Hunty was quality. A few more like him and we wouldn't be languishing near the foot of the table. Almost a bees ledgend :sorted:

Is the Hunt incident online anywhere? Looked at Sky/bbc/youtube etc and cant see it

I also have my reasons for not liking him as a person as well after an incident with a mate of mine in Oceana nightclub (after he had begged us to confirm to the bouncers that they were pro footballers, cos the staff didn't believe them)

Committed player but not up to Premiership standard IMO.

 Why wouldn't you/or your mate Confirm that he was pro in the first place, after all the effort and commitment he put in for the club, seems actually a bit out of order from you ?

Not up to standard, maybe, but after yesterdays performance against the English Champions and one of the best teams in Europe, this comment makes you look like even more silly. I watched the game on PremPlus and he was Readings MOM along with Sonko.

Hunty was a great player for our club, i dunno if he is good enough for the prem but all the best to him :sorted:

Opinions on Huint are by-the-by IMHO.

The challenge was the sort he made many times during his Brentford career, a little reckless but in no way malicious. I cannot believe he would ever set out to hurt another player.

Mourinho is a clown.

Stephen Hunt (retired)

Exactly he is just not the brightest and a pretty clumsy player

Stephen Hunt (retired)

Personally I thought he "left something in" the challenge possibly due to inexperience/excitement? Contact was made and he could have leapt over Cech?

Stephen Hunt (retired)

Just seen in on MOTD2 and I think if Hunty had wanted to hurt Cech, he would have stuck his studs in. I really don't think he was deliberately kneeing him. Mourinho's (over) reaction is typical of the man, IMHO.

Good Luck to Stephen Hunt - A player who gave everything to Brentford Football Club.

It's stories like these, Stephen Hunt playing against Man Utd and Chelsea that keeps football special in my eyes..and no doubt the dream alive for all those fellow pro's starting out in divisions One and Two.

He is committed, but how many times do you want a Brentford player to 'go in hard' from the first whistle to make sure the opposition 'knows you are here to play'???

In my opinion from the pictures it didn't look like the challenge did have too much intent..as for Mourinho, he can suck Daddys Cock, because this ***** is really starting to get on my nerves now...

Good luck to the ex Bees - bettered themselves and now in the Premiership.
Look where we are - we should all be proud of them.

Well said!

Regardless of whether Hunt meant to leave his foot in or not, a depressed skull fracture is a nasty nasty injury and would be regarded as such in any sport, even the high contact ones such as rugby or boxing. An attacking player should not be kicking the goalkeeper in the head regardless of whether the attacker has a right to go for the ball or not. Once he sees the keeper has the ball he should be jumping over him and there isn't really any excuse as an injury like that is only caused by a major impact and even though Hunt was travelling at speed if he had dragged his leg rather than move it, he wouldn't have cause dthe Chelsea goalkeeper that injury.

No-one can dispute it was a very nasty injury, but just bad luck that it came from a relatively innocuous challenge.

Hunt could possibly have tried to jump over Cech (would depend on his balance etc) but even then there is a risk of your boot catching the keeper's head - possibly a greater risk in terms of statistical probablity than the forward's knee catching him and douing serious injury

I assume Lost Bee's point is he was using the 'im a pro footballer line' as if it meant he was entitled to preferential treatmeant to others in the nightclub. Only guessing though.I always was a fan of his efforts on the pitch and am almost certain he didnt go out to hurt Cech intentionally.

No more nasty than Paul Stephensons double compressed fracture of his skull which was an elbow in a challenge, that no punishment was meted out for. In fact the ref was willing to play on until he realised that none of the players were bothering and were in fact bellowing at him that someone was very close to dying on the pitch. The point is that there are times when these things happen, if he had tried to jump over him he may well of caused even more damage, a stud could have gouged his eye out as well as the impact to the head. I wish both Chelsea keepers well but i dont buy that Hunt did it deliberately.

