them, and his words were those of a bad loser. But I don't see how suggesting that Dickson was lucky rather than brilliant helps to alter the perception that Soton are anything other than sh*te at the moment. If I was the manager, I would be falling over myself to stress that my team were beaten by a moment of outstanding skill.

Pardew must be a worried man anyway. He is in his last job in football at a decent sized club unless things change.

For me personally being of a similar bent as a playing left back I like to see a team with attacking overlapping full backs who are fit, strong and get get to the byeline and either get crosses in or support the winger so the right back is swamped.

Dicko does that.

In his heyday and back when there were a few PRemiership scouts allegedly looking at him Micheal Dobson also did this...and was allowed to by the team tactics at the time.

I never saw a fullback get forward in Martin Allens tenure. This is another reason why I think Andy Scott is suceeding. Attacking full backs. Marvellous.

Woody looked a bit shaky against Oldham in the first half.
Hope Dicko is back for the Charlton game.

I'd heard we were selling him. I assume from the comments on this thread that this rumour was b***ocks and he is in fact injured?

It's bollox and he picked up an injury at Southampton.

AS said in the interview with BBC London that he was injured in the first half at Southampton and 'we can't risk him' at the moment. It's a knee injury. I would venture a guess that a ligament may be involved.

Thanks abee, I hope it's not too serious.

I think you can probably understand why people are concerned, particularly after Nathan's 'knock' earlier in the season. A likely xfer before the deadline was my immediate thought as Dickson is a superb player & could be worth a lot of money to the club. Glad to see that we will hopefully be seeing him at Brentford for a little while longer.

Utter bullshit no doubt. However, every player has their price. See Cristiano Ronaldo.

Thanks abee, just got a text message from my lad (I'm in Hong Kong at the moment) saying that some GPGers had said he was going to Leeds and my immediate reaction was "why the Benham deal then?", now I realise it was one goof trying to put 2 and 2 together and getting anyother number than 4
He is probably our biggest asset but as AS is set on promotion this season and the MB deal being done it would have been a shame to seeing someone with a new contract being sold. See ya Leeds:wave:

He was at the game yesterday in bees training gear. Asked him after the match and he said he was injured. Couple with what abee has said, he isn't going anywhere!
If he was, why would he still be sitting at GP?

There was a BFC board meeting on Thursday where we were told by AS that RD had picked up an injury at Soton and would not be available for selection against Oldham. I assume that AS didn't want this to get out before 2.30pm on Saturday in case it changed Oldham's game plan. Dave Penney, Oldham manager is an admirer of Dickson and he tried to sign him when he was managing Darlington. He would then I suppose have had to re-think when the Brentford team sheet was handed in and figure out who was likely to be playing on our left hand side.

So, seeing as your post has been thoroughly trashed, care to name your source ?
Your dj comment just underlines how much you understand about football.

Judging by your start date, are you from the disemboweled RIVALS site?

Beardy Jeff and his dwarf were far more fun.
