The Next Step???

Views on what should happen next?

I'd like to see us send the loan players back now saving wages and using the players we know and hope will be here next season for the last few games to give us something to work with.

We should commit to a manager for next season. If it's not Fitz we need to start looking now and show him the exit so the gaffer has the whole of the close season to sort this mess out, maybe the last few games of this season. Todays game reminded me of the second half against Crewe for Leroy's last game. At this moment I'd swing to letting Fitz go and getting a complete fresh face in, hopefully someone who's experienced and will kick em into shape.

Work out what signings for which positions need to be made and concentrate on these areas building from the back so we actually have a spine for the team

Try and keep Owusu, Ide, Abbey and Kuffour at all costs, especially Kuffour!

The Next Step???

I think most Brentford fans should get used to the fact that Lloyd Owusu and Jo Kuffour will not be playing at Brentford FC next season as they will no doubt by May have deals fixed up elsewhere.

On the plus side, I can hardly wait for June 30th this year when a large quantity of Brentford players will be rightly booted out.

The Next Step???

Start to include a couple of the youth team lads, give them some experience for next season.

Put Fitz back in charge of the youth team.

Can't see who will want to manager BFC.

Jo is a goner no doubt but has Lloyd really got himself sorted out?
Love the bloke and all that but who will want him?

I will raise a glass on June 30th with you sir.

I think we under estimate ourselves a little. A west London club should be appealing to several managers out there.

The club doesn't do enough to find good young players from around the area.

I want Fitz to stay in some capacity .I think he is a good man who has been let down very badly .
Would he want to be youth team coach again?
I don't think so

we will get someone alright..........

only after a four year interview process:rolleyes:

The Next Step???

I'm really not sure what the answer is

Part of me says give younger players a try, but I think in this side it could finish them for good being brought in now

I'd probably play any of the players who have a chance being here next year or we would want here next year with those who have perfomed least badly

Personally I wouldn't have the likes of Brooker or Tillen anywhere near the team and do everything possible to encourage them that their future is away from Griffin Park

The Next Step???

They won't do anything as drastic as sending the loan players back until it is mathmatically impossible not to stay up.

The Next Step???

Can you explain how the club could do better, and how you come to your conclusions? :)

Given the population around West London and how many young lads play football around here. Not many clubs are blessed with how many people live locally compared to us. Crewe manage it so why can't we? More to the point if we managed it then the club could actually grow and get more supporters if we do well.

It should be our life blood when you think about it. We should be out there constantly looking for talented young players to sign and develop. Having trials everyweek and searching for these players. The more you look at the more you'll find.

Who was the last player we developed from scratch and sold for good money?

The Next Step???

Seeing there have been so many reality programs on TV recently, Pop Idol, The Apprentice, The Peterboro thing etc why not contact TV channals and start a new program, Who Wants To Manage A League 2 Football Team. I'm sure they can find four judges (Maybe an ex Bees player and three high profile ex managers) . This surely would raise money for BFC and give the club some much needed publicity.

This may sound mad but being on SKY 1 worked for Peterboro.

Blimey. Beware of the troll! You don't need to post it in multiple places, you know? Also, your anger is misguided. Try aiming your vitriol at the 8 useless, apparently deaf and blind, dumbarses on the pitch who couldn't be arsed, instead of the guy who's been given an impossible task and spent the whole match on his feet trying to give them some direction and inspiration.

Ah, and the next step IMO is to keep Ship on as a coach because he has the brain but not the body, keep Fitz as manager as I think with a team that's actually interested he could do well, ditch the crap, keep our few good players if possible, and get scouting around the local leagues ASAP.

Dont think Lloyd will go.

Maybe injury prone now, older, not played in a year. His level at the moment is no way near Championship and if he does move it wont be up north or midlands etc will be local. Wont go Reading, Wycombe, Orient, Millwall so i reckon he will stay. Why not, earning a nice wage, is the fans favourite etc.