I agree with this. It was a reckless and unnecessary challenge. I remember him making some challenges on goalkeepers like this while playing for us (far more frequently than other forwards), and I'm not convinced that he's as innocent as some on this messageboard believe.

We did confirm it for him,he then acted like a **** to us later in the evening.Completely uncalled for and showed himself up.

However that didn't influence my decision on whether he was a good player or not.

People have different opinions on players, why can't some people accept that?

I'm not convinced he's innocent either. He may not have wanted to cause the damage he has, but let's be honest, he has "previous" letting keepers know he's about.

I simply cannot believe I am the ONLY person who didn't rate Hunt

I didn't rate him either i've gotta say :imwith:

i'll never forget burnley at home in the fa cup 4th round a few years ago where he missed about 25 one on ones and we lost 3-0 (somehow) :fishing:

Fair play to him though :sorted:

We were only in that Fa Cup fourth round game because of his last minute heroics at York and free kick winner against Derby though!

Missed a few that day but the goals he scored for us in our great Escape were vital to us and we probably wouldn't be playing in this division today if it wern't for him and his goals (double figures)...(and the combination of MA of course)

York away was fantastic, we were under the cosh allday until Hunty buried it in the top corner!

One of my favourite ever games - both of us needed the cash from the next round and it was billed by some of the press as 'loser goes out of business'. Framps gets sent off after half an hour, McCammon then goes straight up the other end and puts us in front and from then on it was York City v Smudger. We're all thinking 'just keep them to one and get them to Griffin Park' and then Hunty pops up five minutes from time with a winner... absolutely mental :D

I remember that night at Bradford very well. I said to Fat Bee Slim as we watched that I thought he might be dying, but fortunately I was wrong.

Nothing was mentioned on any news item about that despite it being as severe at Saturday's incident.

I see Mourinho and Chelsea are backing away from their original stance on Hunty. Possibly because no-one else in the game was even vaguely agreeing with them. Now, if he'd been campaigning for Hunty to get his hair cut .......

Steve H is a terrific fella, spoken with him many times at the training ground and at GP in his Bees days. Definitely not the type to deliberately hurt someone......:nono:

Should have done a step over or two.....:fishing:

Not sure about the hair though..........

Or perhaps because he no longer needs to steer the media away from his teams poor form in the run up to their biggest match of the season so far.

Of course, Mourinho won't have the decency to apologise as that would be below him and an admission that he was wrong. His behaviour in this incident has been appalling. I can't stand the man and the sooner he disappears from these shores the better as far as I'm concerned.

Totally agree.

The guy is a total knob.

Stephen Hunt (retired)

I found it amusing the way he wound up the press and opposition managers when he came over here, but on a serious level he shouldn't just accuse everyone of doing wrong apart from his club. I appreciate the fact it's a pretty sensetive situation, but very few people outside of the club have said hunt or sonko's challenges were intentional, he seems to have realised this and now seems to be doing what everyone else does: blame the NHS

Anyway articles with comments like http://www.chelseafc.com/article.asp?hlid=422300&m=10&y=2006&nav=news&sub=latest+news are one of the reasons chelsea have such a bad press

The man has overstayed his welcome. Total barsteward, and I'll make an effort to hate everything about Chelsea as long as he's there.

****ing cheek of the man

Reading staff and the ambulance people agree: Cech was in hospital within 26 minutes. Mourinho: you're a liar or a ****head, one of the two, or both

Agree 100%. The man is a disgrace. And so is the club he works for.

Didn't read all of that as there was a load of b***ocks in that.

But simple answer to 3 and 4 were no, therefore Hunt didn't deserve to be sent off. What a bunch of ****ing pricks.

Stephen Hunt (retired)

Also the answer to (1) is a simple "yes!" Are they trying to suggest that it's not?

Also, if the Cech incident had happened in another part of the pitch, it would have been handball - this guy's a complete ****.
