Let hope young Ryan isn't the last midfielder signing as will still havent got a defensive midfielder.

Ryan Fredericks

I'd position O'Connor as a defensive midfielder...

Ryan Fredericks

Have to agree with you, what happens if Baines signs for Man U on transfer deadline day and everton haven't got time to react. We would have wasted the whole summer waiting for bidwell, we should have had a deadline for Bidwell then moved on.

If the trialist hadnt torn his hammy against Wycombe we'd be well sorted now.Plus the possibility of Biddy joining end of the month things looked rosy

Ryan Fredericks

Actually, I think Kev was sorely missed last season; his ability to cover defenders allows the full backs (plural, assuming we have a left back) to get forward with the confidence that he will fill in.

I don't see where he fits in, we have many midfielders and different permutations available, it appears that Douglas is in with another or maybe two others but cramming in KOC with the others doesn't inspire me.

Ryan Fredericks

Doesnt any one know a Spuds fan that isnt a Prem Billy Bollox and actually knows his club to see if they have a view on Ryan ?

Ryan Fredericks

Yes, my Spurs supporting mate says he's one for the future, needs games to prove his value to a side.
He's got it all but needs some experience week in, week out.

Ryan Fredericks

Kev is one of our best players and one of the best captains I have ever seen in a Bees shirt.

Good servent to the club and a decent enough player, but one of our best players ever is a bit far.

Ryan Fredericks

I don't see what the problem is? We've signed a player who obviously UR rates as he says he's been watching him for some time. UR wouldn't of brought in a player on a season long loan if he didn't think he needed him. The guy no's what he's doing. He will left enough room in the budget to bring in the players in the positions he wants to. I think we need to put a little faith into our manager

Ryan Fredericks

Regardless of what we think about his ability he's the captain. He's gonna play.

Ryan Fredericks

Signing makes sense. Clear that we intend to play without wingers so pacy wing backs are part of the plan. Also clear that Uwe has misgivings about Logan so options in that position are needed. Yes, we need a Left Back also but signing a Right Back doesn't mean we won't get a LB also although we may still hold out for Bidwell if it doesn't mean too long a wait.

Good signing for me.

Ryan Fredericks

He is Club Captain just as he was last year and we also had a couple of team captains named. I suspect KOC will be a bit part player. I don't see him as getting game at full back as he can't play the wing back role and we have several other options in midfield. Can see Craig getting the Team Captain role when KOC isn't on the pitch. I hope so anyway as Goalkeeper Captains don't work for me - you need to be in the thick of the action.

Ryan Fredericks

Your hoping to unearth some rising star but I can understand people who are underwhelmed, on paper similar to Nathan Byrne and i thought he looked out of his depth and League 1 football a culture shock. Spurs development squad never strikes me as an ideal place to pluck a player from and stick him into League 1 but hope this one is different.

Ryan Fredericks

you said he was one of the best players you had seen in a brentford shirt. Anyway lets agree to differ with KOC.

No I didn't? I said he was one of our best players, as in at the moment. I did say he was one of the best captains I had seen in a Bees shirt.

Edit: I can see how the wording in my original posting led you to believe that. Apologies.

He captained in every game he played last year. He is the captain full stop and atm hasn't has any vice captains announced.

Ryan Fredericks

You must be very young then

In relation to most on here... yes very :D. Paul Evans would be up there to as one of the best captains I have seen to. But I have only been watching Brentford since around 95 but I have to admit I didn't know much about football when I was 5 so my opinion only really counts post 2000. Just to clarify I wasn't saying he was one of the best players I had ever seen!

Ryan Fredericks

.................welcome aboard Bryan..............

He might be a solid Div One player, but I'm not sure he's going to get you out of this division and into the Championship.

Ryan Fredericks

We've loaned in a promising youngster from a top club, sounds sensible enough to me, why all the whingeing?

No need to apologies, there your view and its a forum, would be a boring website if we all agreed.

I think once KOC gets back to full fitness (UR said it may take a month or two) he will silence his doubters as he always has done. I think experience was something we lacked most of last season and this is something he provides a great wealth of. He is more than comfortable on the ball, reads the game better than any others in our squad and I can see him filling the holding role allowing Douglas to sit further forward in the diamond formation and give our midfield a more solid feel to it in the centre. But then again this is all personal opinion and it's down to Kev to show us either way on the pitch.

