Just read a post from Brentford 1 whoever you are on the Millwall forum. He started a thread asking if they Want to swop regarding Barron and Craig for Osborne.Great support for our club mate glad a couple of their fans have put you in your place.

It's not me, but thinking about, I reckon that would be a decent deal for us (although it would mean that we've lost a lot of dosh).

Scott Barron

We don't because we chose to spunk the budget on a couple of players. One poor, the other average, but both I imagine, very expensive. We should not be surprised by Barron's lack of ability. Just take a look at what the Wall fans have to say about him - you won't have to search too hard. I had similar read outs from the Wall fans at work. I've seen him play twice for us and last night he fitted the description of everything I've been told/read. You can jest all you like about Baines, but we could and should have done so much better than Barron.

Seriously, lets give Barron more than one poor game before consigning him to the dustbin.
I think / hope he'll be better than Woodman.
Lets see.

Seems like a fantastic swop it would be great to have karleigh back hopefully we can give him the 3 year contract that he wanted as these millwall players seemed to get long contracts.

Morning Smudger

Woodman wasnt that bad though was he ? Steady Eadie decent defender ,a bit average who didnt bomb forward .Then comes along Biddy , too good for this league and ticks all the boxes an erect Uwe could wish for . Barron according to fans who have seen him in many games isnt that great at getting forward , shows the winger the best way to go and can get brushed over by a light wind . Shame the ex Liverpool bloke got injured in the friendly

Scott Barron

I think there's a lot of romaticsm about Biddy.
Yes a very good player.
Best Left back since Dickson and has the potential to go higher.
Could cross, pass, run and tackle comfortably in this division but still very early days in Jake's football career.

Vignal's injury record is terrible.
No more than 30 games for any of his 6 or 7 clubs.
That wouldn't fill anyone with confidence.

Some fans are judging Barron way too early and that's not helpful.
Probably the same fans who judged Osborne too early and ended up eating their insulting words.

SB out.

Thats rubbish talk about Biddy , I am hurt so I will pen a poem to him in support

You are too club positive PR and maybe a few days on the fence with a few splinters may help

KO back,no thanks. Give Barron a chance FFS. One OK. next game, not so good. He's not match fit, judge him after 8 games. He did OK in the first half against Yeovil. Not good, but OK. He wasn't the only one who underachieved against Yeovil. Wall fans are judging him on Championship standards, not L1. "Wonder what they would say about the rest of our team judged against Championship standards. Let's not kill off a player so soon, have seen it happen too many times over 33 years. Re Craig, yes one hell of cock up to provide Yeovil with their first goal, but when tracking back with one of their forwards and taking the ball of him he had time to look up and see if Moore could take the back pass rather than hoof it into row Z, haven't seen that at our level for quite some time. I've seen some overreaction on this board over the years but the crap I have read about Uwe and some of the team is amazing, to say the least. As abee used to say................ stand back and wait for the abuse !!

If I have a problem with the club, I'll write to the club, or phone them.
If I have a problem with players performances, I'll take some considered time to judge them.

I seem to recall Bidwell's debut wasn't stunning.
Way too early to tell if Bidwell will have a stunning career at any level

My feelings too SB. Barron can't 'ave played the games he has done for Millwall if he had been crap.
Let's just say it was a bad day at the office for him.

Yep indeed...

But it was the equivalent of turning up late on your first day having overslept, spilling coffee on your boss, standing up to infront of everyone to introduce yourself, stiffling a sneeze and filling your pants!

Shxt happens as they say.

So nail your colours to the mast:

Option A ; I smithy think that Barron will be a better left back than Woodman
Option B: I smithy hope that Barron will be a better left back than Woodman

Simple choice A or B. No other options permissible.

Scott Barron

My main worry about this signing is from the scouting situation,I am not sure if l assumed that Barron was recommended by Craig that would be far from the truth.Hope he turns out ok but if he doesn't he has to be put down as a bad signing something that happens at all clubs and that position could be filled by a loanee or Redwood.Charlton signed about 20 odd players last season not all of those were successfull.Really hope if he plays tommorrow he puts in a good shift as we can't afford another Tuesday night performance from him.