I agree with him, I don't pretend to have the answer, but our record of bringing players through to become successful pros is quite appalling...

He's off mate - like it or not.

There's nothing like giving a bloke a hundred grand while he recovers from an injury only for him to repay that by f++king off at the first opprtunity. :sorted:

Do you actually want him to go, why are you so sure he will go ?

Honeslty i cant see it happening, and im good freinds with Lloyd and im pretty sure he wont be leaving.

It won't be down to Lloyd to decide if he doesn't get offered a new contract.

i here theres an up and coming youth team manager at oxford utd

third time lucky eh rofl

The Next Step???

The next step must be to appoint a hungry, passionate "teacup throwing" manager. And pretty soon too !
SF was on BBC Radio London soon after yesterdays game and was asked if he threw things around the dressing room after the game. His answer was that "it wouldn't have made any difference to today's result".
No it wouldn't, but what about the rest of the season ?
SF is a nice man and no doubt an excellent youth team coach, but managing Youth teams ain't the same.We need someone to motivate the players and looking at the lot we presently have, the only way that is going to be done is by kicking them up the a**e hard.
Sat in BRU yesterday and it was like a morgue.Even the usual Opponent/Ref./Lino baiters were quiet.Rotherham were easily the worst team to visit GP this season and they still won !
I watched the Fans V Fans game last December and saw over 40 fans who had paid a lot of money for the privilege of wearing the BFC kit and playing at GP.They all played with pride and passion. What a contrast to yesterday.
It was pathetic to leave the ground yesterday and see the true fans shaking buckets to try to raise cash.
Senior Management please take note.we are a proud club with great supporters. Please find us a manager who can restore our pride and faith.

The Next Step???

Well now we know....all hope now abandoned.....League 2 it is.

This represents an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start again. We have no right to League 1 status, it has to be earned.

Planning for next season management and squad starts NOW and the new appointee should be in situ nanu seconds after the last game at Tranmere. l would humbly suggest the management appointed would have no prior links to the club in any capacity. We need a new look.

This season need to be consigned to history as quickly as possible. l personally would now field as many youth team players as practicable. l am happy to advise which of the squad should be retained if asked.....( its not a big list  )

l believe Fitz to be a nice guy and had we have survived would be managing BFC next year. Its a results based industry. We haven't, he didn't, they won't, it's not personal its business.

We start looking forward today. At least we know where we will be playing next season.....:sorted:

The Next Step???

I think Fitz is the right guy to stay in charge, he shows passion and pride. Yes he is still learning, however the contrast in the team since the last days of Leroy has been significantly different.

The situation Fitz, and Reeves inherited was dire. An unfit team, devastated by injuries. At least Fitz gave Brentford a chance of avoiding the drop. And yes I know the point gap from safety is big, but it is still possible to get out of trouble. A big ask though.

It is quite possible a number of players will be heading out of the door at the end of the season, however a significant rebuild of the club may be the answer. And may be a focus on bringing the youth players in, may also be the answer. But i don't think Fitz should play them until next season, as relegation will destroy there confidence and the possible future of the club. So the guy for the job is defiantly Fitz, because of his previous role at the club.

I really don't think sacking Fitz is the answer. If he is prepared to stand by BFC if relegation actually happens, then that is good enough for me.

I think the troubles of BFC lay deeper than the team and staff that turn up on a Saturday. Namely the boardroom and the Chairman.

The Next Step???

Yes he is still learning, however the contrast in the team since the last days of Leroy has been significantly different.

I don't understand, how?

We've got worse in terms of results and points?

The Next Step???

.

Yes there is a contrast. Under Leroy we passed it about and got nowhere, under Fitz we hoof it to Shipps and get nowhere...

I'm sick to death of hearing about 'passion' and 'pride in the shirt'. Passion's no use if you can't manage to get 11 players playing together as a team and you only have one tactic up your sleeve, and pride in the shirt is no use if you can't even manage to pass the ball a couple of yards to a team-mate without putting it off for a throw..

