Team vs Oldham

Rotherham was three points dropped but at least hopefully a wake up call for the run in. Rather that than three draws in a row.

Anyway wouldn't change it around too much, but we HAVE to take charge of this game.

Button
Yenarris Tarkowski Craig Bid well
Douglas
McCormack Forshaw
Judge
Donaldson Grigg

Trotta for Grigg in the second half.
If Judge has anywhere as bad a game as he did at Rotherham, Bring Adams on for him.
If we want to change midfield, bring on Kev or Toums. NOT Reeves who needs a rest.

(Presuming Saville injured)

Interested to see Grigg getting a mention to start the game, can I ask why????

I concur ..

Sounds like Trotta didn't have a good game on Tuesday but then who did?
Trotta has been in red hot form of late and has done so much... So why drop him?
I agree in the sense of giving Grigg a go, but we need goals now more than ever and Grigg just hasn't done it - yet.

Team vs Oldham

Might it be keeping Trotta back for the perceived harder game against the Blades? However Coldham won't bee easy either...

I thought Trotta was kept back last night with the Oldham game in mind. Well it looked like that must have been the instruction he was given.

But he did start.

My team would be

Button Nico Tarks TC Jake
Mac JD Toums Sav
Judge CD Grigg

subs perm 7 from who is fit!

That's permitting everyone injury free.
Can we afford Trotta having a no show? I know he has been excellent, but AT TIMES he does nothing in the first half of games and is clear to everyone today won't be his day - so get Grigg on for 30 minutes, some proper time please.
McAleny for Judge is an obvious switch too.
Tarky is a far better passer than Dean, forget about Tarky's 9 yellows, we need to win these games!
Forshaw looks to have a knock, same as Saville.

God we need a good showing.

Tarkowski will definitely start, partly because he will know well teh strikers he is up against and partly because he and Craig have a good recent record together and Dean clearly not fully fit. Also I would start with Grigg and then bring Trotta on in second half as he has been effecrtive in doing that recently and we will want Trotta to start against Sheff utd. In midfield it is a quandry - it certainly looks like Savile and Forshaw have knocks so McCormack into midfield makes sense for both this and the Sheff Utd gamne so gives us the most solid foundation. Who plays with them? I have a feeling Savile will be fit to play so:

To be fair, you could start your grandmother against our strikers and they still wouldn't score.

If Saville isn't fit, I think that would be my 11, possibly Reeves on the bench ahead of Adams

Pretty much what id say too

.............she says she'll catch a cold up there and prefers Southern warmer grounds..............

If so, it would be a bad strategic mistake. United is a tough game which we could well lose anyway. Oldham, however, is a real chance to get a crucial three points. We need to go for broke against Oldham and cross the United bridge when we get there. Three points from these two games, while not absolutely ideal, keeps us firmly on track.

Exactly. A win against Oldham followed by a defeat at Sheffield United would be better than two draws.

Please can you do it the other way around.

Trotts for Will and we need a more "game changer" bench of .....

Lee / Will / Harlee / Jake R / Toumani / Dallas / Adams ( don't need 2 centre backs---negative !!)

Yes with you on that one. Time for young Nico to show us what he's about. Though isn't Saville meant to be fit as well so he may replace someone on the bench.

Team vs Oldham

We need McCormack in midfield, I think when you go to places like Oldham, Sheff Utd you need a bit more steel in the middle. I like Reeves but think he would be better for the home games where teams tend to just come and defend. With Dean clearly carrying injuries I would have Tarkowski to replace him.

Button
Yennaris Tarkowski Craig Bidwell
Douglas
McCormack Forshaw (or Saville if Forshaw carrying an injury)
Donaldson Trotta Judge

Button
Nico - Tarka the otter - TC - Bidwell

McCormack - Saville
Clayton - Trotta - Judge

Subs: Lee - Harlee - Toums - Kev - Dallas - Grigg - Forshaw

I would assume that Toums is ahead of Reeves now as there would have been no point bringing Toums back.

Do we need Kev and Dean on the bench? Would rather another attacking/midfield option.

Part of me doesn't care what the line-up is as long as they "turn up " this time. But for the record, I'd take this, swapping Saville for Forshaw to start.

Might consider making Tarky captain for the day against his old club.
Hopefully the responsibility would calm him down a bit and stop any rash challenges.
Coldham might well try to wind him up, but maybe the captaincy would add some restraint........
thoughts?

I just dont think Dean is fit, and Reeves hasnt done enough for me to warrant another start.

Everybody else who had an off night on Tuesday, (funnily enough the most abject performance since ... OH....wait... Rotherham at home!) deserves the chance to put it right.

So a 21 year old lad who collects bookings like a salesman business cards just back from a sending off for reckless challenges against his old club who will be targeting him in a side he's played 5 games for ? Doesn't sound like your finest suggestion

Went on BBC Sport Football site Oldham. Their manager hopes Tarky plays as they know a lot abut him. I take that as an insult to Tarky and would love him to score a thumping header and have a blinder.

What a negative post.....give the boy a chance, don't you think he's learnt from that rash moment. These " boys" are professional footballers...I trust Tarky to do a good job....

Def need Dean even though he's nursing an injury, was superb at orient.

Depends upon fitness, no good having a crocked sub. He was poor against Coventry and Rotherham so whatever injury he has it's impating his performances in which case we need to get him sorted out not keep risking it.