Bidwell will be a top level player (not wise after the event, posted that here first time I saw him play) and I firmly believe will skipper a top level team and possibly, given the usual dearth of decent left footed players in this country, may well play for the full England team. He is already far better than Dickson ever was. Give the Millwall pair time I agree but I fear both Barron and Craig may prove mistakes, perhaps expensive ones if the conjecture/guessing re fees/wages is anywhere near the mark. I'll say it again, i'm entirely unconvinced by Uwe and his scouting staff but am very open to be proven wrong.

:eek:Seriously, I agree with all your points bar this one, Bidwell is a real player who was learning his trade and brilliant to watch, towards the end of last season he did what youngsters tend to do and threw in one or two mistakes, that Sheff Utd goal where he got dragged into CB, colided with another and left Ched Evans all the time in the world to fire home for example, Bidwell will play at a much higher level than Dickson without doubt but he wasn't as quick going forward or as much of threat in and around the oppo's box. Bidwell was a better crosser of a ball and found space well, Dickson was a forager who created havoc and space for others, two different players but I wouldn't say that Bidwell was better at this stage on last season's showing. This is all in my opinion and we were blessed to see two real talents at LB in such a short space of time, Barron has a lot to live up to as we have been spoilt. I'm sure you'll disagree.:sorted:

If Barron plays like Tuesday night again I'm getting my boots out and going down for a trial.

Thanks - but I can pay my own way even on my pension.

Unlike some posters I have no problem nailing my colours to the mast.
Uwe all the way this season.

............Sorry but thought he had another poor game............

Agreed. I hope we get Bidwell in or another centre back and push Craig out to left back. May even give Barron a kick up the arse.

Scott Barron

Will be interesting to see their goal again which came from down Barron's side. I don't think he had much of a pre-season though, so he deserves a few games to get up to the required level. No point writing him off yet.

Scott Barron

No problem first half at all. 2nd half he got caught for the goal. He's not that bad. I expected another Mark Fleming or Mark Hill. You lot are too harsh....

. I have no idea if this is still possible but we still have 4 loan signings we could make. IMO would make a big difference.

Scott Barron

In my opinion at fault for the CRewe goal but overall had an OK game, I am hoping that he improves with game time and that at present he is rusty, would imagine he is awre more than most of his failings and is aware that the spotlight is oin him, perhpas if he has a solid game away next week he might find it easier.

Scott Barron

Not sure that he's as bad as some are making out but there are definitely question marks over him IMO.

Lets wait and see Pipe, but would take Bidwell or Dickson anyday. But lets wait and see.

Scott Barron

He was frigging awful as he was on tuesday. Its no wonder that we looked stronger at the back when Legge came on and Craig went left back.

Scott Barron

A bit worrying for him that he got taken off when seemingly not injured but the jury is still out for me

A bit OTT imho... but that could be because he wasn't really tested. And when he was, it ended up in a Crewe goal.
I think we need better than Barron, and he was the only question mark from today's performance, but I don't think you can write him off yet.

No he wasn't. What did the player do wrong in the first 45 please?

Scott Barron

Can't comment on previous games. Saw him for first time today and didn't instil confidence. Lost his man on a couple of other occasions as well as the one leading to the goal, but was fortunate the man wasn't spotted. Granted he hasn't had a pre-season, but if you can't play with confidence when 3-0 up and get subbed as it looks like Crewe might get back in the game, it starts to look like your average Millwall fan's opinion of him is right - gives 100% but just not up to it. Would love to say he'll improve with time and fitness, but just can't see it. Back line looked much more solid when Legge came on.

Scott Barron

How long is his contract? If Bidwell becomes available we would be stupid not to take him. Barron could be good cover for Lb and Lm. He still might come good though but I'm not overly confiedent. It's not often a 27 year old player improves drastically over night.

Scott Barron

We've just won 5-1 played some great stuff and people are happy to keep digging this bloke out.Give him a chance for Christ sake.

Scott Barron

I didn't think he played well, but I agree with the above sentiments.