We need a complete overhaul of the entire playing side at the club, from youth coaching up to the entire first team squad and management. We need to buy a new coaching manual as someone appears to have ripped out the section for 'Central Midfield' in our current copy and we need to start teaching our youngsters some technique so they dont get totally embarrassed when they inevitably have to cover for our pitifully small first team squad. Our whole approach has been wrong for some time and it needs someone to come in, rip it out, and start again and now is as good a time as any..

And by bringing someone in, I don't mean giving a coaching job to an ex-player as a thank-you, I mean getting someone in who knows what they're doing..

I fear you are right

The Next Step???

Play some of the youth team from now on.. Leave Kuffour out of the side as he apparently has already sorted himself out with another club.. let all the loanees go back thus trying to save a bit of money that we didn't have in the first place. Make your mind up if we are going to keep Abbey (I hope we do) because if not, start playing Nelson again..Abbey's wages are apparently on 'appearances only' (harsh but realistic if we have no intention of keeping him).. Make a big decision in getting a new mananger in, I want to like Fitz but his body language and arms folded mute mode on a Saturday wouldn't motivate anyone imho..

Tell Dyke to sling his hook and put someone like Peter Gilham in the Chair at least for the interim.

Ask all the Board members including the MD to stand up and be counted, they ALL should be scrutinised as to what each and everyone of them have achieved this season.

The Next Step???

I think Fitz is the right guy to stay in charge, he shows passion and pride.

Eh?

How does he show passion and pride?

I think moments like storming across the pitch at Bradford to confront the ref, who cost Brentford three points?!

But where does that get you? Nowhere?

I think it is difficult to pass a hard and fast judgment on what Fitzgerald has done. He was obviously handed a poisoned chalice, but I'd argue Rosenoir's wasn't poison free.

I'm not sure Fitzgerald is the man to take us forward, but can we get someone who is? I definitely felt, and still feel, that he wasn't the man last November / December though. Fitzgerald shouldn't take too much flak for the problems at Brentford - he is a symptom as much as a cause

The Next Step???

Sir Peter Gilham as caretaker Manager until we find a replacement for Fitz to lead us back to the promised land

The Next Step???

Now that I agree with :D PG's gentle but firm, you don't mess him about. He's the kind of guy who says "Son, you give it 110% or leave now" and you make sure you choose one and stick to it.

Its a shame the quantity isnt 4 or 5 players more

The Next Step???

All loan players and short term contract players except Abbey should be told to feck off.

The following should be told they will not put on the shirt again and BFC are transfer listing them and would welcome their views on coming to a mutually agreeable deal to feck off:
Frampton
O`Connor
Heywood
Owusu
Brooker
Tillen
Keith
Pillock
Griffiths
Nelson

Captaincy given to Mousinho - at least he behaves like a leader on the pitch, if even his passing ability is piss poor.

Kids play to the end of the season.

We need to say to Fitz that it hasn`t worked and you will be offered the youth job for next season.

We cannot afford a coach we need a player coach.

BFC needs to look at no contracts longer than a year unless it is a exciting youngster or a player who will can get a decent fee for. Basically no three year, two year deals unless the player is a Tabb or Ide.

The Next Step???

Fitz had a significant advantage in knowing all the players at the club BEFORE he took over & he was able to clear some of the deadwood - Wijnhard, Onibuje etc - relatively easily as their contracts were expiring (although rumours about the FO deal was a little worrying). Frankly, it is impossible to say that he has been successful by any measure. Playing style, passion, tactics, signings & most of all results have been woeful.

He is a nice bloke, I'm sure, as was LR. However his policy re signings has been proved wrong. Only Abbey has been a success (& up to a point Richards). Wilson, Leary, Keith, Partridge, Taylor & even Shipperley have just not been good enough. The trouble is we have invested a lot of cash in these players & as pointed out elsewhere we are already screwed with some of the contracts in existence for next season.

