Assuming Goode is unavailable and Baptiste suspended then I would go:

In theory, you should be right as that should be enough to dispatch the 92nd club in the league. However, even with Pinnock v. FGR, we all saw how poorly we competed in the first half (along with a change of formation, admittedly). It was Ajer, FTT and Mbeumo coming on that saved the day.

I know, my concern is Pinnock came off injured, luckily nothing too serious. However this may be controversial but I would rather of lost the game than lost Pinnock, even for a few weeks. I know lots of ifs and buts but I’d just rather risk not getting through than risk one of the first names on our team sheet getting injured. Also would like to see how Russell, Nico Jones or Adedokun get on against a lower league side.

Liverpool is a massive game, can’t afford to risk any starters. Onyeka is the only one in that 11 who could start, but he could do with some minutes after COVID. Really hopeful we can get Myles some minutes off the bench, looks like a top talent from what I’ve seen of the B team.

Think it would be a shame for any of the wolves starting XI to feature on Tuesday. Whilst it would be embarrassing to lose to Oldham at home the league has to be the priority and no need to burn out pinnock this early (he was away for the international break right?). Also as a pools fan (played them yesterday) I can say Oldham are nowhere near the level of FGR. Really no excuses if we can only beat them with Pinnock in place.

Looks good though perhaps Racic for Pinnock and give Zanka a chance to lead the defence? Strong bench so we can turn things to secure the win if we need to- like last season I think the Carabao is really important to give the understudies and alternates proper competitive game time. Though I slightly recoil at calling a line up with five full current/recent internationals (3 in Euro 2020!) understudies!

Think we need to carry on with a back three. For continuity and also because it suits the fullbacks we have much better.

Presumably Goode won’t be available.

Therefore I’d go with something like:

Bidstrup Peart-Harris

Forss Wissa

I’d like to rest Pinnock but not sure we have any other viable left-footed options at centre half. Jones from the B team maybe?

Would have Valencia on the bench.

If we are in a position to do so I would like to see other B teamers come off the bench, Stevens and Maghoma in particular.

This seems reasonable although I'd play someone else not pinnock as it's just not worth risking anyone who's a nailed on first teamers getting injured

Would worry about that midfield! Think Onyeka will likely start and why wouldn't you give minutes to Jensen and Ghoddos? If we were going to bring in a B team defender I'd go with Hockenhull as he's looked v impressive recently. B team are playing Wed night so wouldn't expect too many in the squad on Tuesday tbh..

Quite looking forward to this one. Should get to see Wissa for the whole game and he should be a bit more settled into our style by now. Pressure off and hopefully we can get one up early on and put on a bit of a show..

I would also like to see Racic and Zamburek (probably second half) get a go, unless there is a reason they have gone missing I don't know about

Racic seems to have been in training but hasn't played in the last couple of B team games. Zamburek's been gaining fitness for the B team last couple after his unspecified injury (and did v well v QPR). Wonder whether Valencia will come out of the woodwork? Would have no issue with him being in the squad for this one if he's still with us?? I'd quite like to see Hockenhull given a runout as he's looked really good for the B team for a while.

I definitely agree with this. Pinnock works so hard for the team in every game, if anyone deserves a break it is him. He also heads the ball more than any other player and having a break from that responsibility would also be sensible. In MHO He is key to our defence and should not be risked

We can't often have played a team further down the ladder to us. We shouldn't be risking anyone who is expected to feature against Liverpool IMHO.

Closest might be Liverpool League Cup in 74? They were top of the first and Brentford 15th in the fourth at the time. That's 82 places, I think

Don't think there could have been as when we were in the First division the Third division was split into a North and South so top of the First would have been 66 places above bottom of the ladder (then 68 after 1950 when divisions 3 increased from 22 to 24 members).

I think Onyeka is a key player as well so why not Bidstrup?

I think we should keep playing our actual formation and play Roerslev in that Dalsgaard role of last season. He should be able to cope vs Oldham and should be good at bringing the ball out.

Really looking forward to the game. As well has, clearly, having the best first team we've ever had, this is by far and away the best squad ever - find myself excited about seeing what Wissa can do, and although the first half against Forest Green was dreadful, would love to see Bidstrup taking charge of the midfield. Get all the arguments for sticking with 3-5-2, and not sure I really rate Zamburek - but would love to see Forss feeding off crosses and doing what it looked like he was going to become last season - lethal in front of goal. Is Haygarth injured? If not, would like to see him get a run out - looks like a player to me. And despite some negative views on here - would love it it Fosu got a chance to prove them wrong - may just be being sentimental but he played with great spirit last year and I really wish him well.

And Canos had a significant part to play in the 2nd Half against FGR as well.
