Ryan Peters

Ryan Peters

Can anyone state what his "best" position is? I've seen (like most of us) very little of his play, he is usually played as a winger and he seems to have some pace about him. He does not seem to have much trickery (perhaps our friend PB need to give him some coaching ) and he does not seem able to put in a cross or aim a ball on target.

Personally, I've not seen any reason to keep him, although the staff must think there may be something there. Rather like Tomlin last season; what's he for?

I think this is the main problem. Does anyone know what his best position is?

Ryan Peters

I always remember Peters coming into the squad initially as a young striker who scored goals in the reserves, I might be wrong. Then he was suddenly coming on for the last few minutes of games being used as a right winger.

Ryan Peters

RP's position is CF, but every time he's put on the pitch in that position he keeps coming back into midfield to collect the ball. Maybe if he stayed up in the last third a bit more alongside the other striker instead of coming back and then trying to beat 4 defenders he might be a bit more successful.

Ryan Peters

well if you dont agree with me now f off PETERS OUT:sorted:
Look, the kid may not be the best in the world, but to tell him to f off just shows you up, frankly. If you want to support a team that only has superstars in it and who earn enough to have to take such abuse from the supporters, then can I suggest Chelsea to you?

Ryan Peters

you watch him on tuesday if he comes on. u will see again and again what i mean. he is utter c??p he will prob score now lol

Ryan Peters

Look, get behind this lad as his wage is an absolute pittance, believe me.I would rather support a home grown lad with hunger and fire in his belly with a point to prove following a bad injury then a club hopping parasite seeing his career out on a fat wage.

Ryan Peters

Sorry il give it ago on tuesday but i dont think ill change my mind every time i see him come on my heart sinks:sad:

oh another thing, Peters has played under Allen, Leroy, Fitzs, Quin and now TB.... maybe the boy is unsettled... now please shut up:wave:

Ryan Peters

just watch against chelsea i bet he fs it up

Ryan Peters

Plenty of chances - not taken.

It doesn't matter whether he's on £200/week or £2000/week, he is not good enough.

Ryan Peters

Having just read this thread, I gotta' ask: This has got to be personal. Did Ryan not sign your shirt once or something? Surely, a kid who has not yet lived up to his potential but is still a teenager can't make you this angry.

It's not fair to blame Peters for his lack of ability, blame to person who selects him, and more importantly the person who selected him ?. Fact is our player selection criteria is not based on how good they are it's how cheap they are, and it seems all the best trialists we've had are signing for other clubs.

We're less than 2 weeks from the start of the season and the "manager" doesn't seem to have a clue of his best starting eleven...worrying !!

How do you know that the manager doesn't have a clue as to what is best starting line up is?

The fact that we haven't won a pre-season friendly and he hasn't put out the same side twice may be a clue ?

Shouldn't he be putting his starting eleven together so they may at least know each other's names before they play Mansfield ?

I would have thought that the starting XI against Reading is not far off, given that Poole, Ide and O'Connor were all unavailable. The match against Sutton was practically a reserve fixture as was Harrow. The matches against Staines and Hampton were a chance to look at a few different players and systems.

They also train together, I believe.

Ryan Peters

Damned if you do/damned if you don't. If TB was playing his 'starting 11' each match, there'd be 500 shouldbee's on here asking why, with such a weak squad, he's not giving trialists a look.

I dont think he knows himself. When he does get a gilt edged chance he fukcs it up. Chuck him out on loan.

Ryan Peters

No doubt even he was surprised when offered a new contract along with Rhodes, Dark, Charles and Osborne. I guess they are "stocking fillers" as it were so TB can actually have a 22 man squad. Can't help thinking there was a bit of signing in haste there.

I cannot see him starting many games apart from Paint Trophy type ones but he will have an opportunity to impress and if he doesn't take it likely to be loaned out to non league sooner rather than later.

Its been done to death on other threads but I really feel players like Peters suffer from not playing regular, competitive, adult football in a reserve league.

Ryan Peters

robert peters i thought at one time was a good prospect now i think he should be shiped out to clubs like staines town

Ryan Peters

Ryan Peters

just to come back to the thread ill be watching him against the blues reserves i hope he does well but i dont think it will happen

Ryan Peters

I dont know about anybody eles but peters really winds me up. How many more chances are we going to give him, all he does is bounce around the pitch missing sitters. Is he under contract with us and how much are we paying him?? I think its time to offload him to a non league club? What do we think?

1 year omg:eek:

I dont care if its 2p were paying him, get rid:rolleyes:

he is utterlly usless and thats that. i agree with don

I've never been Ryan's greatest fan but he will be a decent sub and squad player. I'm warming slightly to him and hopefully with 70 minutes on the clock he can come on and worry tired defenders and nick us a few points.

id tend to agree-maybe not at league one level but at league two he could do a job as a sub

lets hope we're right!

To nick a few points .............he has to score a few goals  not worry tired defenders  And from what he has produced so far at first team level...................no chancel lol

I hope you're right or we've pissed a few quid up the wall.

Ryan Peters

Got ability but little football brain..

TB and AS were constantly at him today.

Couple of good runs though and a shot which trickled past the post

 With his pace and if sides are wilting after 70 minutes hopefully he can make a difference.

Ryan Peters

was not at the game but i hear he missed a sitter again. i wish him well but not with this club:wave:

how the **** can you comment on him when you were not there.... GET A ****ING LIFE:wave:

if you wish him well, you are presumably hoping he improves and makes it as a good professional. in that case you are willing him to become a good player for a rival team which is somewhat strange

his chance today came after he made a good run to get into a position for a one on one. with keeper near post he correctly hit it across the goal and it narrowly missed the far post. should hit the target but the it was the right idea.

i don't think he is a great player, but he is still young, has a bit of pace (which scares people at our level) and may yet improve.

Ryan Peters

He needs to learn two simple things:

Don't just stand around when you've not got the ball;

Look around for other team members when you are in/near the box... consider passing to one of them.

That's all :fishing:

True, in fact he should learn from Ide who has learnt to do all these things, decent game from the squirrel yesterday.

Ryan Peters

To be fair, I thought Peters was one of the few positives yesterday, looked bright, lively and most importantly, a lot stronger. Actually held the ball up a lot better than either Ide or Connell, still a bit wayward with his crossing/shooting but was causing a lot of problems. Could well be a useful player to come off the bench if he can keep improving..... :sorted:

Ryan Peters

Thought he did OK when he came on, but our whole attack was very lightweight and the Saints defenders weren't giving him too hard a time

I did feel that Ide was struggling until Peters came on; the two seemed to link quite well.

Ryan Peters

well he sounds as though he still has his pace which is good, maybe just needs a goal to give him that extra boost. Judging by his inclusion in the pre season it seems AS and TB obvioulsy think his pace can bee dangerous but guessing he needs to work on his final ball delivery and his shooting.