Unfortunately I think the next manager, who should be appointed asap, will have an even more difficult job than SF picked up - a daunting thought - & the Conference beckons!

Not many clubs? I forgot we were the only club in London.

What about the other thirteen or fourteen in our catchment area then?
So after Chelsea, Fulham, Arsenal, Spurs, etc etc etc etc get their pick, what are we left with? No kid is going to turn down a chance to go to Chelsea even if they have very little chance of making it.

Who are Crewe's "local" competition? No-one. They also spend £1 million pounds a year on their youth academy, which we do not have.

our record of bringing players through to become successful pros is quite appalling...

Since 1987, we've had more players come through the ranks to play first team football than any other West London club.

Gents, your arguments should be based on how well this club is run OFF the field, not on it. If we don't get the former right you can forget the latter.

Reality is Bish every player at GP is on the transfer list, even if it is not advertised as such - And reality is no one even wants to take these players off our hands for free - Most of them are happy to take a wage for doing feck all and then will move onto another club when the contract runs out and fleece some other poor set of supporters.
Only hope we've got is if some of them realise that they only have a year to impress another employer and start pulling their finger out.
Other than that issue every player with a company laptop, access to the internet and then sack them for gross misconduct when the club finds Albanian blokes shagging donkeys on their hard drive.

With that kind of attitude we'll never find any good young players.

Do you know how many young kids play in lots of different leagues around here, we should be constantly hunting and searching.

I couldn't give a damn how many clubs are in London, we have a huge population of people around here and should be fighting to get there first.

The foundations of any club is the players and if you're more worried about how it's run then where we're going to get our next generation of players from good on you.

I hope the club doesn't share your same attitude to youth development.

The fact is we should do better with youth development, especially in this area of the country.

Isn't Crewe right on the doorsteps of Stoke and to a point Manchester?

The Next Step???

Tell Dyke to sling his hook

i pray that he does, dykes the reason we're in this troble:

1. he fell out with allen wo was a superb manager for our club

2.he put leroy in charge who is the worst manager we've probably ever seen

He's got 2 go, he has already mucked the club up even more than Noades did

DYKE OUT!!! NOW!!! IFHE DOESN'T GO WE'LL BE ON THIS DOWNWARD SPIRAL FOR EVER AND WE'LL END UP IN THE CONFERENCE!!! DYKE OUT NOW!!!!

The Next Step???

With that kind of attitude we'll never find any good young players.

I am a realist, not a dreamer.

Any coach that has a decent kid will contact Chelsea first, not us. We will always pick up lads that are behind technically and occasionly pick up diamonds in the rough. It's been this way since the early 1950s.

Ask the same question to Barnet and Leyton Orient and you will get the same answer.

It's down to status and resources, we have neither. I would say we are fighting above our weight in terms of youth development with Barry Quin more than capable of running an Premiership academy (he has the badges).

The Next Step???

Dyke has already said that being involved withBFC is ''FUN''
Well I agree the team is a ****ing joke at the moment so Uncle Gregg must be pissing himself.
DYKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get the **** out of our club and take that ****** Dickens with you

The Next Step???

I think a good next step for Bees United would be some sort of statement to the fans to show they have some leadership qualities.

The club has no leadership on the pitch with O'Connor probably the lamest captain any club has ever had and I can't be the only one wondering what Fitzgerald is playing at by not taking the armband off him.

But do we have any leadership off the pitch.

Now certain relegation has been the end result of two of the worst management appointments that have ever happened at this club.

Bees United, as owner of this club is supposed to be a supporters trust representing its membership who are the fans of this club who deserve some answers.

I want to hear what the plans are for next year.

Are we budgeting for success or failure for example.

If BU doesn't have the answers and merely continues to bicker amongst its self then maybe we have the wrong people leading the club.

FFS, that really is utter bollox.

I'd like someone to tell me exactly what Greg brings to the party but to suggest what you've just suggested is laughable.