Ryan Fredericks

Personally I would have preferred a midfielder to come in, as we haven't really added quality to that area and replaced Bean (Forshaw isn't quite at the required level yet for our ambitions IMO). I think this signing means that O'Connor will be seen more as that extra midfielder than as back-up right-back (how I would have used him), which Fredericks will cover. So in terms of squad depth, it's a good signing and I'm sure he will be a decent player for us, but I hope that players such as Reeves and Forshaw are ready to play consistently at a high standard.

Obviously we still need a left-back and a striker, but at least we can play Logan/Craig/Redwood at left-back and know we have cover in the other defensive positions for now.

Ryan Fredericks

What happens in Baines leaves right on deadline day and we are waiting up to then to sign him? There are 92 league clubs and I am sure somewhere there is a LB that could do a job for us. You have your opinion which is fine by me and I have mine but as far as I am concerned this is a failure just as it was last season not to have sorted out the striker situation so I guess we can agree to differ.

I think the loan window opens a week after the transfer window shuts? So we will pick up plan B the following week if Bidwell is stopped from leaving?!

Has anyone considered this man may be the reason Logan was not offered a deal straight away at the end of last season? If we have been watching him for a while, maybe Uwe thinks he can be a great wing back? Could even be that Logan will play second fiddle to him?!

Fail to see any negative in this signning, the chance came now, we took it! The striker and left back will come, time is all it takes!!

Agreed we are missing either a creative midfield general or a real box to box driving midfielder.

Ryan Fredericks

welcome to the club ryan hopefully will be a good squad player, not sure we needed another right back with logan,o'connor, and dean who can all play right back.
Hopefully we will sign a left back soon.

Ryan Fredericks

Some mad comments on here - underwhelmed by a young full back on loan who we've never heard of. In other news, anxiety grows as we fail to sign the last young full back we'd never heard of.

Ryan Fredericks

Welcome Ryan, enjoy the ride, ignore the doubters.

Ryan Fredericks

Wooburn Bee - creative midfield general are hard to find. I personally still think Reeves does a bit of this when allowed to sign

Uwe talked of the need for a box to box player at fans forum so suspect he is on the list

Ryan Fredericks

We've got a young top six Premiership player who's been on the verge of their first team .Last season we had on loan a player who couldnt get into Celtics team , a club which would flounder in the Premiership.
Feck the LB from Barca , the 30 goals a season striker , a midfielder who's in every bodys box ,these will follow ,Uwe is not a dick head .I reckon we've got a gem this season which may take turn the odd 1 point into 3 .

You won't see Dean play at RB once this season, and Uwe is making as sure as possible that you won't see Kev play there either.

It's pretty straight forward that we are waiting to see if Baines moves from Everton; I still think it's likely that we'll see Bidwell here during the first week of September.

I agree with you 100% hardybee. I honestly think our main problem will come in about 9 months after Uwe has got us into the Championship. The problem will be , can we hold on to him when bigger clubs start sniffing around. I've said it before. Mr Rossler could well turn out to be our finest signing.

The optimist in me wants to agree, the realist in me would be staggered if Mr Rossler (sic) turns out to be our finest signing, I just can't in all honesty see what promotes such a sentiment - sincerely hope i'm wrong though and will happily eat my words/hat and anything else necessary if we were to go up this or next year.

What position is KOC playing in today?

Ryan Fredericks

Sadly he failed to impress me today. For the short time he was on the pitch he seemed hesitant and lightweight.

Ryan Fredericks

Harsh to judge him on a cameo role today, he will need more training with the squad and how we play.

He's quick though..

Ryan Fredericks

A very well respected poster on here rung me after the game and we went through what we'd seen, he suggested that if this was a trial, we would have sent him straight back without a second go, it was a short time but if there was a thread for worst debut ever, I'd be posting in it today. I know people will post, hold on etc etc, he had 15 minutes and I know it's true but it had to be seen to be believed, I remember the dwarf man from Spurs we had a season or two ago who looked strange on his debut, this was worse. Things can only get better!

Didn't he get on the bench for Spurs last season ? Big surprise to hear he was so bad.

Ryan Fredericks

Perhaps because he only signed yesterday and possibly only knew his team mates for a few hours before playing ?
I know we all wanted a magic, Bostock, Berahino like debut but lets give the guy a chance before the witch hunt begins.

Your first line says it all, why the feck did he come on when we had 7 on the bench and 6 of them had done a pre-season with us. Like I say. you had to see it to appreciate that I'm not "witch hunting" but doing what I do, type what I saw. I blame Rosler for his "strange" little show yesterday as he wasn't anywhere near ready.

Agreed. And it wasn't like Logan was playing badly anyway second half.

Ryan Fredericks

Then why blame the player, as some earlier posters were doing ?
