I'd position O'Connor as a defensive midfielder...
Have to agree with you, what happens if Baines signs for Man U on transfer deadline day and everton haven't got time to react. We would have wasted the whole summer waiting for bidwell, we should have had a deadline for Bidwell then moved on.
Not first choice i hope.
Actually, I think Kev was sorely missed last season; his ability to cover defenders allows the full backs (plural, assuming we have a left back) to get forward with the confidence that he will fill in.
Kev is one of our best players and one of the best captains I have ever seen in a Bees shirt.
Good servent to the club and a decent enough player, but one of our best players ever is a bit far.
Who said that ?

Regardless of what we think about his ability he's the captain. He's gonna play.
you said he was one of the best players you had seen in a brentford shirt. Anyway lets agree to differ with KOC.
He is Club Captain just as he was last year and we also had a couple of team captains named. I suspect KOC will be a bit part player. I don't see him as getting game at full back as he can't play the wing back role and we have several other options in midfield. Can see Craig getting the Team Captain role when KOC isn't on the pitch. I hope so anyway as Goalkeeper Captains don't work for me - you need to be in the thick of the action.
You must be very young then

No I didn't? I said he was one of our best players, as in at the moment. I did say he was one of the best captains I had seen in a Bees shirt.
Edit: I can see how the wording in my original posting led you to believe that. Apologies.
I don't see what the problem is? We've signed a player who obviously UR rates as he says he's been watching him for some time. UR wouldn't of brought in a player on a season long loan if he didn't think he needed him. The guy no's what he's doing. He will left enough room in the budget to bring in the players in the positions he wants to. I think we need to put a little faith into our manager
What happens in Baines leaves right on deadline day and we are waiting up to then to sign him? There are 92 league clubs and I am sure somewhere there is a LB that could do a job for us. You have your opinion which is fine by me and I have mine but as far as I am concerned this is a failure just as it was last season not to have sorted out the striker situation so I guess we can agree to differ.
Personally I would have preferred a midfielder to come in, as we haven't really added quality to that area and replaced Bean (Forshaw isn't quite at the required level yet for our ambitions IMO). I think this signing means that O'Connor will be seen more as that extra midfielder than as back-up right-back (how I would have used him), which Fredericks will cover. So in terms of squad depth, it's a good signing and I'm sure he will be a decent player for us, but I hope that players such as Reeves and Forshaw are ready to play consistently at a high standard.
Obviously we still need a left-back and a striker, but at least we can play Logan/Craig/Redwood at left-back and know we have cover in the other defensive positions for now.
welcome to the club ryan hopefully will be a good squad player, not sure we needed another right back with logan,o'connor, and dean who can all play right back.

I agree with you 100% hardybee. I honestly think our main problem will come in about 9 months after Uwe has got us into the Championship. The problem will be , can we hold on to him when bigger clubs start sniffing around. I've said it before. Mr Rossler could well turn out to be our finest signing.
Some mad comments on here - underwhelmed by a young full back on loan who we've never heard of. In other news, anxiety grows as we fail to sign the last young full back we'd never heard of.
You won't see Dean play at RB once this season, and Uwe is making as sure as possible that you won't see Kev play there either.
What position is KOC playing in today?
Harsh to judge him on a cameo role today, he will need more training with the squad and how we play.
He's quick though..
Didn't he get on the bench for Spurs last season ? Big surprise to hear he was so bad.A very well respected poster on here rung me after the game and we went through what we'd seen, he suggested that if this was a trial, we would have sent him straight back without a second go, it was a short time but if there was a thread for worst debut ever, I'd be posting in it today. I know people will post, hold on etc etc, he had 15 minutes and I know it's true but it had to be seen to be believed, I remember the dwarf man from Spurs we had a season or two ago who looked strange on his debut, this was worse. Things can only get better!
Perhaps because he only signed yesterday and possibly only knew his team mates for a few hours before playing ?
I know we all wanted a magic, Bostock, Berahino like debut but lets give the guy a chance before the witch hunt begins.
Your first line says it all, why the feck did he come on when we had 7 on the bench and 6 of them had done a pre-season with us. Like I say. you had to see it to appreciate that I'm not "witch hunting" but doing what I do, type what I saw. I blame Rosler for his "strange" little show yesterday as he wasn't anywhere near ready.
