Who's Ben Garner

Former Palace and WBA coach. Despite having been an assistant to Pulis at West Brom, he fits our profile IMO so wouldn’t be hugely surprised if he ended up on the coaching team.

Thomas Frank

Somone mentioned on this thread about a Bill Garner coming in as coach just looked him up former West Brom head coach

Impressed by Thomas Frank's interview. It always amazes me when I hear the command other Europeans have of the English language and how it puts a lot of Englishman to shame....very best of luck Thomas

Thomas Frank

Deserves his chance, and if he brings in a forward in January happy days. Well Done Frank.

Won't be done to just him, but I'm sure you know that.

Thomas Frank

His appointment is great news and proves we have succession planning throughout the organisation.

Indeed. I heard recently an article on Radio 4 that over 80% of Danes speak

English as a second language. I was gobsmacked !

Thomas Frank

Another fine slice of Danish... am I on the right thread?

Thomas Frank

Creepy. I'm reading this and wifey has bake off on. They just said celebrate the Danish!

Thomas Frank

Now we need the DoF’s to back him and stop any sale of our players in January

They have committed publicly to that if we stand a good chance of promotion.

I've spent a lot of time in Denmark and am yet to find a Dane that doesn't speak good English, also they're x10 easier to understand than our scousers, scots, geordies and brummies.

Agree 100%. Once saw question of sport when Ali McCoist and Gazza were on together. I literally couldn't understand a word they said!

Thomas Frank

Wow. A really decent interview from Thomas. Not that that was unexpected after reading from various posts here and elsewhere that he had no personality :)

Hopefully not Bill as he has a life ban from football following altercations when playing vets football in Southend

Bill? Always scored against us for Southend in the early 70's?

Thomas Frank

Good luck Thomas. He talks a lot of sense and seems to be relishing the chance to put his thoughts into how the team can improve. New Head Coach new era.

Horrible bast*rd, broke a mates leg in a testimonial at Walton and Hersham vs Chelsea legends in 1980 because he nutmegged him. Got sent off and didn’t stop to say sorry at the time or afterwards.

If you look at my text you'll notice that I've made the sort of error that no self-respecting Dane would have made...I hang my head in shame and the fact that nobody on here has noticed...

Thomas Frank

5 pages and not one complaint. Best of luck TF!

I’m probably in a minority here but I think Pulis is somewhat underrated as a coach. Yes, his preferred style is not very appealing (albeit effective) but, like Coppell, his teams can play nicer stuff when opportunity allows and he’s thoughtful about the game. He’s a cut above Warnock, who he gets lumped in with, though Warnock is sensible enough not to hang around too long and tarnish his record of getting teams up and staying up, whereas Pulis has let his appeal wane by staying at clubs which then develop ambitions to do more than just be effective.

Having worked with him could be a benefit for out assistant manager if Garner gets the job as a little nous about the dark arts could help provide a hard, winning edge to our purist, passing game in stopping those dominant performances ending in late draws.

I’ve worked with non-lawyer Danes who’ve been able to spot nuances and flaws in my legal drafting which native speaker professionals didn’t and debated them with me to get precisely the commercial outcome they wanted.

Great decision and love how I can scroll through 6 pages of positive comments on my way home tonight. We're such a lovely club aren't we?

I recall the Danes always had a fantastic grasp of the northwest England dialect. Jan Molby sounded more scouse than Robbie Fowler.

You mean a lovely, understanding and educated GPG :D

Yep, I’d agree with all of that. What I meant was that Pulis’ style is obviously at odds with our own but there’s no doubting he’s a very effective manager.

It'll be very interesting to see where Frank differs from Smith and how he changes things around. He said in his interview there were lots of things we can improve so he's obviously got ideas. I hope one of the things he does address is to get the tempo of our passing up as when we get that right we're unplayable but too often we move it too slowly especially at home. I wonder whether we'll get to see subs before 60 mins??? :D

Thomas Frank

The only real choice.

Now to see who his assistant/s will be.

Thomas Frank

Just watched the interview.
TF comesacross very well indeed. Intelligent, articulate, gets it totally.
Think we are very lucky to have such an impressive addition to what is already an excellent management set up.

Thomas Frank

Energetic but humble, comes across as a great guy. Love that we don't necessarily go for a 'name' at BFC. Good luck Thomas!

Well he's not an addition as he was already there.

Thomas Frank

Happy with this and hope it means we'll see a better Marcondes when he's fit.

Now for an assistant to come in.
