Because I think Dalsgaard is a better full back than Nico. The other one is more arguable I just think JC gives us better attacking options .

That’s fair enough. I just think Nico has been a big part of our new round defensive solidity. I can see the argument for JC in at LB though certainly. It’s what we do at the other end of the pitch once Lasse goes which worries me more.

We need to get our first choice full backs back in the team. They are needed offensively as much as anything else. It is Mepham and Bjelland who are primarily responsible for our greater defensive solidity, though both Nico and Barbet have done fine. It will also be good to have Nico back in midfield.

Yennaris is a stand in imo - Daalsgard needs to come back. Barbet is fine.

I think Derby at home are quite an attacking threat and I would try to be more solid in Defence and Midfield thus sacrificing a bit of our own attacking width, so, would try this in training and prepare them this week for something like;

Canos is a tad greedy for me and I'd like to see better decision making of when to pass and shoot a bit more.

Derby will be strong and up for a battle, defending set pieces will also be key. Dalsgaard height is important, hence I'd also keep Barbet over Clarke. Mokotjo or Nico is one or the other not fussed either way both have their respective merits. Watkins has been a little off it lately so give Canos a start. I struggle to see what Maupay offers so don't want him starting tbh (doesn't have great movement, doesn't hold ball up etc). I've liked the look of Marcondes altho idk if he's necessarily a striker yet I haven't seen enough or don't know enough about his career in Denmark but if it's between him and Maupay I'd give Marcondes some game time now. Bench will remain strong with plenty of options.

He's the only available striker as far as I can see. I don't count Maupay.

I'm not one for square pegs in round holes so pretending that midfielders or wingers can play the striker role isn't for me.

Obviously Shaibu isn't going to be selected by DS who clearly doesn't rate him so no need to worry.

Overall the squad still looks strong. Hopefully not to many sales in the next few days. DS has to find a way to make the real quality players click together. The majority of the players could play at most championship squads(some even higher). A few still to develop but show really good potential. DoF stated they are looking for promotion within 3 years, when they took over, so hopefully the next few months will be interesting to meet the target!

Yep, I know that of course but he is a much more natural FB than Barbet (who I like and who has done fine), particularly in terms of his ability to overlap his winger. Might be best to reserve this till the next home game, but our inability to break down teams who sit the deep (and Derby might well do that) would be eased by more attacking threat from the FBs.

I agree,Shame is that Shaibu keeps getting injured he was about to get a chance back in November when we had a lot of injuries but got injured and only started a game for the B squad last week came off after 65 mins so he’s got a few weeks before he can be concidered.Would like that sort of option from the bench not for hoof but to give us some physical presence.

Prefer Nico, as those around him play better when his influence is there, and he scores goals. Hopefully Mepham won't miss him as left back. I think Barbet has done enough, but would rather Clarke for the next home game. I don't know if Derby will target him, but Barbet brings something different. I don't know if Watkins is ready for this role, but let's see. I like the idea of a false 9 if he struggles. We will need to give the Derby defence something different to think about. If Sawyers is unable to start then I would want MacLeod there.

I really, really, would like to see, quite soon, Smith have the bottle to play only one of Mokotjo, Yennaris, Woods or McEachran in the holding position and two of the attacking/pressing options just in front. With a front three who can play together with some understanding, which must come one day, that would be a very dangerous set-up.
