The Play Off Push.

The Play Off Push.

HUGE HUGE game on Saturday, only a win is good enough. Lets hope we get a decent crowd and back the lads vocally! Don't want to be hearing the Notts County fans outsinging us on such a big game at our place.

This!
The atmosphere has seen so much better as of late and has been the best for a long while. Went a bit flat first half Saturday but this Saturday let's do all we can to help make the difference.

Very true it has been okay of late. Hopefully Saturday will be good, my only moan is that on big games Ealing Road tends to get filled with 'glory bees' those who only turn up for the big games, and come into Ealing Road for the atmosphere and then don't contribute because they don't know the chants. All the big games I tend to look around and not recognise anyone around me.
But hoping for a great day! Few beers before the match and get the crowd going. Paddock might turn up on Saturday which always helps!

The Play Off Push.

I have us, Notts and Carlisle all finishing on 73 and us making it on goal difference!

This relies on us drawing with Wednesday and Wycombe drawing with Notts!

The Play Off Push.

Stevenage aren't going to beat Sheff Utd at Bramall Lane, so the most they'll get is 72/73 points.

Notts County ought to win their final three, so it's 75 for them.

Carlisle still have to play Charlton, Stevenage and Sheff Weds, so you'd think 75 is their absolute max.

Can't see it any other way than we have to win our final four and go up on goal difference...

With a 92nd minute winner at Chesterfield! :bound:

The Play Off Push.

Based on the remaining games todays result sees Notts County in pole position.

Both us and Carlisle have tough fixtures against Stevenage & Wednesday. Carlisle will do well to get points in their next 3, as will we. Notts County will expect to win their remaining fixtures, and could probably afford a draw against us.

They are a massive threat and only us winnning on Saturday can seriously dent their chances. We have to focus on Notts, because they are the only team we can affect.

Sadly, I think you're spot on. A draw on Sat and three subsequent wins, however, still gives us a real chance.

Up the bees, finger's crossed we can do it!!

I'd say that's about right. NC are in the driving seat, but then so is all the pressure.

The Play Off Push.

If Charlton do us a favour on Saturday then it's all in our own hands :)

The Play Off Push.

Saturday's fixtures
Brentford v Notts County
Carlise v Charlton
Scunthorpe v MK Dons
Yeovil v Stevenage

2-1 2-2 1-1 1-0

The Play Off Push.

Flat on saturday, flat the previous tuesday too. In fact so flat I nearly fell asleep. I think it was watching all that passing. Made me nearly pass out. Less passing and more goals please. Bit of singing would help too. All those seated people whose ST prices will not increase due to the massive subsidy received by huge 25% rise in our Ealing Road ST's can open their mouths once in a while please. Or you can leave it all up to us on the ER to do it and we'll come round with a bucket to collect for the price increase. Or we'll get Mark Devlin whose cunning idea it was to stick it to the seniors and students in the ER to do it. Or indeed to pay for the 25% increase himself. Or indeed even to sing. Somehow I think Mark is interested in money more than singing though.

Good article AB. Who knows which Brentford will turn up tomorrow?

The Play Off Push.

Not going to happen is it ? Beat Stevenage at theirs after they thump Yeovil 6-0 away ? Nah , Then Weds at home ?nah

The Play Off Push.

Largely agree... probably not this year, but there's still no harm in throwing everything into this campaign.

At the very least the end of season run has given us a good platform to continue on next year. If we don't make it I'll still be happy with this season.

The Play Off Push.

Stevenage V Carlisle
1-1

Next Saturday
Notts County v Bury - 12:30kick off - 2-1
Mk Dons v Sheff Utd - 1-1
Sheff Wed v Carlisle - 3-1
Stevenage v Brentford - 1-2

The Play Off Push.

County's games are not as easy as they may appear. Bury have hit some kind of form since they played us. Wycombe have to go for a win as its their only hope of survival and Colchester are always one of those teams that can be difficult to beat. Add to that that they didn't seem all that great yesterday ( neither did we ! ) and they may struggle to get more than 5 or 6 points. Provided that Carlisle dont win at Stevenage then if we beat Stevenage next week its all to play for again.
It may seem unlikely but we have nothing to lose. If Uwe sends out a team to play without fear and to play to win it could still happen. We need to play Logan and Forrester in midfield along with Douglas, Dave and Saunders. Play Clayton up front and Thompson at right back.
Send out a team to win, if they get hammered so what, lets finish the season on a positive note.

