Even if we go down?
Saturday Scott compramised all footballing principles and pride etc.
I stopped reading there.Reading through this thread makes me feel ill.
Sweepy, I agree with your post on page 29, cant be bothered to go back and quote it.

Saturday Scott compramised all footballing principles and pride etc. He set up against the "Name" not the "Team". Anyone would think we were just about to play the old Leeds champions league team of years ago! That shows how much faith he has in his players ability. We've earned the right to be in this league and deservedly were in the same league as "Mighty" Leeds now, why not go out and prove your deserving of being in this league. Im sure players like Charlie Mac were chuffed with his role. This is all ongoing sh*te that is just gonna all end in tears come the end of the season.
If I'm wrong, then fair enough I'll hold my hands up at the end of the season. But at the moment theres more signs to say that I'm gonna be right.
So we could end up like these teams, who presumably tried to win infront of their home fans against Leeds....
Oldham (L 0-2), Brighton (L 0-3) , Bristol Rovers (L 0-4) , MK Dons (L 0-1) etc etc
We are the third team in this league to have a clean sheet against Leeds (who will get promoted this season), that can only be seen as a good thing IMHO
AS and the players did a job on Leeds, we made them look average, If we didn't stick to our plans/tactics, those same Leeds players on the pitch would have added Brentford to the list of teams i mentioned above.
If AS decides to use the same tactics against Charlton (who are 2nd in the table) i for one wouldn't be disappointed.
In regards to "ambition" what were you expecting? we're the new boys from league 2, the name of the game for us is to stay in league 1. NEXT season we can worry about beating every team that comes to GP on our way to the Championship..... lol

What a load of b***ocks.
It really is an absolutely ridiculous post. Anyone would think that we'd just drawn with some mid-table nobodies rather than the team that nearly everyone has failed to beat this season. ( ps that was a feebke joke )

please lets not get over excited with each other here....we all want success but i do come from the band who think AS is doing a great job on what is a minute (but realistic budget) against teams that were in FA cup finals a couple of years ago. Tactics have been mentioned by some and I am sure AS has made some mistakes that have kept him awake at night but we must not lose sight of the calibre of loan signings he has brought in at the fraction of th cost it would have been to source these players ourselves as well as the statbility he has tried to achieve. He has done a bloody good job and is still learning so: we sign up for the journey (though that doesnt mean people are not entitled to question his decisions) or we say: 'well he does alright half the time but **** him off and get someone else in' and watch as we slowly return to the depths we sunk too a few years ago.Say what you like he seems to have a personal interest in the club that even MA didnt show when things were going well (ie always ready for an adhoc job interview). Free speach to all but lets not get at each other..we are better than that!!
Merry Xmas all of ya and I wouldnt be at all surprised if we pull off some decent..but unexpected..results very soon!!!
IMHO Yes. Even if we were to be relegated this season I would hope to see Scotty lead the team at the start of next season. It's time to stop chopping and changing and invest some faith in a young and talented manager; who will come good.

Like Brendan Rodgers?

if we went down i would like to see AS stay and give him a crack at it again why not we need stability but obv it depends on the manner in which we got relegated

Not saying he is the same standard, but how many promotions & relegations has Dario Gradi had at Crewe?
Lets see who he signs in January and how results go, otherwise I would hope we would act, don't want division two football again.
i cant understand some of these threads we nearly nicked all 3 points at the end and if we had everyone would be want a pick to line up like that the end of the day we aint got the money leeds has and to make them look like a up and under side was a great result lets get behide the as and the boys he taken us forward and i happy with that

I'm not with you, but admire your faith.
Merry Christmas to you sir!

It really is time to put this toshing thread to bed!! Everything that has been thrown at AS and his team over the last weeks has proved to be utter nonsense. Some of the classic predictions:
- he won't drop Alan Bennett, he's his favourite - urm ... wrong!
- he criticises his team in public, therefore he will lose the dressing room - urm ... wrong!
- he's out of his depth tactically in League One - urm ... VERY wrong!
- we can't win away from home ......yep, you guessed it! Wrong again!
- we'lll be in the bottom three by the New Year - I think we can all bet against that one now!
For those who had eyes to see the signs were always there that AS and the team were capable of turning their form round. For a start, promotion is never won luckily - managers who take teams up, are good managers. Period! AS deserved much more faith from fans merely on that basis. But, anyway, apart from a few blips results were never as bad as was suggested.
In the last few weeks AS's decisions have been exemplary and his good standing in the game has proved a massive asset. We needed loan players to stabilise our form and position -we got them ....and all of them have been quality players. We needed to tighten up at the back - we've done it and AS has had the courage to go with a youngster fresh out of non-league rather than a loaneee from the championship. During this time, AS has shown himself to be tactically imaginative and flexible and to have the team fully behind him.
Maybe there are still some posters out there who doubt that we have one of the best young managers in the lower leagues. I have a New Year's resolution for you: WAKE UP!.... pleeeeease![]()

The best way to achieve this is to reply to it after a week of inactivity IMHO![]()
Perhaps my first sentence was rhetorical!? I have no expectation this thread will close and know it will be full of anti-AS vitriol as soon as we lose again. But for now, it was time to make again the case for ASThink it's gonna be a very interesting Jan sales for Mr Scott. He has been proved well worthy of the budget increase (I never had the faith, and I was so wrong) he has the knack of winning badly, and that is a fantastic skill in itself.
Hopefully good times ahead for BFC! Happy new year to you all!
Hope you will make it to Ventnor in the New Year! Hey Dave - all you have got right in recent weeks is your choice of holiday townsHope you will make it to Ventnor in the New Year!

I really don't understand some of the posts in this thread, especially looking back to November/October. Yes there were some really poor performances but I think that was mainly down to some very poor individual performances. Instead of rushing into massive changes he's steadily tweaked the team, brought in some incredible loanees, brought forwards improving squad members to the first team, pushed back underperforming first team members to the bench and tried new tactics in some really tough matches. Wenger and Redknapp certainly seem to respect AS and Bullivant and they should know! Let's face it, Szczesny could easily play in the Championship or even a bottom half Premiership side and is only getting better.I really don't understand some of the posts in this thread, especially looking back to November/October. The fact that we managed to win yesterday without the presence of Szczesny or Dickson shows that we have reasonable depth to the team too.
By all means question AS's performance, challenge his decisions and if the team cannot recover from bad runs then start asking questions but let's give the man a chance. He has shown himself to be an incredible talent and we are lucky to have him!
Norwich manager for that award I reckon... unbeaten in 10 games.... whereas we lost to Tranmere Rovers!!
to cheer u all up, as if you dinn't realise, our next 10league games are as follows.
Home
...................
Millwall
Walsall
Colchester
Leeds
Charlton
Southampton.
Might get 1 point from that lot against Walsall
AWAY
............
Wycombe
Tranmere
M K Dons
Gillingham
Should get at the least 2 points from them games.
Whitch gives us 3 points from the next 10 games. Of course I hope I'm totally wrong, but going on current form can anyone see any different?
