Team vs QPR

I don't think we'll see this, but I think I'd like to see:

-------------------- Bentley -------------------------

--- Clarke ---- Egan -- Bjelland ---- Barbet ----

------------ Mokotjo ----- Woods -----------------

-- Jozefzoon ----- Watkins --------- Canos ------

--------------------- Maupay ------------------------

With Sawyers going off the boil lately, seems fair that perhaps Watkins should get a chance in his more favoured central position to see what he's capable of there?

Truth be told I'd be happy enough with any combination of Mokotjo, Woods and Yennaris behind him, but the only reason I've left Yennaris on the bench for now is that we've seen in the past that he can have quite an impact in games when coming off the bench because of his energy.

He has asked to play on the wing, this wingman role is his choice.
Perhaps he should play wide attack on the left?

Anyway, it won't happen but I'd go for a radical approach. It seems that Holloway generally sets up to press and, given his defensive constraints, I'd guess that's what he'll do to protect his makeshift back line. He's already mentioned that our centre backs pass between them to retain the ball and that Woods is a key player in this tactic, so he'll fill the space between the centre backs and man-mark Woods. A number of teams have done this, to greater or lesser effect, so I would drop him to the bench and play a central 3 of Mokotjo, McEachran and Yennaris, who can rotate with a lot of mobility, with one detailed to mark Luongo. That would negate the man-marking tactic, confuse the opposition and allow us to get balls into forward space! I'd guess Smith will make minimal changes, if at all, to the side that performed poorly in the last two games.

Oh fair enough, I assumed as he played centrally for Exeter quite often that that was his 'main' position and we just put him out left earlier in the season out of necessity.

Still think he'd do a job centrally though with his size.

Ollie still seems to have a Bees fixation amid his normal verbal diarrhoea. Talk about putting it all out there, or is he the master tactician? I suspect not, but he has a specific plan to counter Woods, so I too would start him on the bench to stymie it.

I read that as 3 ft defenders. Thought that might give our relatively small team a chance.
If you believe Ollie in GWL, then he's only got 3 fit defenders & none of them are CBs. Hopefully, he's getting his excuses lined up in advance to explain away another heavy defeat to us...
No doubt a couple of them will miraculously recover in time for Monday night, but it might allow DS to tinker a bit more than he would normally, after a poor performance last Tuesday.
For me, Canos has done enough to warrant a start, & his energy & enthusiasm should draw extra derby fouls. This would allow us a sort of one-and-a-half up front (Maupay/Vibe + Watkins) against a possibly makeshift defence. We could strike early & be done & dusted just like our last visit.

(Anyway, that's how I dreamt it last night....)

Forget that the gate looks small, probably because it's mid week, on Sky and just before the most expensive month of the year.
Raras are treating this as a massive game and looking to regain their pride and bragging rights. They are worried that they are missing about 4 players and not confident of winning but they are up for it and I know 3 or 4 who like us have taken the day off.

Team vs QPR

It seems like QPR have a bit of an injury crisis at the back. Hall, Lynch, Onuoha, Perch, Caulker and Furlong’s injuries mean that QPR are without six defenders for Monday’s game.

Jordan Cousins is also a doubt for the match

Australian international Massimo Luongo has been passed fit

Will probably mean that replacements come in and have the games of their lives coz it's Brentford innit.

I think I if you play Ilias you have to give him support and don’t think he would get it from Sawyers. So you either play Mokotjo in place of Sawyers or stay with Barbet. My preferred option though would be Barbet and Mokotjo