From the hartlepool reports and yesterday's performance it doesnt look like the players have much more to give, many seemed to be running on fumes yesterday and for that reason i think it is over. Great that we got back in it, shame we threw away silly points to get ourselves out of it in the first place though. Next season looks promising and im just glad this one didnt fizzle out 5 games ago like it could have.

The Play Off Push.

Bury only need one more point to be mathematically safe......... ;)

The Play Off Push.

Season over?

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that, with the pressure off, we could beat SW at GP on Saturday.
The most likely result in the subsequent 5.20pm kick-off at Bramall Lane is for Stevenage to lose.

At least that would give us something to play for at Chesterfield.

The Play Off Push.

Stevenage will lose to Sheffield United
Carlisle will draw with Exeter
Wycombe will beat Nervous Notts County
and we will beat Sheffield Wednseday

That would leave the table looking like this:

6th: Stevenage 69pts
7th: Notts Co 67pts
8th: Bees 67 pts
9th: Carlisle 67pts

Then its final day mayhem as Mike Grella writes himself into Brentford history by scoring a hat trick for Bury who claim an away win at Stevenage. Notts County draw against Colchester, leaving us to destroy Chesterfield with a 4-0 win leaving the table like this:

6th - BEES - 70pts
7th - Stevenage - 69pts
8th - Notts Co - 68pts

If your prediction comes true, you will become THE Brentford legend.

Wish you guys were taking the penalties yesterday, you would have scored from anywhere. But having read this, I now have a little hope, which is a lot better then 5.00 yesterday.

The Play Off Push.

Tranmere to win their last 2 !
Are you mad ! :owusu: :moo:

The Play Off Push.

Late surge for the playoffs but they just miss out (by 9 points)

Things could be worse

chesterfield will be gutted! if they'd won on the last day they'd have stayed up, but they lost 4-0 at home to some southern rubbish

The Play Off Push.

Wow... If only.

Imagine if the GPG was about with six games left of the 92 season? What numpties would post, "yeah, we're gonna win all six, be 4-0 up at half time v Fulham and win the championship"? :) :sorted:

mr negative here... going to go for it! we can still do it lol

You are officially head of the RTB. LEADER, LEADER!!!! :owusu::owusu::owusu:

Who's going to score Sheff Weds consolation goal on Saturday? I need to get my money on tonight.

Jermaine Johnson. You Heard It Here First!

That glass ain't half full its brimming over and trickling down the sides. Stranger things have happened, I was at Aintree when Foinavon won the National at 100-1 after every other bugger had fallen over. Strangely enough I had drawn the nag in 2 separate sweepstakes but being a born pessimist did not think that it was an omen and didn't back it. The tote paid out close to 1000-1. So I have learnt to never write off the seemingly impossible the hard way.

No matter how small the chance we've gotta keep believing!! YOU REDSSSSSS!!!

What I find incredible though is the way results have gone for Stevenage since the Saturday we played Notts County.
At that point Stevenage were in 9th, 6 points off 6th place (admittedly with a game in hand), a week later they're 2 points clear in 6th!!
Including that weekend EVERY result has gone their way: They win 6-0 at Yeovil; we draw with Notts County; Carlisle lose at home to Charlton; Stevenage beat Carlisle; Notts County lose at home to Bury; Sheff Weds beat Carlisle and Stevenage beat us!!! An incredible run of results which I'm certain no Stevenage fan could have hoped for in their wildest dream. They must believe 6th place has got their name on it............

Can we dream of a similar sequence for the last 2 weekends??

We beat Sheff Weds; Stevenage lose to Sheff Utd; Carlisle lose to Exeter; Notts County lose to Wycombe; we beat Chesterfield; Stevenage lose to Bury; Carlisle lose to Oldham and Notts County lose to Colchester!!!!

Surely after last night at the Nou Camp everyone should believe it can be done with CD playing the part of Torres. After all, we are the Barcelona of the lower leagues. Doh.

It has gone Stevenage's way but they have been winning their own games, something that we have failed to do in 3 now. If we won our own games it would have gone in our favour....
