Stuart Nelson was sitting with Lloyd in the stand wearing his tie

why was he wearing Lloyd's tie?

lol rofl rofl

What was injured: his ankle or his pride

The truth is probably both.
His ankle is swollen for sure as I had a good look at him today even though he was no longer limping. When asked how long he said "don't know yet, lets see tomorrow" which would indicate that he is close to a recall or fitness.
Incidentally with only one fit keeper training, Clark Masters was a bit on the angry side today. Maybe it was the number of shots beating him, the fans distracting him or the knowledge that a near fit again Nelson might be displacing him on Saturday???:fishing:

So there is no truth that we are doing a straight swap for Neil Shipperley. ;) :D

Stuart Nelson

"Thousands on the gate" lol

I hope you have more to offer BU than just being a smug little ****er!
You will recall no doubt that I had heard from the horses mouth that we had enquired about Neil Shipperley. (JG speaking to LR in my presence).
A separate debate was going on at that time at the training ground about which English legends would put thousands on the gate. I said IMHO that if we signed Neil Shipperley, it would improve the team, we would not now be on a 10 games without a win streak, he would score and make goals, we would stay closer to the top of the league and crowds would be closer to the budgeted figure of 6500 than the 5700 we have been getting. Simple maths tells you therefore that we would be putting nearly if not a 1000 on the gate.
Your arguement was feeble calling me a liar and stating that you were in the know and we had not made an approach at all, Simon C was "MONEY :banghead: and others just called Shipperley a fat poof or has been.
Regardless of opinion unless he actually signed, nobody knows whether gates would improve by 10 or 1000. "Nobody" means not even you MarkBFC you sanctimonious ****. It was an opinion!!! Look up that word!
You should concentrate more on your duties as a BU board member instead of popping in and out of websites when you see fit to share your wisdom with us mere mortals!

A player is said to "put thousands on the gate" if his mere presence in the team results in attendances rising by more than 1,999. I've never heard it used in the context of improving results. Except from you, RoyalOakBee, of course.

By the way, you mustn't go around calling fellow GPG members smug little ****ers - please don't do it again.

Stuart Nelson

As this thread has become completely irrelevant and rather offensive, can it be now closed?

:offended_sensibilities_smiley :

Stuart Nelson

You obviously haven't seen him, trust me he's not as good as Nelson by a long chalk

I am sure I remember some decent saves he made this season against us...

Stuart Nelson

Chapman Out

We wouldn't. It's not being smug, it's the truth.

Look forward to hearing your "tales" from the training ground tomorrow.

I have to admit, missed the games vs Millwall, I'm talking on previous having seen him when he was at Chelsea and also from a mate who supports Watford.

His old mans megabucks and owns a very well known homebuilders but started life in a caravan. His money and connections helped Pidgeley juniors career no end and IMHO there are far better keepers than him playing in lower leagues. Who knows he may have improved but somehow doubt if he'll stay in league football all his days.

From memory his old man was associated to Watford during their cup run in 1984 and played in goal in their semi final when all their keepers were injured. Might not be his old man but certainly related. :fishing:

Are you sure you're not thinking of Tony Coton who looked like a traveller who certainly was signed as emergency cover once by Watford?

Stuart Nelson

Brentford St George, tell your Neil Shipperley story, on the bus in nam........................ ;) ;) ;) ;)

No, Pidgeley wa signed on a non contract basis as short term cover. His old man, which would be the current Millwalls keepers grandad was Watfords club secretary at the time and I think his son signed short term from St Albans.
Tony Coton played 233 games for Watford, that was some emergency!!! ;)

Thank you.

Coton however was initially signed in a hurry as emergency cover for Steve Sherwood.

With the greatest of respect, Paulo, you are mistaken. No-one is allowed to post abuse aimed at other GPG members and politics has nothing to do with it. The rule applies to everybody. I may not spot every breach of this, but then I don't read every post. If you think a post breaks the code of conduct, please draw it to the moderators' attention using the

You clearly knew about it!

Stuart Nelson

Who scored the winning penalty at Swindon

it was Nelsons fault for the goals he let in so he had to make up for it.

they also stuck Willock in the left hand corner of the stand for Nelson to aim at, but as LR knew, he miskicked it and it went into the net !!!

Masters No.1

i hope you and she has to be obeyed have a long and happy life together.... bye Nels and ms whoever...................

Stuart Nelson

sorry a bit late posting this, but i saw Stuart Nelson at west middx hospital on monday having a scan on his ankle witch he said he hurt on friday,he said he was told ealier in the week that he wouldnt be playing on the saturday. Also said he has no idea were the Swindon story has come from and has not had any fall out with leroy or anyone else at the club.

Stuart Nelson

Not late at all - assuming you're telling the truth about this, and I am, then all good news. Hope he recovers and the battle for the #1 shirt begins (until we sell Masters to Arsenal in January for 1m quid).

The #1 shirt belongs to Stuart Nelson for the rest of this season, if we don't sell him.

Stuart Nelson

...since no one was unclear on what I meant, your reply isn't as clever as you thought it was when you hit 'submit'.

I rightly believe its his #1 shirt for the season, even if he isn't sold, unless he does something to warrant me change my opinion otherwise... he's a good shot stopper, and he's improving in other places, just because he "costs us" on certain occasions, it doesn't mean Clark Masters wouldn't... yes, he hasn't conceded a goal yet, but what's to say he'll be at fault at Oldham, and everyone will be calling for his head next?

Stuart Nelson

On one level I agree - more or less we know what Nelson's ability is, and if we're battling at the bottom then maybe we go with what we know is good enough for this division. Logic says don't take chances with so much at stake.
However, we have no idea just how good Masters is/couldbe. Do we risk getting him experience (and exposure  ) this season? I don't have an answer, to be honest.
