Team vs Oldham

Ideally we should play 3-5-2 but I’m not sure we have the defensive cover to do so without playing at least one of our starter CB’s. Zanka starts but who else? Nobody seems to know if Racic or Goode are actually match fit. Maybe time to see Hockenhull in action.

Doubt he’ll ever be good enough for us, and will likely be gone in January. Would much rather give a B teamer a chance.

A good 90 minutes against Oldham is still a million miles away from the physicality of the Premier Lge.
Can't see Jensen dislodging Janelt, Frank or Baptiste any time soon for a starting place.

I’d like to rest Pinnock but not sure we have any other viable left-footed options at centre half. Jones from the B team maybe?

Would have Valencia on the bench.

If we are in a position to do so I would like to see other B teamers come off the bench, Stevens and Maghoma in particular.

Agree, we need to keep the same shape as normal. Probably give Frank a start to get time on the pitch and maybe Jensen/Ghoddos as well. That means losing Fosu and Bidstrup. Gives the bench a run out.

This game is more of a distraction for Oldham then it is us. Would they rather stay in the football leagues or progress to the next round.

With what happened to MBS we’d be mad ahead of the Liverpool game to risk our defence.

our ‘second team’ would still on paper make a strong league 1
Team / decent mid championship team.

Frank's pre-match interview suggests a strong 'second team' and limited number of B teamers on the bench, which is good IMHO. Whilst I'd love a few B teamers to get minutes it's key that all the current first team bench and players coming back from injury get a good runout, preferably in our normal formation, which may mean having to play a couple of first choice players. I'm comfortable with that tbh..

I think we'll go 3-5-2 as the 4-3-3 didn't work great against FGR in the first half. Thompson and Roerslev are also better wing backs than full backs.

Wonder if we might see Bidstrup dropping in as a third CB, similar to Norgaard at the end of last sesaon:

Decent team. Conspicous absence of Valencia. Reckon if all going well FTT will come of around 60 for Bidstrup to save his legs for Liverpool
