Not had a problem with the atmosphere in ER this season, but I could probably count on one hand the times I've heard the whole ground in full voice. If you sit in NR or BR and are worried that the noise from ER isn't loud enough then feel free to give us a hand.

Hey WW I sit in the middle of NR and I can assure you I do my bit on the noise front. Also had a big bust up with a Trotta moaner last year who was a few rows behind me.

Spot on. The atmosphere from the paddock was good against Norwich and Fulham but been quiet for most of the season. Can't remember the New Road starting a chant this season.

Even in ER it's only a small section who are vocal. Paddock give it a good go when they're up for it - and you're spot on about NR. We've stopped bothering singing 'New Road, give us a song'.

But the 'worry' for me isn't New Road - at every ground there are going to be sections that prefer to just sit and watch. My worry are the large areas of the Ealing Road that are just as quiet as parts of New Road or Braemar.

To be fair, I think the atmosphere's actually been pretty good for the most part this season, even if it wasn't great on Sat. But if one of those late chances had gone in, we'd all be talking about another great celebration...

I heard it start two 'Come on Brentfords' on Saturday and I was in the Braemar!

All grounds have their singing areas, where most chants start. Generally speaking, the only chants that the rest of the ground sing - or occasionally start - are the most popular ones, which are particularly associated with the club eg 'When the Saints' at Southampton, 'Glad all over' at Palace etc. One of our problems is that we don't really have such a song other than Hey Jude which isn't ours alone and takes too long to get going. There are only two chants that ever really get picked up by the rest of the ground: 'Come on Brentford' and 'By far the greatest team'. If the Ealing Road singers want more support from the rest of the ground I would sing these as much as possible and stop things like 'Sing up for the Bees', which is great away but never works at home, and 'Come on you reds' which dies an embarrassing death on almost every occasion!

What you've said is all correct - as it happens I'm not a particular fan of 'Sing up for the Bees'. I totally accept that the rest of the ground will only join in a couple of songs. It's the same everywhere. But there doesn't seem to be any middle ground with us. Either it's about a quarter of the Ealing Road singing or, about twice a game, it's the whole ground.

I must add here that I know the Paddock start a few songs, but I'm too far away to here a lot of them.

What I'd like is just a bit more 'mid-level' singing, where it's not necessarily the entire ground singing but where it's more than us lot on the right side of Ealing Road.

Right, in the New Ground the club should hold auditions before they issue any season tickets.
No singing no watching Brentford, soon find 20,000 diehard Bees fans who sing no problem.
Toby, Toby, Toby, sometimes I despair, don't worry about what you can't change. Enjoy football standing, singing your heart out and no doubt bouncing around facing the wrong way in future if that works for you but let others do what they want.
There's no rules for being a true Bees fan apart from a genuine love for our club. It's immaterial of where you live and how often you attend or how loud you are. I love it when three sides are cheering and singing or a big mob together at away games sing their hearts out but wouldn't moan at the people around me who are silently taking it all in.
Now chill out and get yourself ready for a pleasant surprise at Craven Cottage.

i actually back tobyposhboy on this one....theres so many on the new rd who look at me with mild amusement cos i actually start a few songs and join in with the ones happening.....its like im doing something really weird at the football lol....theyre just not used to how it used to be, those 'new brentford silent phone obsessed not really bothered about the result fans' they'll be gone soon thank the lord, when we're relagated at the end of next season ;)

relegated from the premiership, obviously lol

I stand in The Paddock and love the atmosphere. I can't be arsed to worry why The New Road aren't singing or ER is a bit quiet.
I cheer us on, abuse and take the p*** out of the oppo and officials for the best part of 90 minutes and am near enough that they hear it, laugh a lot, no doubt grate with a few but love watching the best team I've seen in 47 seasons in front of the second biggest crowds I've witnessed. I'm buggared if I'm going to worry about the lack of atmosphere in parts of the ground I'm not sitting/standing in?

