Any news on Smiths fitness progress?? We desperately need CM sorted, we sign strikers, wide midfield, back four but never any central midfield.

Agree that we desperatley need some creativity in the midfield! I think Charlie would get even better if this could improve!

Agree with you. With Charlie's movement and reading of the game, a bit of creativity would, I'm sure, be productive.

I would say it has already turned into one, bearing in mind he hasn't played all season.

Could the club not give us some indication as to when he'll be back?

Mark, do you not think it pretty shoddy that the club hasn't told us the extent of Smiths, Williams and Newtons injuries. Every other club has updates either in the programme or on the web site, so why are we kept in the dark?

It could be a variety of things Nick. Some injuries cannot be given a recovery date before an operation, and even after that it's not certain. Of course the club should be pro-active post injury but it's sometimes difficult to give the correct information.

Plus, it's possible the club may not want to reveal information that could weaken their hand in the transfer window.

We haven't been told anything though a rough idea would be nice, people who weren't at the game concened wouldn't know. They just ask their mate,
" where is so and so? "
" Erm injured i think "
" oh whats wrong with him? "
" Erm i don't know "
" When will he be back?"
" Erm "

etc etc etc.

It isn't good enough mate and if every ever club doesn't mind this info going out i don't see what we are gaining by keeping everyone in the dark.

Perhaps we want to keep it quiet as to exactly when we want to unleash the Pead.

:imwith: It's a bit rubbish isn't it? Williams went off with a knock in a cup tie, we hear nothing and then we're signing wingers on loan. Are we expected to do the sums ourselves?

Exactly, its my one bugbear in an otherwise happy season. We have a good team and look to be in with a real shout so you have a feel good vibe. But then you want some information or communication and its not forthcoming. We are soon put in our place though when we say we want to sign someone to give us a real chance of going up.

Scott is asked about injuries after most matches.

If the transcript isn't on here the vidoe is always on Bees World.

If the manager doesn't want to reveal the information - for whatever reason - that is his call.

I'd prefer it if someone realised that comms with the fans is important so needs to be done, albeit in a way that he thinks doesn't compromise anything.

I don't have Beesworld, i don't need it i go to almost every game. I suggest someone has a polite word then as its wrong to deny supporters injury news. Whats the point of getting hopes up for a players return when for all we know he may be out for the season?.

The Gary Smith thread

it doesn't even have to be in great detail. Apart from Halls, I really have no idea what is going on with Newton/Williams/Smith, and to saddos like me who think about Brentford for 75% of the day, it sometimes gets frustrating not knowing.

Any more than 25% is worrying

What is actually wrong with Smith, I seem to remember hearing it was a groin problem, then ankle ?
I can understand AS keeping his cards close to his chest on the team selection coming up to a match as it could give the opposition an advantage, although I doubt clubs in Division 4 are as switched on as that.

But for players who are out long term I really don't see how it could give the opposition any advantage.
Communication with the fans has never been Brentford's strong point, except of course when Martin Allen was Manager.:nono:

I think AS ought to learn a little from MAs rapour with the fans, it might take a little load off him when things aren't going the way he wants if he has the good will of the fans on his side. From the comments on here it seems a number of us would like him to improve this side of his PR

Too right

Message to PG.....bring back injury corner in the programme.:sorted:

The Gary Smith thread

Apprenlty January for:
Smith, Halls, Newton and Williams

The Gary Smith thread

Well if thats true, if we can stay top 7-8-9 until then , we will be looking good.

Peter G followed up my inquiry saying he'd reply but has not bothered. It seems that we are not to know the injury status and are treated with a contempt that does not warrant the civility of a replay or explanation

The Gary Smith thread

I would love Smith back but I hope that the club know what they are doing and bring him back when he is ready. Yes it's a bit annoying not to know but I would rather he comes back fully fit without the risk of a relapse, even if that takes a bit longer.

PG was away on leave yesterday, hence no answer, he assures me he has asked AS for update and he will transmit it to us when available. My apologies to PG for jumping to conclusions.

BTW markbfc, I took your advice and emailed [email protected] but they didn't bother to respond, proberably went to the same PR school as AS

From what I understand, the club has ten working days to reply to queries under the customer charter. From my previous experience, Peter G actually does this within minutes!

Have a look at his previous career record - that's about par for the course for him, fortunately.

The Gary Smith thread

Scott just said that the 5 injured players still aren't fit :(

The Gary Smith thread

The nearest I got to a reply was some ambiguous comments AS made on his WestSide radio station interview, When asked Whats the latest news on Gary, the AS reply was to list a history of his injury and that he was being monitored.
Hardly a direct reply to the question nor an answer that we were looking for.
I dont know why they dont want to answer the question. If they dont want to tell us then I think I'd prefer to be told to mind my own f***ing business and go away than these PC replies

That response doesn't seem too unreasonable to me. He has said what has happened to date and that he is monitoring it from now on.

Still monitoring him ...

I'm growing rather impatient on this matter! :mad1:

“Gary is in the later stages of his rehab and he is getting there slowly, but I wouldn’t want to put a date on his return. It has been too long to push him,” said Scott.

“He is going to give the whole team a boost when he is back. We have missed him. We have got results without him, but he is a big player for us and having him back is going to be like a new signing.”

Just wait for the reaction when he finds that Andy has been talking to the RTT without personally updating him first!

The Gary Smith thread

i think he will replace kev when fully fit

The Gary Smith thread

No way. Kev has been outstanding so far at CM. Smith will have to wait for his chance and make the most of it. But there's no reason to break up the partnershaip between Beano ans Kev.