I remember seeing Robert Taylor waddling out for the first time and thought 'what have we signed here?', Ashby appeared rubbish for a while, was worried about Benstead at first. Ingimarsson looked nothing much until he went to centre back.

Got to give him some time.

Scott Barron

Shaky first half
Needs a few more games with Craig + Dean to be comfortable.
Already getting abuse though from Ealing Rd.
Why do some fans have have a scapegoat / witch hunt ?

Scott Barron

Largely undecided, don't think he'll be able to handle it when games get tough but his delivery is good to have when he's not being pressured.

He played 26 times for a championship side last year so must have the ability. Maybe just short of fitness and match practice at moment. Also a lot of responsibility on full back role in diamond system so has not had opportunity to settle in side unnoticed

Scott Barron

Very true, I'm not going to judge him as a player yet, only seen him once, but he looked uncomfortable when he was being closed down today, maybe he just needs to get used to being the main wide man out left.

Scott Barron

No he wasn't. What did the player do wrong in the first 45 please?

Apart from a lack of ability to pass, caught out of position when going forward and lack of tracking back, Crewe player went round him on the outside when tight to the throw in line (never should happen in that position) lack of player awareness (i actually took time out to watch Barron and he was just oblivious to Crewe players around him) and that was all in the first half. I hoped he would get better but he got worse and was rightly substituted. Once that happened we seemed more composed and stronger defensively. I don't normally judge a player after one or two games but this is the exception. He is a very poor option at left back and an obvious panic buy.
When I mentioned to a Millwall supporting friend at work that we signed Barron she laughed and thanked us for taking him off their hands (not a good sign).

I will be the first to hold my hand up if he comes good but I just feel he won't

Scott Barron

I totally disagree. You're just finding faults to back up your views on his poor game v Yeovil. So what is an opposition winger meant to do? Not try? Every defender, at some point, has a player turn them or gets around them. So what about Shay? Dean? Craig? Forwards got around those players too today. Are they poor as well? Or is Barron someone to pick on now Osborne, Pim, Eger and Woodman has moved on? Give the fella a chance. He has no midfielder in front of him or assisting if he pushes on. Kev dropped in a few times. He was taken off because Brentford were getting beaten to headers in the box. Height gave us the edge.

I give up with some.

Let him get his confidence back in the reserves- he is not ready for the first team!

"So how did you celebrate Brentford winning 5-1?" "Oh, I spent the evening slagging off the left back on the Internet"

Sorry but I dont get the logic in your argument. If he was taken off because we needed height why didn't Uwe simply replace Craig with Legge rather than shuffle the back 4 around. I have previously made the argument on this thread that with the number of Championship games that Barron has under his belt he cant be that bad but frankly I thought he was woeful. It may be a confidence thing or lack of fitness or perhaps he didn't want to leave Millwall, but at times I thought we had a 3 man back four. If it hadn't been for Douglas and Kev tracking back to cover for him I dread to think what would have happened.
Maybe its too soon to write him off but he sure as hell shouldn't be in the starting line up next week.

Scott Barron

We've just won 5-1 played some great stuff and people are happy to keep digging this bloke out.Give him a chance for Christ sake.

Just because we have enjoyed a good victory it doesn't mean that we can stop trying to improve. Surely the successful coaches are those who can always find fault with something in a performance. We won't score 5 every week so it seems not only reasonable but necessary to look at areas of defensive weakness. Barron was less exposed today than on Tuesday but his lack of positional awareness meant that he was still caught out too often. I think and hope that there is probably improvement still to come but it would need to be very substantial for him to match even Craig Woodman's contribution lat season, let alone Bidwell's.

That said, I just don't understand the fan on New Road who rose as Barron was substituted to yell 'You're S**t Barron'. Criticism on an online forum he probably won't read (not if he has any sense) is one thing but to abuse one of your own players within earshot when his confidence is no doubt shot to peices is not only cruel and pointless but also completely counterproductive.

You must look at totally different matches or not have the remotest idea. Count the number of balls he plays without looking straight into the oppositions right back area, count the number of times he gets caught out of position when the opposition is attacking. He was a weak link, if you think otherwise, well....

II give up with some.
For someone that doesn't understand that's a bit rich.