Ultimately at Griffin Park when things are going our way we're noisy, we're quiet when they aren't and when things are tense and we're either holding onto or trying to claw back a goal the atmosphere matches it. Is this not just the same at every single football ground you've ever been to?

I think some of you should appreciate the Griffin Park atmosphere while you can. Whilst we do of course desperately need a new ground, if we don't fill it by at least 75% each week, there'll be a new thread in here where you're all waxing lyrical about Griffin Park and how the atmosphere ain't what it used to be.

Its the same as every ground in the country, away fans sing, home fans chat to their mates. When a big game comes along or a game really kicks off then the home fans become electric. It will not change in any ground in any country.

Can we close this thread now, this topic has been done to death in the last 20 years.

I also dont sing because i can't. I shout.... a lot, nearly always at the ref. i can not stand that awful "sing on our own" song, it does my head in.

Bmouth was a fantastic atmosphere, blackpool was too easy to get anyone excited.

It was a bit like that first half Saturday. It was SO easy, it was difficult to get passionate about. I think the players were affected by this as well. It took everyone, players and fans alike, too long in the second half to wake up to the fact that somehow we were losing!

Spot on Bixer.
With the introduction of "all-seater" stadiums and the consequent raising of prices the atmosphere in all grounds was bound to go down the toilet, and I believe we will (eventually) be no different at ER.
But of course on the plus side it's now a safe and friendly environment in which to watch a game (on the whole).

Just glad I'm old enough to have been around in the "good old days" to experience 3.1/2 standing sides of GP and the cracking atmosphere ... although getting a pasting behind New Road swapping ends one dreary afternoon wasn't so great :-(

It seems larger numbers don't equate to more noise.

I thought it would because when we had full houses in the past the atmosphere has been brilliant. In retrospect that's because it was a big game, rather than big attendance. The best atmosphere I remember was when we seemed to turn a corner under Andy Scott and beat Chesterfield 2-1 at home. Not many there that day, but all sides were singing and the place was rocking!

Have unfortunately only done 5 or 6 (and missed Fulham at home......), but I'd go for B'Muff.....
Obviously away would be Great Friday.....

We have had better atmospheres on tue nights with 6k in league 1 then we have had this season for sell outs in the Championship.

It pains me to say it but the atmosphere of late has been piss poor, shame we are finally filling the ground after so many years but it's so flat.

Atmosphere wise I preferred Derby to Fulham away. Whilst it was great to have 6000 singing Bees up Fulham down at the end, we were not all singing through the game; in truth when there are only 1000 of you (against 30000 of them) everyone feels obliged to sing for most of the game.

Not sure where you were sitting but the Fulham game had quite a lot of singing throughout the game.

Having been to most of the away games, I thought the home teams fans' atmosphere was generally rubbish - worse than League 1. Leeds was a notable exception.

Ok I didn't do Derby, but I have several years of a dozen or away games a year and Fulham away is up there for the very very best atmosphere and fans performance ever.
I include Liverpool, Blackburn, Peterboro, Cambridge, Tottenham, Newcastle, (didn't do Darlo), Leeds, Chelsea, Orient and numerous other massive games but 6,000 + fans all singing Bees up Fulham down was as good as it gets for me.

I had a group of fans near me yesterday that got up after about 70 mins and said "come on lets go and see the Chelsea game on the box". Says it all about the new support.

Yep, agreed. Many grounds though seem to have a small group of faux ultras with a drum who make a bit of noise from time to time with the rest of the ground sitting in near silence except when their team score a goal,

theres about a dozen of us split up who sing in block 502 new rd....the rest look around thinking its really weird....the new brentford fan doesnt like singing and i dont even think they like brentford very much either....only there for a championship game and to buy a burger :( the atmospheres since fulham have been awful....its like that was some sort of final and nothing else matters after....very strange and as said before it was better on a tues night in league 2 with 4k than now ;)

Couldn't help but notice the amount of women and kids at Yesterdays game. I know it's been growing, but it was especially noticable.
Toilet breaks, chip breaks, drink breaks, coat off, coat on.
F*ck me; give me back p*ss*ng in the open air and crowd surges any day.
